Opis:
Positron implantation profiles in various materials for ²²Na isotope source are discussed. The spatial distribution of positrons in materials with densities from 1 to 21 g/cm³ are simulated using GEANT4 code. The results indicate that depth distributions of thermalized positrons in any homogeneous medium can be described by the sum of two exponential functions. Contribution of the short-range exponent is about 11% in the materials. The both absorption coefficients can be well represented as a function of material density and atomic number. Proposed empirical model agrees well with available experimental data.

Opis:
The electron correlations in narrow energy bands are examined within the framework of the Hubbard model, generalized by taking into account the correlated hopping of electrons. Electronic conductivity and ferromagnetic ordering stabilization in the system with various forms of electronic density of states are studied. The influence of magnetic field, temperature and the form of density of states on concentration dependence of conductivity and magnetization is investigated. The correlated hopping is shown to cause the electron-hole asymmetry of transport and ferromagnetic properties of narrow band materials.

Opis:
The model of a strongly correlated system in which periodically spaced Anderson-Hubbard centers are introduced into narrow-band metal is considered. Besides the interactions between localized magnetic moments and strong on-site Coulomb interaction, the model takes into account the hybridization of localized and band states. To study the effect of the lattice deformation on the electrical properties of the system, the phonon term and elastic energy have been taken into account. Green functions for band and localized electrons have been found. On this base, the energy spectrum has been investigated as a function of model parameters, temperature and external pressure. The criterion of the metal-insulator transition for an integer value of electron concentration has been derived and the phase diagram of the metal-insulator transition has been built.

Opis:
Unit cell electric arrangement of piezoelectric crystals may be described by various multipole/octupole/dipole electric moments which corresponds to a three/two/one-dimensional intrinsic polarity respectively. Such a latent polar structure is totally self-compensated in piezoelectrics if they are mechanically free, but it is non-compensated in pyroelectrics and ferroelectrics. Uniform but anisotropic partial clamping destroys a total self-compensation of non-central crystal intrinsic polarity. This decompensation allows to observe a polar response that is a "dipole projection" ΔP$\text{}_{i}$ from, broken by clamping, spatial polar arrangement of piezoelectrics.

Thermal behavior and microstructure of $Fe_{81 - x}Co_{x}Zr_7Nb_2B_{10}$ (x = 2, 4, 6) alloys were investigated by differential thermal analysis and X-ray diffraction. Both the supercooled liguid region Δ $T_{x}$ and the first crystallization peak temperature $T_{p1}$ are the lowest and the span Δ $T_{p}$ between $T_{p1}$ and $T_{p2}$ is the highest when 4 at.% Fe is substituted by Co. The crystallization activation energy $E_{p1}$ for $Fe_{75}Co_6Zr_7Nb_2B_{10}$ alloy is the minimum for the heating rates ν = 5-20 K/min. $E_{p1}$ for $Fe_{77}Co_4Zr_7Nb_2B_{10}$ alloy is the minimum for the heating rates ν = 20 - 50 K/min. The crystallization processes of $Fe_{81 - x}Co_{x}Zr_7Nb_2B_{10}$ (x = 2, 4, 6) amorphous alloys are similar on the whole, which is as follows: amorphous → amorphous + α-Fe(Co) → α-Fe(Co) + $Fe_3Zr$ + $Fe_2Nb_{0.4}Zr_{0.6}$.

Opis:
MgAl₂O₄ (magnesium aluminates spinel, MAS) single crystals doped with titanium ions obtained by the Verneuil method were non-uniformly colored along of the growth crystallographic direction. The crystals were characterized measuring lattice parameter, optical absorption spectra and relative concentration of impurity atoms (Ti, Mn, Cr, and Fe) in different spots of grown Ti:MAS boule. There was observed the correlation of the intensity of absorption band at 800 nm to the relative concentration of iron supporting the identification of this band with charge transfer transition in complexes Ti⁴⁺+Fe²⁺ → Ti³⁺+Fe³⁺. The new resonant structure at the wavelength of 470 nm was found and tentatively identified with the Fano resonance in the complexes formed by lattice defects and impurity ions.

