Opis:
The introduction of Cu in InP at 700°C and higher temperatures results in both initially p-type and n-type InP become semi-insulating. It is also observed that thermally stable In-Cu rich precipitates form, that the concentration of deep levels is negligible and that InP:Cu samples exhibit inhomogeneities and anomalous transport behavior. The buried Schottky barrier model is the only model thus far studied which is consistent with these experimental observations. This model has general applicability, and its possible relevance to other semiconductors is examined. The conditions necessary for forming quasi-intrinsic semiconductors by metallic precipitation are discussed.

Born stability criteria were employed in the framework of extended generalised exponential potential to calculate the theoretical strength and range of stability of a perfect uniaxially stressed crystal lattice of group IV bcc metals: titanium, zirconium, and hafnium. The analysis depicts two ranges of stability, a bcc phase and a body centered tetragonal phase. The computed value of theoretical strength and strain of bcc Ti, Zr and Hf agree satisfactorily with the experimental limits. The second-order elastic constants C$\text{}_{11}$ and C$\text{}_{12}$ were also computed.

A model is developed by extending the generalised form of exponential potential known as extended generalised exponential potential to account for: (a) a realistic realization of interactions in all separations in general and that of small separations in particular, (b) three-body and electronic effects into the interaction in an alternative and simpler form, (c) a model free from usual fitting procedure. The model is employed to compute the cohesive energy, phonon spectra and second- and third-order elastic constants for group VA bcc metals V and Nb. The computed results showing good agreement with the experimental findings lend reliability and credibility to the potential.

Opis:
The Rayleigh-Taylor instability of two superposed incompressible fluids of different densities in the presence of small rotation, surface tension and suspended dust particles is investigated. The linearized equations of the problem are constructed and the general dispersion relation is obtained using normal mode analysis by applying the appropriate boundary conditions. The effects of surface tension, the Atwood number, small rotation and suspended dust particles are studied on both conditions of Rayleigh-Taylor instability and growth rate of the unstable Rayleigh-Taylor mode. The numerical calculations have been performed to see the effect of rotation, the Atwood number, relaxation frequency and mass concentration of suspended dust particles. It is found that the growth rate of Rayleigh-Taylor instability depends upon the mass concentration and relaxation frequency of suspended dust particles. The uniform small rotation, relaxation frequency and mass concentration of suspended dust particles all have stabilizing influence on the growth rate of Rayleigh-Taylor instability. It is also found that the Atwood number has destabilizing influence on the growth rate of the considered Rayleigh-Taylor configuration.

Fluxgate magnetic field sensors are commonly used in the industry, navigation as well as in non-destructive testing. Moreover, recent development of such sensors is focused on effective application of thin layer magnetic cores, such as made of amorphous alloys. However, effective development of fluxgate sensors require method of modeling its core taking into account demagnetization. The paper presents the results of optimization of the shape of thin-layer core for fluxgate sensor. Due to the fact that possibility of application of finite elements method is limited in the case of thin layer, the method of moments was used. Considering the geometry of the core as well as magnetizing and sensing winding, the optimal proportion of the length/thickness parameter was determined from the point of view of sensor sensitivity. It was proven that value of this optimal proportion is strongly dependent of thickness of the core.

Oxide nanoparticles embedded in a polymer matrix produce nanocomposites which are useful for optics and electronic applications. Yttrium oxide nanoparticles have received much attention due to their various properties and are significantly used in fundamental and application oriented fields. The present paper reports the influence of annealing temperature on the $Y_2O_3:SiO_2$ nanocomposite prepared by sol-gel process. $Y(NO_3)_3 ·4H_2O$ and tetraethoxysilane were used as precursors and obtained powdered form of $Y_2O_3:SiO_2$ composite. The powder sample was annealed at 500C and 900C for 6 h which were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared and transmission electron microscope. X-ray diffraction data described that the broadening of peaks decreases with increase in annealing temperature which may be due to the increase in particle size. Sample analyzed by Fourier transform infrared and transmission electron microscopy confirmed the grain size dependence on annealing temperature. Cubic phase of yttrium oxide crystal structure was obtained within the silica matrix. The nanocrystallites size has been calculated using Debye-Scherrer formula, Williamson-Hall plot and transmission electron micrographs and compared at two different temperatures (a) 500C and (b) 900C.

