Wilhelm Pluta - Opis:
- The article describes the coat of arms of the first Bishop of Gorzów, Servant of God Wilhelm Pluta. He ruled the Gorzów Church in the years 1958-1986. The Gorzów Church is a conventional term for an administrative church unit which was established after the end of World War II. During Bishop Pluta’s rule, this administrative unit was called the Gorzów Ordinariate, in the years 1967-1972 the Gorzów Apostolic Administration and from 1972 onwards it was a canonically formed diocese of Gorzów. On the occasion of his episcopal ordination which Bishop Pluta received in the Gorzów Cathedral on 7 September 1958, the Bishop also adopted bishop’s coat of arms and the motto of his pastoral service. In the first part, the text presents the basic forms of Bishop’s Pluta life and service, then it outlines the history of the Gorzów Church until the death of this bishop. The last part focuses on the coat of arms used by the first Gorzów bishop. Basically, Bishop Pluta used one coat of arms throughout the entire period of his bishop ministry. In different publications there were only different variants of the escutcheon. The coat of arms did not comply with the general principles of secular heraldry, and hence it is necessary to read it in the light of what Bishop Pluta used to say.