The emission of the Auger electrons during the formation of the Mössbauer nucleus $\text{}^{57}Fe$ leads not only to the formation of multicharged $\text{}^{57}Fe^{n+}$ ion, but also to the appearance of the Auger blob, a cloud of several hundreds of ion-electron pairs ($H_2O^{+}$, e¯) in the solvent around the Fe ion. Fast radiation-chemical reactions therein determine the experimentally observable ratio of the yields of final chemically stable charged states of the Mössbauer ions ($Fe^{3+}$ and $Fe^{2+}$). This ratio strongly depends on reaction rates constants between $H_2O^{+}$, e¯, and the solute S. We have shown that in contrast to radiation chemical data the reactivity of $NO_{3}^{-}$ anions with quasi-free track electrons in frozen aqueous solutions exceeds those of $H_{3}O^{+}$, $ClO_{4}^{-}$, and $HSO_{4}^{-}$ ions only by a factor of three instead of ≈ 100 which follows from the radiation chemical experiments.

Opis:
The evolution of spin system with the Fermi character of the relevant excitations under the strong magnetic field pulse is presented. The nonlinear dynamic equations describing interaction of the system and external magnetic field are found. It is shown that under certain conditions the initial state of the resonantly absorbing system does not change after passing of the field pulse (similar to optical self-induced transparency in two-level molecular gas).

X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements of $RNi_5Sn$ (R = Pr, Nd) compounds are reported. These compounds crystallize in the hexagonal $CeNi_5Sn$-type structure. Magnetic data indicate that both compounds are antiferromagnet with the Néel temperatures $T_{N}$ equal to 24 K (R = Pr) and 8.8 K (R = Nd). The magnetic data below $T_{N}$ suggest the complex magnetic order.

Opis:
The possibility of the calibrated Au nanoparticles formation in conditions of surface plasmon resonance at irradiation of the Au film/glass structure by pulsed $YAG:Nd^{3+}$-laser radiation is investigated. Sizes of the Au fragments and their surface distribution were studied by the atom force microscopy. The effect of Au nanofragmentation was observed only at the second harmonic irradiation (λ = 0.532 μm). The large difference in the average values of Au nanoparticles sizes -[δ] and distributions between created in the resonance conditions, R = $R_{min}$, -[δ] ∼ 80 nm and in case out of resonance R ≠ $R_{min}$, -[δ] ∼ 1350 nm was established. A high degree of the height sizes homogeneity of Au nanoparticles has been shown by the histogram obtained from the atom force microscopy data. There was verified the conclusion about determining contribution of the plasmon subsystem field in nanofragmentation process of the Au film in the SPR conditions at high laser levels.

Opis:
Polycrystalline as-sputtered CoPt alloy films near the equiatomic composition were characterized as consisting of a disordered fcc phase with preferred texture along [111] orientation perpendicular to the film plane. The film annealing at 600°C/16 h induces the disorder-order phase transition confirmed by X-ray diffraction. As a result of the transition an appearance of the ordered tetragonal (fct) phase of AuCuI type with c/a = 0.974 is observed. The c-axis is the easy axis of magnetization. Both longitudinal and polar Kerr hysteresis loops reveal a dramatic increase in the coercivity from 0.1 to 4.5 kOe in annealed CoPt alloy films due to ordering.

Crystal structure and transport properties of the mixed praseodymium cobaltites-ferrites PrCo_{1-x}Fe_xO₃ have been studied in the temperature range of 298-1173 K by a combination of in situ X-ray synchrotron powder diffraction and temperature dependent impedance spectroscopy measurements. In situ high temperature powder diffraction examination of PrCo_{1-x}Fe_xO₃ series revealed considerable anomalies in the lattice expansion which are especially pronounced for the cobalt-rich specimens. These anomalies, which are reflected in a sigmoidal dependence of the unit cell dimensions and in the considerable increase of the thermal expansion coefficients, are obviously associated with transitions of Co^{3+} ions from low spin to the higher spin states and the coupled metal-insulator transitions, occurring in in rare earth cobaltites at the elevated temperatures. Indeed, the temperature-dependent impedance measurements clearly prove the change of conductivity type from dielectric to the metallic behaviour in the mixed cobaltite-ferrites PrCo_{1-x}Fe_xO₃ at the elevated temperatures.

For three-dimensional charge carriers described by the dispersion law with quartic terms of the wave vector, the density of states function similar as in the one-dimensional case was determined. This similarity allows the Pekar and Dejgen condenson states in the continuum approximation to exist. The calculated phonon spectrum reveals optical vibrations of a very low frequency, which favours the electron-phonon interaction and creation of the condenson states.
