Opis:
The near-band-edge photoluminescence spectra of very high quality hexagonal ZnO single crystals in the temperature range between 9 and 305 K were measured. Based on the energetic positions and the evolutions of well-resolved photoluminescence lines with temperature and with excitation power density we interpret the observed photoluminescence lines as resulting from recombination of the free-exciton, bound-exciton, biexciton, inelastic exciton-exciton collision and electron-hole plasma.

NdBa$\text{}_{2}$Cu$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{7-δ}$ superconducting thin films were grown on SrTiO$\text{}_{3}$(100) and LaSrGaO$\text{}_{4}$(100) substrates by off-axis rf sputtering and pulsed laser deposition. The effects of several deposition parameters, e.g. gas pressure, substrate temperature and energy density were studied. Thin films grown by off-axis rf sputtering were highly c-axis oriented, but those by pulsed laser deposition were predominantly a-axis oriented under our deposition conditions. However, the c-axis oriented portion for the films grown by pulsed laser deposition was increased by increasing the temperature above 800°C. T$\text{}_{c(zero)}$ was 87 K and 83 K for the c- and a-axis oriented films respectively. The critical current density of c-axis oriented films was 10$\text{}^{6}$-10$\text{}^{7}$ A/cm$\text{}^{2}$ below 60 K.

We investigate the propagation of ultraslow optical pulse in atomic Bose-Einstein condensate in a harmonic trap decorated with a dimple potential. The role of dimple potential on the group velocity and time delay is studied. Since we consider the interatomic scattering interactions, nonlinear Schrödinger equation or the Gross-Pitaevskii equation is used in order to get the density profile of the atomic system. We find large group delays of order 1 ms in an atomic Bose-Einstein condensate in a harmonic trap with a deep dimple potential.

In this paper, we present a preliminary summary of our recent results on the enhancement of the electron-positron annihilation rate in d-band metals based on our recently published optimized quasi-free Bloch-modified ladder [QF-BML(opt.)] theory. This approach enables us to investigate the influence of the periodical lattice potential on the electron-positron annihilation in an approximative but nevertheless physically reasonable way. We used our theory for calculations of momentum-dependent enhancement factors belonging to electron states of different (s-, p-, d-) character in simple, transition and noble metals (Na, Cu, Pd, V). It is interesting to compare these new BML results with corresponding results obtained by the local density approximation (LDA) according to the work of Daniuk et al. We observe relatively strong differences between the BML and LDA enhancement factors for metals whose polarization process is dominated by s or p electrons. In such cases, we presume that the LDA approach has the tendency to overestimate the role of the more-localized d electrons in the polarization of the inhomogeneous electron gas. For transition metals whose physics is mainly determined by such d electrons, the discrepancies between BML and LDA enhancement results are significantly smaller.

In this study, nanostructured ZnO thin film coatings produced by sol-gel method have been examined and characterized. ZnO thin film coatings synthesized by the preparation of ZnO sols in the liquid phase from homogeneous solutions with precursor of zinc acetate dihydrate (Zn(CH₃COO)₂·2H₂O). Ethanol (C₂H₅OH) has been used as a solvent material and monoethanolamine (MEA) has been used as a complexing agent. The final solutions have 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and 1 molar concentrations. General morphologies and detailed structural characterizations have been obtained by using scanning electron microscope (SEM). Qualitative analyses of the synthesized coatings were performed using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy. The Raman spectroscopy studies of precursor, solution and final products were carried out to investigate transformation of the chemical compounds from the initial material to the final coating.

Piezoelectric ceramics $(Na_{0.5}Bi_{0.5})TiO_3$ + 0.5 mol.% Mn (Mn-NBT) have been synthesized by mechanical activation of mixed oxides BiO₂, Na₂CO₃, TiO₂ and MnO for 1 h at room temperature. Non-activated and activated Mn-NBT powders were characterized by using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Also, the mechanical activation-derived Mn-NBT powders were uniaxially pressed and all pellets were sintered at 1000°C and 1200°C for 2 h in air atmosphere. The microstructure and phase analysis of sintered pellets was investigated by using scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction.

A solar cell (indium tin oxide (ITO)/p-doped amorphous silicon (p-a-Si:H)/intrinsic polymorphous silicon (i-pm-Si:H)/n-doped crystalline silicon (n-c-Si)) simulation, focused on p-layer doping density NA and surface band bending $E_\text{sbb}$ at the interface ITO/p-layer has been performed. Despite the deterioration of p-layer material quality with doping density, the reduced bulk recombination was found to compensate for the increased loss in the p-layer. An increase of p-layer doping density NA and contact barrier height $\phi_{b0}$ (variation of the surface band bending $E_\text{sbb}$) leads to an increase of the efficiency of heterojunction with intrinsic thin layer solar cells.

The temperature variation of the nuclear quadrupole resonance frequencies in 3,4-dichloro-aniline and 2,6-dichloro-aniline were fitted to three different models available in literature, namely the Kushida model, the Brown model, and a fourth order polynomial. Brown's model with T$\text{}_{0}$=205 K gave the best fit in the case of both compounds indicating that the temperature dependence of the torsional frequencies cannot be neglected in these compounds. The internal torsional frequencies were evaluated from the nuclear quadrupole resonance data by using a two-mode approximation in a temperature range of 77-300 K for the above two compounds. The torsional frequencies lie in a range of 30-60 cm$\text{}^{-1}$ in both compounds and agree closely with the Raman lines obtained in 2,6-dichloro-aniline. The lower frequency mode around 37 cm$\text{}^{-1}$ may be associated with the motion around an axis perpendicular to the benzene ring which is present in both compounds.

