Opis:
We study the evolution from BCS to Bose limit in a two-dimensional d-wave superconductor at zero temperature and low density of charge carriers within the mean-field theory. We examine single quasiparticle properties when particle density and attraction strength are varied. For sufficiently high interaction strength there is a critical density below which the system has a gap. The spectral and thermodynamic properties of the system do not evolve smoothly from the BCS-like to the Bose-like regime.

Opis:
The luminescence of In$\text{}_{x}$Ga$\text{}_{1-x}$N is studied for thick epitaxial layers and quantum wells. Using spatially resolved cathodoluminescence spectroscopy the commonly observed broad integral photoluminescence spectra were found to result from spectral and lateral inhomogeneous emission across the samples. Moreover, the integral photoluminescence and absorption spectra show different temperature dependences. The effects can be explained assuming fluctuations of the composition associated with a variation of the band gap.

Opis:
Coupled nonlinear integrable systems in (2+1) dimension are generated from a matrix Schrodinger-type inverse problem and solved explicitly to demonstrate a new phenomenon of overturning. Both, the two- and three-dimensional graphical depictions of the solution are presented. Our analysis is an extension of the uncoupled case reported earlier by Bogoyavlenskii. A unique feature of the solution is the occurrence of arbitrary functions of (y, t) in its functional form, which significantly changes the behaviour of the solution.

The parametrized models are compared with counter-intuitive consequences of the non-relativistic Schrödinger treatment. For both 4f$\text{}^{ q}$, 5f$\text{}^{ q}$ and d$\text{}^{9}$ systems in condensed matter, the energy levels must be strongly influenced by correlation effects. The parametrization of intensities is conceptually very different for f$\text{}^{ q}$ and d$\text{}^{9}$ compounds. The bandwidths of absorption and luminescence are discussed and related to the Born-Oppenheimer factorization.

In this paper we report our experimental and theoretical studies on the effect of Tb impurity on the magnetic properties of the Heusler half metallic ferromagnet $Co_2MnSi$. The analysis of the band structures of the doped alloy shows that the half-metallic properties are completely conserved if Tb substitute Mn atoms, this effect being determined through the coupling between the R(4f) spin with the Mn(3d) itinerant electron spins. We evaluate the strength of such a coupling by calculating, in an ab initio fashion, the total energy of $Co_{16}Mn_7TbSi_8$ compound for a parallel and antiparallel f-d coupling. The experimental magnetic moments are in good agreement with the calculated ones in case of ferrimagnetic ordering.

Opis:
The sol-gel technology allows preparation of the thin silica films ranging in porosity from dense to highly porous. These films can function as matrix binding molecules of pH-sensitive indicators and can be utilized as sensitive coatings for intensity based planar evanescent wave chemical sensors. This paper is devoted to manufacturing technology and characterization of highly porous silica films deposited on soda-lime glass substrates, impregnated with bromocresole purple and cresole red. Two different methods of impregnation were used: dip coating, which entails sensitization of both silica films deposited on each side of a substrate and selective deposition of a dye solution on single side of the substrate. Manufactured sensitive films were tested toward influence of gaseous ammonia and nitrogen dioxide on their spectral characteristics of the absorption coefficient and the imaginary part of the refractive index. It was shown that bromocresole purple allows detection of both gases: $NH_3$ and $NO_2$.

Opis:
The paper presents the results of the investigations involving the influence of the change of launching conditions on the characteristics of the planar amplitude evanescent wave ammonia sensors. Investigated sensors are based on the channel gradient waveguides, which are produced with the application of the ion exchange in glasses. In our investigations we have tested two sensor structures of different refractive index profiles. The absorption sensitive films were produced using sol-gel technology.

We study the superconducting instabilities generated by the inclusion in the Anderson lattice model of a density-density attractive potential between correlated electrons on nearest-neighbouring sites. Using a description of the normal phase based on a perturbative expansion around the atomic limit, we treat the attractive potential in the broken-symmetry Hartree-Fock scheme and analyze which of the possible symmetries of the superconducting order parameter leads to the highest possible transition temperature in the case of a two-dimensional square lattice. For values of the on-site f-repulsion large compared to the hopping amplitude, a suppression of any possible superconducting phase occurs, regardless of the symmetry of the order parameter.

