Opis:
Precise values for electric dipole moments of isolated acetone and acetic acid molecules were determined from the Stark effect measurements made on lowest J rotational transitions at conditions of supersonic expansion. The new results are $μ_{tot} =μ_b$ =2.9345(22) D for acetone from measurements on the $1_{11}$← $1_{01}$ transition, and $μ_a$ =0.8631(8), $μ_b$ =1.4345(11), $μ_{tot}$ =1.6741(10) D for acetic acid, from measurements on $1_{11}$ ← $0_{00}$ and $1_{01}$ ← $0_{00}$ transitions. A comparison with previous determinations and with results of quantum chemical calculations is presented.

The weakly bound van der Waals dimer between a molecule of cyanoacetylene and an argon atom was observed by rotational spectroscopy of supersonic expansion. Cyanoacetylene was generated in situ from vinyl cyanide precursor by means of a high voltage discharge just downstream of the expansion nozzle. Both $\text{}^{b}$R- and $\text{}^{b}$Q-type rotational transitions were measured and rotational, centrifugal distortion, and nuclear quadrupole splitting constants were determined. Analysis of the data shows that ground state geometry of the dimer is characterised by R$\text{}_{cm}$=3.65Å andθ=94.9º, with the Ar atom shifted from the position above the cyanoacetylene centre of mass in the direction of the CN group.

Opis:
Aluminum alloy AA5754 is used for many technical and industrial applications. Twin roll casting is unique among the casting processes in that it is a combined "solidification/deformation" technique. The simultaneous solidification and hot rolling produces characteristic microstructure with a fine cell size and intermetallic particle distribution with some residual structure. In the study, first AA5754 alloy (tread and plain sheet) strips were fabricated by using a twin-roll caster equipped with water-cooled steel-rolls. To reduce the thickness of the strip, cold rolling process was applied until strip thickness got 3 mm. After homogenization step the strips were cut in to smaller specimens and annealed at 260°C, 285°C, 310°C, 340°C, 370°C, 400°C, 430°C, 460°C, 490°C, 520°C for 3 hours to obtain the desired temper conditions. Mechanical properties were investigated after processes. Tensile, hardness and bending tests were applied to monitor the effect of annealing after cold rolling process.

The aim of this study was to fabricate 30 wt.% AlB₂/Al-Cu composites using in-situ casting processes and to investigate the corrosion behavior of the composites and of the matrix material in various media. The electrochemical parameters were obtained from potentiodynamic polarization curves. The composites were prepared by liquid reaction of aluminum matrix with boron oxide at 1400°C. The results show that the corrosion resistance of the composite was higher than that of the matrix in selected corrosion media. The anodic corrosion current density values were decreased by reinforcing AlB₂ particles.

This study presents new data on the baseline concentrations of Thorium over the Dereköy-Yazır (Ağlasun-Burdur) volcanic area. Portable gamma-ray spectrometer was used for natural thorium mapping. In situ measurements were made in the field, in the area of 7.5 km² at 165 points. Variations in the Th concentration in the surficial environment of the Dereköy-Yazır region appear to be related to bedrock lithology. The measured thorium concentration varies between 0.68-36 ppm, in the studied area. The highest concentration values were obtained from volcanic rocks. The outcropping volcanic rocks in the region are Pliocene alkaline basalts.

Experimental investigation of the thermal linear expansion l(T) and temperature dependencies of the interference optical path difference D(T) were carried out for (CH$\text{}_{3}$)$\text{}_{2}$ NH$\text{}_{2}$Al(SO$\text{}_{4}$)$\text{}_{2}$·6H$\text{}_{2}$O crystal, in the range of 120-310 K for three crystal physical directions. Decrease in electrostriction coefficients g of crystal was observed on approaching the phase transition point T$\text{}_{c}$ ≈ 150 K in ferroelectric phase. Relative temperature changes of the lengthening δl/l and refractive index δn/(n-1) are of the same order of magnitude. Peculiarities of temperature dependence of dilatometric and optical parameters of (CH$\text{}_{3}$)$\text{}_{2}$NH$\text{}_{2}$Al(SO$\text{}_{4}$)$\text{}_{2}$·6H$\text{}_{2}$O testify for qualitative reconstruction of chemical bonds in the crystal when temperature changes in the same phase.

