Opis:
We study theoretically the formation of deeply bound pionic atoms to deduce the pion properties in nuclei precisely from the observables. We show the theoretical formation spectra of deeply bound pionic atoms in the various cases. We consider the pionic atom formation on the even-even and neutron-odd nucleus targets. We also show the angular dependence of the formation spectra in the (d, $\text{}^3He$) reactions. Based on these theoretical results, we have found that we can obtain the systematic information on several deeply bound states for various nuclei. Actually, these observations have been performed in the experiments at RIBF/RIKEN.

The odd-odd nuclei are characterized by a level density which is high already in the low-energy region. This case displays a full complexity of the interwoven shell-model and collective degrees of freedom and thus provides an interesting testing ground for the pattern of nuclear level density. The level density of the odd-odd nucleus ¹⁹⁶Au is investigated in the interacting boson-fermion-fermion model which accounts for collectivity and complex interaction between quasiparticle and collective modes. In the present work, the IBFFM pattern of total and parametric dependent level densities is investigated and compared to the pattern found in previous investigations in the framework of combinatorial, thermodynamic and spectral distribution approaches.

We present a brief overview of the three-dimensional formalism that is under development in our group. Using the 3D momentum eigenstates of the nucleon directly, instead of relying on the partial wave decomposition of operators involved in the calculations, allows us to use a very direct approach. This in turn enabled us to successfully tackle a large variety of few-body problems. Our calculation of the two nucleon transition operator and bound state can incorporate a very general form of the two-nucleon potential. Calculations of the three-nucleon bound state can include in addition to the two-nucleon potential also a very general operator form of the three-nucleon force. Recently the 3D formalism is also applied to processes that involve electro-weak probes. Carrying out these calculations for a wide spectrum of two-nucleon and three-nucleon potentials using the classical partial wave approach is unpractical due to the complicated spin structure of the operators. Using the 3D formalism, the calculations can be quickly adapted to test new models.

Opis:
We consider the filling factor 5/2 fractional quantum Hall state of spin-polarized fermions in a dirty (mobility $μ_b \lt 10 m^2 V^{-1} s^{-1}$) bi-layer quantum well system. We show that the system undergoes a quantum phase transition from the effective two-component state to an effective single-component state, at fixed charge imbalance regulatory parameter $\Delta_{c}$ and constant layer separation, as the inter-layer tunneling strength $\Desta_\text{SAS}$ is increased. At finite and constant $\Delta_\text{SAS}$, a transition from the latter state to the former state is also possible upon increasing the parameter $\Delta_{c}$. We identify the order parameter to describe quantum phase transition as a pseudo-spin component and calculate this with the aid of the Matsubara propagators in the finite-temperature formalism. Our treatment is able to show that, at low temperature(< 0.1 K) and low value of charge imbalance regulatory parameter, there is a competition between the disorder and the inter-layer tunneling strength in the sample. The competition leads to the quasi-particle localization at low tunneling strength.

The theory of resonance energies and widths of electron quasi-stationary states and electronic conductivity in open cylindrical two-barrier symmetric resonance tunnel structure is developed. The complete Schrodinger equation is solved within the model of effective masses for rectangular potential wells and barriers. Interaction between electrons and electromagnetic field was taken into account using the approximation of the small signal. The calculations of spectral parameters are performed for $In_{0.53}Ga_{0.47}As$/$In_{0.52}Al_{0.48}As$ resonance tunnel structure. The dependences of conductivity on the energy of mono-energy electrons beam falling at the system and electromagnetic field energy absorbed or emitted by the system are obtained and analyzed. The relation between experimentally measured parameters of conductivity and resonance widths of electron quasi-stationary states in open resonance tunnel structure is established.

Tensor effects in the dipole excitation of neutron-rich $\text{}^{68}Ni$ nucleus are investigated in the framework of Skyrme-Hartree-Fock plus random phase approximation at finite temperature. We calculate isovector giant and pygmy dipole strengths with finite temperature random phase approximation by using different tensor correlations. The effect of both tensor and finite temperature on the giant dipole resonance-pygmy dipole resonance energy region is analysed. Pygmy dipole resonance calculations with different proton-neutron tensor coupling constants are also compared with the experimental results.