We study the effects of the Coulomb interaction U between the electrons of opposite spins localized in the quantum dot on the time-dependent electron transport through the quantum dot coupled with two non-magnetic leads. We calculate the transient spin-dependent current generated by a pulsed bias voltage applied across the quantum dot system via the equation of motion method for appropriate correlation functions. The influence of the Coulomb interaction on the quantum coherent oscillations and beats of the current, spin current and current polarization ratio is studied. Our results indicate that the coherent beats in both the total and spin currents observed in the case of vanishing Coulomb interaction are strongly suppressed by non-zero Coulomb interaction. We also show that in the case of the pulsed bias almost fully polarized current occurs in some time windows for non-vanishing Coulomb interaction contrary to almost pure charge or spin current at vanishing U.

Spin-polarized electron transport through a single-level quantum dot attached to ferromagnetic and non-magnetic leads is studied with the use of the non-equilibrium Green function technique. Current polarization is investigated in dependence on parameters which characterize the device: the lead's polarization, a position of the dot energy level compared to the Fermi level in electrodes, and the Zeeman splitting of the dot level in an external magnetic field applied to the dot. Calculations were performed in two transport regimes: the Coulomb blockade regime with correlation effects treated within the Hartree-Fock approximation and the Kondo regime with a more rigorous approach to many-body effects at low temperatures.

In this paper we focus on the anomalous temperature dependence of the in-plane conductivity and symmetry mixing of the superconducting order parameter observed in various experiments on cuprates. We show that the one-band Hubbard model is not capable of describing the physics of cuprates because the kinetic energy is lowered in this model in the superconducting state, which contradicts experimental observations. The proper model to investigate doped, short-range antiferromagnets is the t-J model, for which our results agree with experiments. We analyze a spin polaron model, that is an effective model for a doped antiferromagnet. In the framework of this model we also study the superconducting order-parameter symmetry-mixing phenomenon. We show that the expected mixing of d-wave symmetry with p-wave symmetry takes place in the superconducting order-parameter at a finite value of the doping parameter. This symmetry mixing brakes the time-reversal symmetry.

Jiles-Atherton model is one of the most advanced and most popular models of magnetic hysteresis loop. However, this model is considering different physical phenomena and computational issues. As a result, cross-validation of the results of modelling performed by different authors became difficult. For this reason, the open-source MATLAB/OCTAVE based implementation of Jiles-Atherton model was developed. Proposed implementation covers isotropic model of magnetic hysteresis loops as well as uniaxial and grain oriented electrical steel anisotropy. Moreover, the corrections proposed by Venkataraman together with different approaches to derivative of the anhysteretic magnetization are considered. Developed library is freely available together with the examples of magnetic hysteresis loops. As a result, it can be the base for further development of Jiles-Atherton model for better understanding of magnetization process as well as modelling the inductive components.

The variational canonical transformation method has been applied to the Holstein model to obtain an effective polaronic Hamiltonian, which is subsequently analyzed in the limit of a weak effective electron-electron interaction. A competition between the superconducting and charge-density wave phases has been studied in the light of strong polaronic effects. The phase diagrams illustrating the system evolution from adiabatic to anti-adiabatic limit are presented.

The paper presents the results of modelling the influence of magnetizing field frequency on the magnetic characteristics of $Fe_{40}Ni_{38}Mo_4B_{18}$ amorphous alloy in as-quenched state. An extension for the Jiles-Atherton model was applied and changes of the parameter k during the magnetization process were considered. On the base of the experiment, the parameters of the Jiles-Atherton model were calculated for experimental hysteresis loop. Evolutionary strategies, together with the gradient optimisation method, were used. Moreover, the changes of parameters c and a as the function of frequency of magnetizing field were also taken into consideration. Finally, the high conformity between the experimental and modelling results was achieved. This high conformity indicates that the results both create new possibilities in modelling of properties of inductive components based on the amorphous alloys, as well as extend the possibility of quantitative description of magnetization process.

Conventional spin-wave approach relies on an expansion around a relevant classical (unentangled) ground state or equivalently the ground state in the mean field approximation for the quantum model. However, for systems which may admit valence bond ground states, such as the staggered J-J' Heisenberg antiferromagnet, single site mean field approximation is obviously an incorrect zeroth order approximation. In this paper, we introduce a mean field approximation for clusters consisting of two spins connected by a strong bond in the aforementioned model. We identify the quantum critical point and calculate the ground state magnetization within this cluster mean field approximation in one and two dimensions. Finally, we derive an effective dimer Hamiltonian, in the standard basis operator formalism, which may be a basis for further spin-wave like expansions around the cluster mean field approximation ground state.
