Opis:
This paper reports the experimental results of a study investigating the effect of adhesive joint end shapes on the load-bearing capacity of carbon fibre-reinforce polymer (CFRP) and steel bonded joints. In the study, samples with new proprietary types of CFRP strip ends were examined. All samples were subjected to tensile quasi-static loading with a load rate of 1.5 mm/min. A total of 60 samples with CFRP/steel single overlap joints were tested to determine their ultimate load-bearing capacity, effective bond length and failure modes for the above variables. 8 joint end shapes of normal CFRP modulus with three lengths of CFRP overlap and one CFRP cross section (20 x 1.4 mm) were used in this study. Laboratory test results showed that joint end shape has visible effect on the load capacity of the CFRP/steel bonded joints. The load-bearing capacity of the samples with a regular joint end was up to 28 % lower than that of the samples with a plan-shaped end and 30 % lower than that of the samples with a chamfered end with adhesive outflow. The differences in the results decreased with increase in joint end length towards the effective end length.

Opis:
In this paper a study to develop a composite wear-resistant coatings for application to the working surface of linings of brake devices, which is based on a rule of a positive gradient of mechanical properties was carried out. These devices and so coatings work in conditions of rapid rise of temperature. Thermal properties of matrix and inclusions should not differ a lot. Otherwise this will cause internal cracking and deterioration of coating. With this purpose we did the analyses of thermal properties of matrix and carbide particles of coating and concluded thet a material with balanced composition based on thermal properties will have the best wear resistance It was created and tested eutectic composites based on alloy steel 12X18H9T based on thermal characteristics of all components. Wear tests indicated the best wear resistance of coating with composition: steel 12X18H9T (matrix) – 75%; fillers TiB2 – 10%, VC – 15%.

Opis:
The article describes and compares the course of the resistance test of a treated surface against the impact of gravel with the model of the test process. The two series of composite samples with surface treatment underwent a so-called gravel test, followed by the evaluation of the test results. Simultaneously with the tests, the material models of the tested composites were created. The input values obtained were used to create a FEM model. The model describes the response of the surface treatment to the impact of the object i.e. gravel of the given size and weight/number. The modelling results were compared with the results of real tests.

Opis:
Contemporary vehicles have an increasing number of bodywork elements made of composites. Their advantages are undoubtedly weight reduction and increased corrosion resistance. On the other hand, accidental repairs are becoming difficult, however, in case of minor deformation there is often no permanent deformation. The authors researched the issue of the strength of composite bodyworks varies over time and in case of minor accidental damage, qualifying the element for further use. The paper presents the results of research on the structure and strength of composite body elements of selected vehicles. Undamaged components and plating parts that were damaged in collisions were examined.
