Opis:
Paper presents utilized innovative setup for eddy current tomography and possibility of its utilization in testing oxide materials such as ferrites. Previously reported tests concerned materials with high conductivity which is the most typical usage of eddy current tests. Described tomography setup is designed for testing axisymmetric objects thus typical ferrite ring was selected for exemplary testing. Tests were conducted on ring in original state. Afterwards reference defect was created on element and measurements were repeated. Significant difference between tests results were observed, thus potential for utilization in controlling of ferrite rings manufacturing process was confirmed. Finite element method simulations were applied in order to confirm the measurement results. Calculations were conducted in open-source finite element method software, which solves the Maxwell equations in the A-V form. Modelling results confirm possibility of finite element method-based inverse tomography transformation.

Opis:
For the first time influence of humidity on photoconductivity transient characteristics are studied for antimony sulfoiodide (SbSI) single nanowires. While negative photoconductivity is observed for SbSI gel, made up of large quantity of nanowires, only the positive effect occurs for SbSI single nanowires. Photoconductivity current response on switching on and off illumination in moist $N_{2}$ represents so-called hook anomaly.

Opis:
The following paper presents the results of investigation on the magnetoelastic Villari effect in structural steel magnetized in the so-called Rayleigh region, which corresponds to relatively low magnetizing fields, much lower than coercive field. Two grades of structural steel were investigated during the performed measurements. Obtained results indicate significant correlation between applied mechanical stress and magnetic properties of the investigated materials.

Opis:
For the first time the thermal desorption of $H_2$, $N_2$, $O_2$ and $CO_2$ is presented for antimony sulfoiodide (SbSI) xerogel made up of large quantity nanowires. The desorption has been observed near ferroelectric phase transition established at $T_{c}$=293.0(2) K. The Sievert measurements have shown that the hydrogen uptake is linear function of $H_2$ pressure (when p < 1.1×$10^5$ Pa). The hydrogen storage density in SbSI gel amounted 1.24× $10^{-2}$ wt% (for p = 1.08×$10^5$ Pa at room temperature).

Opis:
Nanostructures created by living organisms, optimized through millions of years of evolution, can be a valuable inspiration for nanotechnology. We employ atomic force microscopy to examine such structures in materials created by common organisms - caddisfly and diatoms. Caddisfly larvae are well known for their ability to spin silk, which serves as an "adhesive tape" to glue various materials and collect food in aqueous environment. Atomic force microscopy imaging of caddisfly silk, performed for the first time by our team, has shown that its surface is patterned with 150 nm extensions - a feature related to its exceptional underwater sticking abilities. Results of force spectroscopy of protein structures found on the surface are also shown. A characteristic feature of diatoms is that they are encased within a unique silica cell wall called frustules, patterned with 200 nm pores, which allow cellular interaction with the environment. We perform atomic force microscopy imaging of frustules in living diatoms as well as adhesion measurements inside pores.

Opis:
For the first time current quantization is reported for antimony sulfoiodide (SbSI) nanowires. It has been registered in current responses on electric field switching as well as on illumination on and off. Current steps determined in all experiments have been equal to each other within the experimental error. It has been explained by the quantized change of free carrier concentration in nanowire. Lateral dimensions of SbSI nanowires estimated from quantum steps are comparable with geometrical data reported for the same technology of material preparation.