The crystal field parameters of base-free (Me$\text{}_{3}$SiC$\text{}_{5}$H$\text{}_{4}$)$\text{}_{3}$Pr, (C$\text{}_{5}$H$\text{}_{5}$)$\text{}_{3}$Pr·NCCH$\text{}_{3}$, (C$\text{}_{5}$H$\text{}_{5}$)$\text{}_{3}$La(NCCH$\text{}_{3}$)$\text{}_{2}$:Pr, [Pr(C$\text{}_{8}$H$\text{}_{8}$)]$\text{}^{+}$ and Nd[N(SiMe$\text{}_{3}$)$\text{}_{2}$]$\text{}_{3}$ as model compound for Nd[CH(SiMe$\text{}_{3}$)$\text{}_{2}$]$\text{}_{3}$ were inserted into the corresponding energy matrices of a model spin-free f$\text{}^{1}$ system. Diagonalizing these matrices the crystal field splitting patterns of the f orbitals were calculated. These experimentally based molecular orbital schemes are compared with the results of previous model calculations.

The present study investigates corrosion behaviors and electric conductivity of AA7075 in situ (TiAl₃) and ex situ (B₄C) composites produced by powder metallurgy method. In production of in situ composites, various amounts of Ti (2, 4 and 6%) are added to AA7075 and for production of ex situ composites, B₄C (3, 6, and 9%) are added. Prepared in situ and ex situ composite powders were pre-shaped at 600 MPa pressure with cold pressing. Pre-shaped samples were sintered in the atmosphere-controlled furnace at 580°C for 4 h. Corrosion test of produced composites was conducted in 0.1 M H₂SO₄ solution. As a result of these analyses, corrosion examinations on in situ manufactured composites revealed that anode and cathode currents are close to each other and those composites do not exhibit different corrosion behaviors. Corrosion rate of B₄C added ex situ composites increases by B₄C rate (due to increase of density of current).

In this study, corrosion and electric conductivity of aluminum hybrid composites (in situ TiAl₃ and ex situ B₄C) produced by powder metallurgy are investigated. Hybrid (in situ and ex situ) aluminum composite powders are produced by adding different amounts of titanium and B₄C into AA7075 alloy powders. After the hybrid composite powders are cold pressed (600 MPa), they are sintered in atmosphere controlled furnace at 580°C for 4 h. As a result of this study, it was observed that increase of B₄C%(Ti constant) decreases density and increase of Ti%(B₄C constant) increases the density of composites. It was determined that corrosion resistances (R_{p}) of hybrid composites decreased due to interface surfaces formed between the reinforcement phase and the matrix.

In this study, free-standing zincoxide/multiwalled carbon nanotube nanocomposite was synthesized by a multistep technique. Buckypapers having controlled porosity were prepared by vacuum filtration from oxidized multiwalled carbon nanotubes. Zinc acetate dihydrate (ZnAc) ($Zn(CH_3COO)_2$ ·$2H_2O$) was used as zinc source and ethanol used as solvent. An appropriate amount of monoethanolamine was added to sol to change acid-base media. The solution was vacuum filtered through buckypaper and annealed at 350C in air. It was found that the zinc oxide grows around the multiwalled carbon nanotubes to form a uniform composite. Morphology of zine oxide/multiwalled carbon nanotube was also studied in detail. Nanocomposite was characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy.

In this study, tin/tinoxide/multiwalled carbon nanotube (Sn/$SnO_2$/MWCNT) nanocomposites were produced as anode materials for Li-ion batteries by a two-step process. Metallic tin was evaporated onto free-standing MWCNT buckypapers having controlled porosity and subsequently rf plasma oxidized in Ar:$O_2$ (1:1) gas mixture. Besides, Sn/$SnO_2$ nanocomposites were produced in the same conditions onto stainless steel substrates to make a comparison. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy were used to determine the structure and morphology of the obtained nanocomposites. The discharge/charge tests, cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were carried out to characterize the electrochemical properties of these composites. Promising results were obtained in the tin based MWCNT nanocomposites for next-generation micro battery applications because of the high active surface area of the $SnO_2$/MWCNT core-shell structures.

Opis:
Self amplified stimulated emission free electron laser production from electron energy above 1.5 GeV is studied to obtain 1-100 nm laser wavelength. Design simulations of linear accelerating system with gun and enjector system has been done in more detail by considering space charge effect for electron beam. Electromagnetic field for superconducting cavities, solenoid fields, cavity defects such as Higher Order Modes, Multipacting, Lorentz Force Detuning, and beam behaviour along the beamline are very important details for this study. Optimised cavity cell design layout are provided in order to obtain quality factor $10^9$ for designed cavities throughout the main linear acceleration. To determine coupling factor, and zero modes and also other modes with relative errors are searched.

The present study investigates the effects of the ageing parameters of the precipitation-strengthened nickel-copper based K-500 alloy produced by powder metallurgy on the wear behavior of the alloy. After the cold pressing the prepared alloy powders under 600 MPa pressure, the samples were sintered under vacuum (10¯⁶ mbar) at 1150°C for 2 h and then cooled in the furnace. Produced K-500 alloy samples were taken into solution at 980°C for 1 h and quenched. Ageing process was carried out at 480°C for four different time periods (6, 8, 10, and 12 h). Aged samples were examined transmission electron microscope (TEM + EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), hardness and density measurements. The wear tests were carried out at 1 ms¯¹ constant sliding speed, under 40 N load and for five different sliding distances (400-2000 m). The results showed that there is γ' Ni₃(Al, Ti) inter-metallic phase coexisting with $Al_{0.9}Ni_{4.22}$, AlNi₃ and NiO phases. According to the hardness measurements, the highest hardness values were obtained with samples aged for 8 h. In wear tests with 2000 m sliding distance, the lowest weight loss was observed for the samples aged for 8 h.
