Opis:
The vibrational dynamics of water around glycine was investigated by using Raman spectroscopy and inelastic neutron scattering. Experiments of deuterated glycine versus deuterium were performed as comparison. The study shows that for glycine, the exchange of proton-deuteron on the active NH$\text{}_{3}^{+}$ side was easy, whereas there was hardly exchange on the CH$\text{}_{2}$ side. Comparing different proportion of glycine vs. water molecules we obtained that the presence of water hardly changes the main features of glycine illustrating its hydrophobic character. The intralayer hydrogen bonds of glycine crystal are difficult to be replaced due to its stronger bond than water.

Opis:
The phonon energy of $YVO_4$ crystal is lower than other usual compounds of salt. So it is suitable as host material for down-conversion materials. Hydrothermal method was adopted to synthesize $YVO_4$ phosphor powder with the use of yttrium oxide and sodium vanadate as raw material. The change in the relative integral intensity of the (200) and (112) diffraction peaks indicates that macroscopic stress in the lattice obviously changes with the elevated hydrothermal reaction temperature. The $YVO_4$ phosphor powder synthesized involves a certain agglomeration of small particles. The phonon vibration in the $YVO_4$ originates mainly from the internal vibrations in the vanadium-oxygen tetrahedron, in addition to the Y-O and O-H vibrations. Due to a low phonon energy of only $2.8188 × 10^{-21} J$, $YVO_4$ helps to improve the down-conversion efficiency of rare-earth ions. A bandgap value of approximately 3.8 eV for the synthesized $YVO_4$ powders leads to good absorption properties in the ultraviolet region. Upon excitation by the 320 nm ultraviolet photon, the intrinsic emission of $YVO_4$ powders is annihilated, and a broadband emission of $VO_4^{3-}$ near 450 nm is observed at room temperature. The $YVO_4$ phosphor powder synthesized at 180C exhibits the maximum photoluminescence intensity because of its excellent crystallization.

Opis:
We studied magnetic properties of perovskite-type Y$\text{}_{0.33}$Sr$\text{}_{0.67}$ CoO$\text{}_{2.614}$ and Y$\text{}_{0.33}$Sr$\text{}_{0.67}$CoO$\text{}_{2.707}$ prepared under different sintered temperatures at 1250ºC and 1100ºC, respectively. A dc magnetization jump associated with a large thermal hysteresis around 180 K was found in Y$\text{}_{0.33}$Sr$\text{}_{0.67}$CoO$\text{}_{2.614}$, which indicates a kind of magnetic memory effect. On the other hand, Y$\text{}_{0.33}$Sr$\text{}_{0.67}$CoO$\text{}_{2.707}$ shows a larger magnetization with a small magnetization jump around 200 K and lower Curie temperature than those of Y$\text{}_{0.33}$Sr$\text{}_{0.67}$CoO$\text{}_{2.614}$. Rich Co$\text{}^{3+}$ ions in the low temperature sintered Y$\text{}_{0.33}$Sr$\text{}_{0.67}$CoO$\text{}_{2.707}$ possibly introduce large magnetization and high magnetization jump temperature. This may be coming from a surface/volume effect of Co$\text{}^{3+}$ ions appearing in the polycrystalline sample prepared at low temperature. The ferromagnetism resulted from the different surface/volume ratio contributes to a part of magnetization and may result in the change of the Curie temperature.

Opis:
Charging operations of a compact Tesla transformer were experimentally investigated, in single-shot and rep-rate (50 pps for 1 s) modes, respectively. The charging limitations were also explored. The experimental results were compared and analyzed. The maximum secondary charging voltages of the Tesla transformer were measured to be 380 kV and 300 kV in single-shot and rep-rate modes, respectively. The RMS pulse-to-pulse instability of the secondary charging voltage is generally less than 10% but increases with the increasing initial voltage across the primary capacitor. Since the secondary capacitor of the Tesla transformer is a pulse forming line (PFL), continued operation is possible if there is breakdown in the PFL. Furthermore, operation can even be continued under occasional breakdown for some pulses, without the effects on the operations of subsequent pulses.
