Opis:
The aim of this work is to produce the generative rootstocks for the wild pears, which will be of moderate denseness. The initial material is the population of wild pear in the area of Polimlje. The study focused on few segments. Very first one included recording of the phenological traits – first flowering, full flowering, end of flowering and harvest period. The other segment comprised pomological features, i.e. physical [fruit weight (g), fruit size (mm), mass of dry seed (g), and number of seed in 1 kg of the fruit]. Seeds from 9 selected genotypes of wild pears were planted in the nursery and raised seedlings were evaluated for nursery characteristics: germination, seedling vigor, uniformidty and branching. Raised seedlings were used as rootstocks for scion cultivar ‘Grand Champion’. The most important benefit of this study is the fact that the parent trees, the seeds of which provide the best morphological and physiological characteristics for the production of generative rootstocks, were found and favored (in situ). Results of this research show that the rapid growth and uniformity of scions depend on the genetic characteristics of generative rootstocks of selected genotypes of wild pears, such as: plant height, stem diameter (corpulence), branching and uniformity. The selected genotypes, especially ‘Genotype 11’, proved to be the best for mountainous areas of the north of Montenegro, higher altitudes and poorer types of soil. The ‘Genotype 11’ is suggested as the best option for the production of generative rootstocks due to its small vigour level.

Opis:
Allium jesdianum Boiss. & Buhse (Yazdi onion) belonging the family Alliaceae, is an endemic species of Iran that grows wild in the Zagros Mountains range, southwestern Iran. The indigenous people of Iran use the leaves and bulbs of A. jesdianum for the treatment of colds and kidney problems. The bulbs and leaves of various populations of the plant were collected from the alpine regions in Chaharmahal va Bakhtiari province, southwestern Iran. The total phenolic content of ethanol extract was determined by FolinCiocalteu method, the antioxidant activity was evaluated measuring 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), and the antibacterial activity of the extracts against four bacteria was determined by serial dilution assay. Results indicated that the total phenolic content in ethanol extracts from leaves and bulbs of A. jesdianum ranged between 27.83 to 98.23 mg GAE/g extract. A comparison of all plant extracts in the DPPH assay indicated that ethanol extracts from the populations of A. jesdianum leaves were the most effective free radical scavenging agents. The extracts indicated moderate-to-good inhibitory activities against four bacteria, especially against B. cereus. This finding suggests that the bulbs and leaves of A. jesdianum may be considered a natural source of antioxidants and antimicrobial agents.

Opis:
The capability for the formation of primordia is one of the factors preconditioning their correct growth and development as well as high yields. The aim of the performed investigations was to evaluate the capability of primordia formation by several wild Agaricus bisporus and Agaricus arvensis strains derived from natural environment as well as cultivated strains of the above-mentioned species. It was demonstrated that the greatest numbers of primordia per 1 cm² were formed by the cultivated strain A. bisporus F59 (2.4 primordia/cm²) and by the Ab/24/7 wild strain (2.2 primordia/cm²). Similar numbers of primordia (2.1 primordia/cm²) were developed by the Ar/21/I strain of the A. arvensis species. The cultivated strain of this species, i.e. KW7/35, formed only 0.9 primordium/cm².
Podobną liczbę zawiązków wytworzyła rasa Ar/21/I (2,1 szt./cm²) gatunku A. arvensis. Rasa uprawna tego gatunku, tj. KW7/35 wytworzyła zawiązki tylko w liczbie 0,9 szt./cm².

Opis:
This study was conducted to determine the mineral contents and some nutritional properties of Trachystemon orientalis L. growing in the Central Black Sea Region, Turkey, and that is consumed as vegetable. Surveys and field studies were started during the spring semester of 2011 (April–May) and they were collected from Samsun and Ordu, where they are intense. In the study, it is was observed that pH, dry matter, content of ash, N, protein, vitamin C, macro- and microelements examined in Trachystemon orientalis varied considerably. The pH, dry matter, ash, N, protein and C content of the plants ranged from 6.61 to 6.88, 13.0 to 22.1%, 9.2 to 17.0%, 2.3 to 3.3%, 14.1 to 20.3 % and 0.12 to 39.03 mg/100g, respectively. Mineral analysis showed that Trachystemon orientalis contained considerably high amounts of potassium (3883.8 to 5791.4 mg/100g), phosphorus (339.7 to 540.9 mg/100 g), calcium (159.4 to 432.4 mg/100g), magnesium (108.0 to 176.4 mg/100 g), iron (10.7 to 63.1 mg/100 g), sodium (22.1 to 66.3 mg/100g), copper (0.6 to 1.5 mg/100 g), manganese (1.5 to 3.6 mg/100g) and zinc (2.3 to 7.6 mg/100g). Mineral compositions of the plants varied significantly depending on the genotypes. T. orientalis was determined as abundant in contents of vitamin C, minerals and protein.

Opis:
Plant communities which form orchard edges are a vital element of ecological infrastructure enriching these agrocenoses. The research was conducted in an orchard environment made up of apple orchards and their edges in the form of agricultural cultivations, tree clumps and a road lined with trees and shrubberies. The study aim was to determine the impact of the orchard edge plant diversity onto the number and abundance of Ichneumonidae subfamilies in the orchards. The study showed that orchard environments made up of an apple orchard and edge plants of various species create better living conditions for Ichneumonidae parasitoids than the environment of an orchard and neighbouring agricultural cultivations. The diversity of orchard edge plants positively influences the abundance of the Ichneumonidae subfamilies rather than the number of subfamilies in the orchard. In the orchard habitat the following dominant subfamilies were found: Campopleginae, Cryptinae, Orthocentrinae and Pimplinae. These entomophages may control the abundance of pests infesting orchards.