We present an exact diagonalization approach for atomistic calculation of excitonic properties of semiconductor nanostructures under piezoelectric field. The method allows for efficient treatment of both single particle and many-body states at a small computational cost and results in a very good agreement with the full diagonalization treatment. We illustrate our approach by analyzing the effect of a piezoelectric field on a spectra of a self-assembled InAs/GaAs lens-shaped quantum dot. We study the influence of linear and quadratic piezoelectric terms on the quantum dot electronic structure and importantly we found that the non-linear, density functional based theory of piezoelectricity produces results very similar to those obtained by a well-established linear approach utilizing empirical parameters.

A theoretical study of two-particle systems in quasi-one-dimensional quantum wires and quantum dots is presented. We have derived the analytical formula for the effective interaction potential between the charge carriers confined laterally by a strong parabolic potential and applied this formula to electron pairs in single and double quantum dots and to excitons in quantum wires. In the single quantum dot of the sufficiently large size, we have found the Wigner-type localization.

In this work we investigate the electronic structure of coupled 0D-2D nanostructures. The respective confined state energy levels in a quantum dot-quantum well system are calculated for various conduction band offsets - between the quantum dot and surrounding material. The calculated electron and hole energy levels with their wave functions allow determining if the wave functions are within the injector quantum well or within the quantum dot and if the carrier positions on the energy scale are appropriate from the point of view of a possible laser structure utilizing the so-called tunnel injection scheme. It is shown that for an adequate width of an injector quantum well and the conduction band offsets designing an optimal tunnel injection structure is possible.

Theory of optical properties of interacting electrons and holes in quasi-2D quantum dots in strong magnetic fields is discussed. In two dimensions and the lowest Landau level, hidden symmetries control the interaction of the interacting system with light. By confining electrons and holes into quantum dots hidden symmetries can be removed and the excitation spectrum of electrons and excitons can be observed. We discuss a theory electronic and of excitonic quantum Hall droplets at a filling factorν=2. For an excitonic quantum Hall droplet the characteristic emission spectra are predicted to be related to the total spin of electron and hole configurations. For the electronic droplet the excitation spectrum of the droplet can be mapped out by measuring the emission for increasing number of electrons.

Magnetic field and temperature dependent photoluminescence studies on neutral and charged excitons in individual InAs quantum dots allow us to uncover different mechanisms by which the discrete quantum dot states are coupled to delocalized continuum states in a quantum well (the wetting layer). The behaviour of the neutral and singly charged excitons can be explained taking only discrete quantum dot states into account. For doubly and triply charged excitons we have to consider spin dependent coherent and incoherent interactions between discrete quantum dot states and delocalized wetting layer states.

The high electron mobility transistors can act as a resonator cavity for the plasma waves that can reach THz frequencies for a nanometer size devices. As was predicted by Dyakonov and Shur in 1993, the steady state of the current flow in a gated 2D electron gas can become unstable leading to the emission of an electromagnetic radiation at the plasma wave frequencies. The theory predicted also that the plasma waves can be used for resonant detection of THz electromagnetic radiation. In the present paper we review our recent experiments on THz emission and detection performed on high electron mobility transistors based on different semiconductor structures: InGaAs/GaAlAs, GaAs/GaAlAs, and Si.

We theoretically study the electronic transport through a triple quantum dot system in triangular geometry weakly coupled to external metallic leads. By means of the real-time diagrammatic technique, the current and Fano factor are calculated in the lowest order of perturbation theory. The device parameters are tuned to such transport regime, in which coherent population trapping of electrons in quantum dots due to the formation of dark states occurs. The presence of such states greatly influences transport properties leading to a strong current blockade and enhanced, super-Poissonian shot noise. We consider both one- and two-electron dark states and examine the influence of magnetic field on coherent trapping in aforementioned states. When the system is in one-electron dark state, we observe a small shift of the blockade's region, whereas in the case of two-electron dark state, we show that strong magnetic field can lift the current blockade completely.