Tetraguanidinium dichloride-sulphate crystal, $[C(NH_2)_3]_4Cl_2SO_4$, abbreviated as $G_4Cl_2SO_4$ was investigated. The vibrational infrared spectra of powdered $G_4Cl_2SO_4$ crystal in Nujol mull were studied in the wide range of temperature, from 298 K to 377 K. This temperature range contains all the phases in the crystal (named III, II, I on heating, respectively). The temperature changes of wavenumbers, centre of gravity, and intensity of the bands were analyzed to clarify the molecular mechanism of the phase transitions. It was shown that in cooling from 377 K to 313 K the phase II is the same as the room temperature phase. Information about hydrogen bonds was obtained. The time dependence of internal vibrations at 356 K was observed and it was connected with slow transition III → II. For more detailed band assignment Raman spectrum at room temperature, at ferroelectric phase was carried out. Theoretical calculations were made based on density functional theory, with the B3LYP method using 6-311 + G(d,p) basic set. Calculated normal vibrational modes of the molecule, their frequencies and intensities were compared with these recorded in experiment. Theoretical description of the molecule including hydrogen bonds were optimized and the bond parameters were obtained. The Mulliken charges population analysis was performed.

Opis:
The effective mass of the quasiparticles in a d-wave superconducting system has been calculated via magnetization measurements done by SQUID by using the advanced derivative method used in our previous works. Phenomenological analogy between the double helix quantum wave, which does exist within the primitive cell of the d-wave superconductor, and the human DNA was previously made. In this work, the numerical proof of the analogy mentioned has been realized by determining the magnitude of the attractive force of d-wave structure and comparing with the magnitude of the force that holds the double strand of human DNA that are both of the same order of $10^{-10}$ N. Moreover, the wavelength of the double helix quantum wave of the superconducting system corresponds to ultraviolet region of the electromagnetic spectrum that exactly coincides with the wavelength which is used for exciting the states in human DNA.

We compare the results of electrically detected magnetic resonance in a 2D electron gas in Si/SiGe quantum wells with transport and magnetic resonance measurements on ferromagnetic Ga$\text{}_{1-x}$Mn$\text{}_{x}$As. The results lead us to the conclusion that observation of electrically detected magnetic resonance is possible only in the case of a slow spin relaxation, where the microwave resonant absorption leads to a noticeable change of spin magnetization.

The aim of this study is the comparative evaluation of surface roughness, elastic modulus and hardness values of some new generation fissure sealants using nanoindentation method and triboindenter. In this study, we have tested five different materials of dental fissure sealant in five groups with six specimens in each. Tested specimens were prepared from the following materials; Fuji Triage as a glass ionomer, Glass Seal as a glass carbomer, Ultra Seal XT Hydro, Teethmate F-1 and Defence Chroma as three resin composites. In the study, Hysitron Triboindenter TI 950 machine was used for nanohardness measurements. This machine has load resolution of less than 1 nN and displacement resolution of 0.04 nm. Data were statistically analysed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Kolmogorov-Smirnov Z tests. Hardness values of Fuji Triage, Glass Seal, Ultra Seal XT Hydro were fairly close. Same situation was seen between Teethmate F-1 and Defence Chroma. However, hardness values of the Teethmate F-1 and Defence Chroma was lower than in other examined materials. We can also say that the Defence Chroma has the lowest elastic modulus and Fuji Triage has the highest one among the examined materials. Surface of Teethmate F-1 was the roughest. On the other hand, Ultra Seal XT Hydro has the smoothest surface.

In internal combustion engines, friction losses caused by piston ring and cylinder liner pair account for approximately 20% of total mechanical friction losses as reported in literature. A reduction in friction between piston ring and cylinder liner pair would therefore result in higher efficiency, lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions. In this study, the effects of different types of fuel which is contaminated to cylinder oil have been tested for investigating the friction behavior between piston ring and cylinder liners pair by a reciprocating tester depending on the load, revolution and temperature. The results showed that lubricant type and revolution have been found significant on friction behavior.

The aim of this study is to compare microhardness, roughness and micromorphology of the examined materials of a newly developed glass carbomer dental filling material to two different resin modified glass ionomers and a glass ionomer dental filling material. Specimens tested were prepared from a glass carbomer without gloss (Glass Carbomer, GCP), a glass carbomer (Glass Carbomer, GCP) with gloss, two different resin modified glass ionomers (Fuji II LC, GC and Riva LC, SDI) and a glass ionomer (Equia, GC). Seven specimens of each material were prepared according to manufacturer's recommendations. After setting, samples were polished and stored in 37°C distilled water for 24 h. Indentation microhardness of examined restorative materials was measured using the Vickers indenters. In addition surface roughness of the materials was measured using surface profilemeter. Surface morphology was analyzed by using scanning electron microscopy. There was a significant difference in microhardness and roughness between the restorative materials (p<0.05). The highest microhardness was measured for Equia and lowest for glass carbomer with gloss. The roughness was fully definite for the glass carbomer with gloss and indefinite for the glass carbomer without gloss. Small cracks and voids were observed in all groups. High viscosity glass ionomer cement Equia exhibits the high physical strength than RMGIC. Gloss application does not influence the hardness behavior of GCP.