Opis:
A Darboux-Bäcklund transformation is used to obtain a positon type solution of the nonlinear equations describing the propagation of coupled nonlinear optical pulses.This form of the positon solution is then compared with that obtained by the special limiting procedure applied to a two-soliton solution. It is observed that though the algebraic form of the two solutions is different yet both of these have singularities and the position of the singularities remains on the similar curve in the (x,t) plane. We also depict the form of these solutions graphically. Finally, it may be added that the method of Darboux-Bäcklund transformation is convenient for generating more than one-positon solution.

The $\text{}^{4}$I $\text{}_{9}\text{}_{/}\text{}_{2}$ → $\text{}^{4}$I $\text{}_{15}\text{}_{/}\text{}_{2}$ luminescence decay curves for a series of complexes Er(pdc)$\text{}_{n}$(acac)$\text{}_{3-n}$ (pdc = pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate, acac = acetylacetonate, n = 0, 1, 2, 3) as solids and in dilute aqueous solutions have been investigated. The decays are multiexponential, possible reasons for this and for the short lifetimes observed are discussed.

Thermal emission from resonant DX levels in Ge-doped GaAlAs was studied by measuring the temperature transients of free electron concentration. Pressure was used to fill the levels with electrons. Two emission peaks are observed in AlGaAs:Ge. This enables us to confirm that Ge, similarly to Si dopant, is stabilized upon dangling bond C$\text{}_{3v}$ configuration in AlGaAs. Analysis of experimental data allows us to determine parameters of two components of the DX multilevel system. Evaluated alloy splitting of ground and top of the barrier states: 45 meV is comparable with determined for Si donor.

CALCULATIONS OF THE CONSTRAINTS IN A THIN FILM DEPOSITED ON THE SUBSTRATE: The aim of the present paper is to give simple calculations of the constraints in a thin film deposited on the substrate. The thin film can be obtained by the recrystallization of the surface. It is considered in relation to its substrate, where the force is linearly proportional to the surface area of the film. On the other hand, it is considered to be under the action of a force related to the thermic and compressional constraints. The initial and final boundary conditions in the linearized model play an essential role in the model adopted.

Cobalt-Nickel alloys have been widely used for decoration, in magnetic recording devices and corrosion resistance applications, etc. In this study, the influences of cobalt amount in electrolyte on the magnetic and structural properties of the electrodeposited Co-Ni alloys were investigated. An electrolyte solution, consisting of cobalt sulfate, nickel sulfate, nickel chloride and boric acid, was used in electrodeposition. The electrochemical investigation of Co-Ni alloys was completed using cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic studies. The morphological and structural analyses of the alloys were performed using inductively coupled plasma, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and vibrating sample magnetometer techniques. The effect of cobalt concentration on the magnetic properties, phase structure and grain size of the alloys was investigated. Magnetic hysteresis results indicate that the amount of the cobalt content in the electrolyte has a strong influence on the ferromagnetic behavior of fabricated alloys. Results of the study show that changing the electrodeposition parameters, such as composition of electrolyte solution, allows to fabricate alloys with different properties.

Opis:
Ion implantation is a method largely used to fabricate shallow junctions in the surface target. However, the ions are randomly redistributed and a huge damage is generated in the sample. Annealing treatments are thus necessary to restore defects and to activate the dopant. Among several elements, antimony is particularly attractive since it has low diffusivity in silicon which means that is suitable to obtain ultra shallow junctions. Moreover, antimony is attractive in many applications such as the fabrication of transistors and infrared detectors. In this work, the electrical activation of antimony is studied in case of silicon target.

Opis:
The fast differential amplifier-based integrated circuit yield analysis technique, which enables determining the interrelation between the integrated circuit yield and dimensions of circuit elements, has been presented. The technique is based on the common use of experimental statistical analysis and statistical modeling as well as on the introduction of the concept of the integrated circuit intermediate parameters. The results of yield analysis of the concrete integrated circuit based on the differential amplifiers are presented.
