Opis:
Limited possibilities of agricultural utilization of sewage sludge results in the development of unconventional methods of its final management. Recently, recycling of sewage sludge in road construction is under examination. Literature review mentions that properly prepared sludge might replace other conventional materials which are commonly used in a construction sector. In this paper, the proposition of the use of sewage sludge in the production of unconventional material for a road construction is presented. In laboratory tests, dewatered sewage sludge with the moisture content at the level of 62%, glass powder and quartz sand were applied. For the obtained product, physical and chemical characteristics were examined. The compressive strength and the hardness were also measured. The results were compared with other materials which are also used in construction sector. The research confirmed the possibility to produce a material from different fractions of waste, which might indicate usefulness in civil engineering.

Opis:
The application of the supply chain management (SCM) in industry has achieved much success, especially in the manufacturing sector. In the current market, the Vietnamese construction companies must compete not only with domestic companies but also with foreign ones, the application of SCM is essential to improve efficiency and increase their competitive advantage. In this paper, a survey was carried out to identify factors that cause limitation in applying SCM to the Vietnamese construction industry. A qualitative approach was based on prime contractor’s perspective at the construction phase of the project. The survey questionnaire was designed by synthesizing and inheriting the previous studies and consultation with experts. The survey participants are those who have had working experience with main contractors and joined in the construction projects. The face-to-face interviews were conducted to collect data. Descriptive statistics analysis and Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) were used to analyze data. The results indicated seven leading causes which limited the application of SCM in the construction industry.

Opis:
Risk scoring methods applied in risk assessments used in Turkey, differ from each other in terms of analysis methods, scoring the risks, presumption and sensitivity levels. This article aims to eliminate the effects of divergent results of different risk analyses of lifting equipments used in the building industry and develop a practical hybrid risk analysis and ranking method. In this study risks of lifting equipments used in the building industry were scored by conventional Fine-Kenney risk analysis method first. Secondly, with the experience of previous accidents on construction sites, the reasons of accidents were sorted into 7 main criteria, which being ‘Demographic’, ‘Behavioral’, ‘Machine Related’, ‘Working Environment Related’, ‘Economical’, ‘Administrative’ and ‘Organizational’ criteria and related sub-criteria. Developing these criteria was supported by the experience of inspections carried out by labour inspectors. The weighted scores of these criteria were calculated by AHP method using a questionnaire applied to 14 experienced labor inspectors. The weighted scores obtained by the analytical hierarchy process method (AHP) were multiplied by the scores obtained by Fine-Kinney risk assessment method and a new integrated risk assessment and ranking application was introduced. With this application, a different priority rank was created and which risk to be eliminated primarily was determined. Keywords: analytical hierarchy process, lifting equipments, fine-kinney, occupational health and safety, integrated risk analysis, ranking method
