In this work, the Woka 5810 powders (88% tungsten carbide-12% cobalt) were used to produce coating by high velocity oxy-fuel spraying. WC-Co is widely used as a tribological coating material providing a combination of high toughness, high hardness, and good strength. The treated samples were characterized by using optical micrograph, stereo microscope and scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry, and microhardness tests. Also the wear performance of the coatings was investigated. The results indicated that the coating shows slight higher microhardness and better abrasive wear resistance than the conventional counterpart. The friction coefficient of coating was low. The scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy analyses were applied to worn surfaces.

The aim of this research was to investigate microstructural and mechanical properties of the WC-Co-Cr coatings by high velocity oxygen fuel spraying. Woka 3653 (WC10Co4Cr) powder was used as coating material. This powder is widely used as a tribological coating material providing a combination of high toughness, high hardness, and good strength. The coatings were produced for the different high velocity oxygen fuel spraying parameters. The treated samples were characterized by using scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry and X-ray diffractometry. Microhardness measurements were executed to evaluate the mechanical properties of the coatings. Also the wear performance of the coatings was investigated. The scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry analyses were applied to worn surfaces. The results indicated that the coating shows slightly higher microhardness and better abrasive wear resistance than the conventional counterpart.

Opis:
Conventional air plasma spray technique and two powders, NiCrAlY and CoNiCrAlY, were used to produce the M-CrAlY type of coating on the Inconel 713LC substrate. Two phase coatings, consisting of Ni and/or Co solid solution and NiAl intermetallic phase, were produced. A certain amount of imperfectly melted powder particles, voids and aluminium oxide was also present. After air plasma spraying the coatings were annealed at widely ranging temperatures (650, 800, 1000 and 1150°C) for two hours in argon-flow atmosphere. It was found that the temperature significantly affects the microstructure of resulting coatings. The oxide scale was formed by internal oxidation in a coating region primarily at higher temperatures. In this case, aluminium was depleted from the NiAl phase within the coating region and the Ni, Co, Cr solid solutions and the aluminium oxide started to form rapidly. No interaction was observed after the short thermal exposure below the substrate surface. The microstructure of coatings was recorded by scanning electron microscope. Coating thickness, amount of voids and oxide scale were measured by means of image analysis. The concentration of phases was estimated by energy dispersive microanalysis.

Opis:
Changes in the phase composition and crystallite size, as well as changes in the magnetic behaviour of $Nd_{4.5}Fe_{77}B_{18.5}$ alloy, caused by thermomagnetic measurements, was observed in regard of the optimal magnetic state of this alloy. In the optimized magnetic state, the formed nanocomposite consisted of $Fe_3B//Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ and partly of α-Fe with a mean crystallite size < 30 nm, as determined by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. An increased amount of α-Fe, the presence of $Nd_2O_3$ and different Fe-B phases, as well as an increase in the mean crystallite size were observed after thermomagnetic measurements had caused a quality loss of the hard magnetic properties.

Opis:
Hydrogen accumulation in samples of a palladium and 12Kh18N10T steel at the hydrogen charging by the electrolytic method and hydrogen release from these samples at its electron and X-ray irradiation are studied. Palladium was used as a comparison material (as most efficiently solvent hydrogen known among the simple materials). It is established that a capture effectiveness of hydrogen from an electrolyte (1 M $H_2SO_4$ at current density is 0.5 A $cm^{-2}$) for palladium is 3-4 orders more than for steel. The hydrogen yield nonlinearly increases with growing of electron current density and electron energy is more than 40 keV under electron irradiation of saturated palladium and 12Kh18N10T steel samples. About 90% of the hydrogen had removed from hydrogen saturated palladium samples and only 60% from steel under electron beam with energy 40 keV and current density ≈ 20 μA $cm^{-2}$ for 1 h of irradiation. It is necessary to increase the energy of electrons from 40 to 100 keV for the more effective removal of hydrogen.

We use a single molecule atomic force spectroscopy combined with the steered molecular dynamics simulation to determine a mechanical behavior of neural cell adhesion protein contactin during its unfolding. Force curves typical for modular proteins were observed, showing at most four unfolding peaks. The analysis of force spectra performed within worm-like chain model of polymer elasticity showed the presence of three unfolding lengths. Small plateaus, most likely resulting from forced transitions within domains were observed for the first time. Steered molecular dynamics simulations help to determine atomistic picture of domain unfolding.

Models have been proposed explaining differences in electrophysical and photoelectrical properties of epitaxial films of Hg$\text{}_{1-x}$Cd$\text{}_{x}$Te (x≈0.2) before and after treating by single pulses of Nd:YAG laser. These models were obtained on the basis of the calculated distributions of temperature, temperature gradient and concentration of interstitial mercury during and after exposing to the laser pulse. These calculations were done using the net method.

The specific interactions between bovine serum albumin and poly- or two monoclonal bovine serum albumin antibodies were studied using force spectroscopy mode of atomic force microscopy. The histograms of the unbinding forces for polyclonal bovine serum albumin antibodies are broad at high antibody concentrations (50 or 270 μg/ml) and narrow at low concentrations (10 or 27 μg/ml), while the histograms for monoclonal antibodies peak at well defined unbinding force. The peak unbinding force depends on the type of antibody and the antibody concentration. In this paper we described and characterized the passive adsorption and covalent immobilization of proteins for tip and sample preparation. Force spectroscopy could serve as a useful method for characterization of antigen-antibody interactions for measuring the specificity of an antibody or to assess the purity of a monoclonal antibody solution and to distinguish between different antibodies.

The aim of the paper was to study the features of measurement of the magnetic Barkhausen noise by the new two-stage method in the high excitation frequency region (power line frequency). The magnetic Barkhausen noise was investigated on grain oriented Fe-3%Si steel subjected to different heat treatment. By application of an air coil on the output of the power amplifier we were able to linearize the excitation field. At the same time, the air coil suppressed the unwanted noise from the output of the power amplifier. We have found that the two-stage method is able to reveal a peak of the power spectrum even if it is located at low frequency, in contrast to the classical one-stage method. Further, we successfully applied a model of the power spectrum to the real magnetic Barkhausen noise obtained from the two-stage measurement.

Al arc thermal spray coating materials are widely used to prevent the corrosion of steel structure materials in marine environment. To improve the durability of the Al alloy thermal spray coating layer, Al-Mg alloy arc thermal spray coating was performed with different Mg contents. Furthermore, the cavitation experiment was performed in natural seawater to evaluate the durability of the thermal spray coating layer, and the damaged surface was analyzed with a scanning electron microscope and a 3D microscope. As a result, the durability of the Al-Mg alloy thermal spray coating layer improved by the addition of Mg, and the Al-3%Mg thermal spray coating layer presented the best characteristics.

X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, UV-visible photometry, and photoluminescence measurements were used to investigate the surface morphology and structural and optical properties of MgO films. Magnesium oxide films deposited by the spray pyrolysis technique were studied. The substrate temperature was varied from T_{s} = 643 K to 693 K. Magnesium chloride hexahydrate (MgCl₂·6H₂O), dissolved in deionized water, was used as the precursor solution. It was established that the single phase films crystallize into a cubic structure with very fine crystallite size (about 2 nm). The optical band gaps of the samples were varied from 3.64 eV to 3.70 eV. Also, the films have a high level of transmittance of 90%. Photoluminescence spectra show the emission peaks at approximately 412 nm (3.00 eV) and 524 nm (2.38 eV). The peak with the energy of 3.00 eV is ascribed to holes trapped in magnesium ion vacancies acting as acceptors (F⁺ center). The broad emission peak at 524 nm is related to the presence of defects (F¯ centers) associated with oxygen ion vacancies.

Opis:
A new method of the Barkhausen noise measurement and optimization of the measured data processing with respect to non-destructive evaluation of ferromagnetic materials is proposed. The measuring method is based on well-known method of magnetic adaptive testing where a complex set of minor hysteresis loops is measured. Collecting the sets of obtained Barkhausen noise envelopes into suitable designed matrices and optimizing the data processing with respect to the maximum sensitivity to the evaluated variable were developed. The method is illustrated on the evaluation of plastic deformation of a steel sample. It is shown that the proposed measuring method and measured data processing bring an improvement of the sensitivity to the evaluated variable when comparing with measuring the traditional Barkhausen noise parameter (root mean square).

In the present work, ZnO/CuO composite nanostructures have been grown on fluorine doped tin oxide coated glass substrate by aqueous chemical growth method. To observe the effect of post growth annealing (500°C, 1 min) on the structural properties of ZnO nanorods scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction techniques have been utilized. SEM images of post growth annealed (post growth annealed) sample reveal that the average diameter of ZnO NRs has considerably increased in comparison with as grown sample. Moreover after post growth annealing the ZnO NRs showed more clearly hexagonal wurtzite structure. Beside this the NRs are also uniform and well aligned with a high aspect ratio of $~10$. In XRD pattern the strongly intense (002) peak of the post growth annealing sample suggest that the crystal quality of the NRs have also been improved significantly. Since the structural improvement have a significant impact on charge transport properties as well, therefore the effect of post growth annealed has also been investigated by the electrical characterization of ZnO/CuO based heterojunction. The current-voltage measurements of the post growth annealed sample showed improvement in the current in comparison with as grown sample. The impedance study has also confirmed that the post growth annealed has influence on the electrical properties. The presented post growth annealed heterojunction of ZnO/CuO may have space in applications like sensors and oxide based diodes in the devices fabrication.

The paper concerns analyses of the nanostructures based on metal-oxide semiconductors, such as titanium dioxide $(TiO_2)$ and zinc oxide $(ZnO)$ exposed to nitrogen dioxide $(NO_2)$ in an atmosphere of dry and humid synthetic air. The investigations were performed at a rather low temperature amounting to 120°C. The responses of sensors differing in the morphology of their structures have been compared. Also the time of their responses were compared with each other. The paper describes theoretically changes in the effective resistance of these structures due to the interaction of the gas. The presented results are being discussed based on the analysis of physical and chemical phenomena.
