Opis:
The influence of the microwave power on the internal Josephson Junction System (JJS) in granular high T$\text{}_{c}$, superconductors was investigated using EPR methodology. Josephson Microwave Absorption signal was used to monitor local temperature of the Josephson Junction System while the bulk sample temperature was measured by a thermocouple. The effect of the JJS overheating is discussed as the consequence of an interaction between JJS, microwave field and the bulk sample.

We discuss the applied magnetic field dependence of the microwave absorption by a three-dimensional array of up to 30×30 ×30 Josephson junctions with random parameters including the resistivity, capacity, and inductance of each junction. The numerical simulation results for the networks show characteristic microwave absorption anomalies observed in the ceramic samples of high temperature superconductor YBa$\text{}_{2}$Cu$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{7-x}$. We also provide a discussion of the absorption in simple analytical terms of the Josephson loop instabilities.

Electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy EPR was used for examination of microwave saturation in DOPA-melanin complexes with kanamycin and Cu(II) ions. The fast spin-lattice relaxation processes take place in system of paramagnetic metal ions. EPR signal of melanin radical saturated with growing of microwave power used during measurements. After adding Cu(II) ions a shortening of relaxation time is observed for EPR signal of melanin radical.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to present a novel microwave microplasma source generated in different gases at atmospheric pressure. The design, rule of operation and experimental investigations of the new microwave microplasma source are described. The main advantage of the presented microwave microplasma source is its small size, simplicity, and low cost of construction and operation. The microplasma has a form of a small plasma jet of dimensions of a few mm, depending on the kind of gas, gas flow rate, and absorbed microwave power. Presented in this paper results of experimental investigations were obtained with an atmospheric pressure argon, krypton, nitrogen, and air microplasma, sustained by microwaves of standard frequency of 2.45 GHz. The absorbed microwave power was up to 70 W. The gas flow rate was from 2 to 25 l/min. The miniature size, simplicity of the source and stability of the microplasma allow to conclude that the presented new microwave microplasma source can find practical applications in various fields.

Opis:
We report on the numerical investigation of the resistive sensor for the 78-118 GHz range. A three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain method was applied to simulate the wave propagation within a waveguide segment with the semiconductor sensor attached to a wider wall of the wave-guide. The electric field distribution, voltage standing-wave ratio and the average electric field dependences on frequency have been determined for several sets of dimensions and specific resistances of the sample. It is demonstrated that a proper selection of the dimensions and specific resistance of the sample can compensate the waveguide dispersion and the decrease of the electron heating effect with frequency. Therefore, a nearly constant sensitivity of the sensor can be obtained for the entire frequency range.

Opis:
Two types of resistive sensors with flat frequency response for microwave pulse power measurements in X-band rectangular waveguide WR-90 up to 100 kW were developed and experimentally investigated. The first type of the sensors demonstrates higher sensitivity and larger output signal, while the second one exhibits better linearity of the output signal. The experimental investigations revealed the sensitivity variation within ± 10% in 8.2-12.2 GHz frequency band.

Opis:
The need for repetitive high-power microwave systems, for instance within the scope of convoy protection, requires the availability of compact, repetitive pulsed-power generators. The development and the first experimental results of an upgraded balanced ISL Marx generator for future repetitive operations at pulse repetition frequencies in the order of 100 Hz are introduced. A key objective is to keep the fundamental modular coaxial concept by reason of its scalability and compactness. Simulation models were developed under the PSpice software package in order to investigate the charging and discharging phases of the Marx generator and also to determine the design criteria for repetitive operations. The charging resistors were replaced by ultracompact inductors for rapid charging, being able to withstand pulsed voltages up to 60 kV and pulsed currents up to 1.4 kA during the discharge phase. An improved type of strontium-titanate high-voltage ceramic capacitor was successfully tested experimentally up to 70 kV. Each new elementary stage of the Marx generator consists of eight 1.1 nF sectors of a cylinder capacitors mounted in parallel, two charging inductors of about 17.8 μH and two halves of spherical spark gaps. The pressurized self-triggered gas switches are arranged along the axis for fast consecutive breakdown thanks to the UV radiation emitted during the breakdown in each gap. The stages are installed in individual fibreglass housings. First experimental results of a 4-stage Marx generator in repetitive operation, driven by a 4 kW capacitor charging power supply up to a maximum voltage of 40 kV, are presented.

Opis:
Investigations of detection of high power microwaves in planar asymmetrically shaped microwave diodes on the basis of Al$\text{}_{x}$Ga$\text{}_{1-x}$As ternary semiconductors with various AlAs mole fraction are presented. The principle of operation of the microwave diodes is based on carrier heating phenomena in asymmetrically shaped homogeneous semiconductor structure due to different distribution of the electric field strength along the sample. Experimental results of microwave detection on the barrier-less asymmetrically shaped diodes are presented paying special attention to the homogeneity of Al$\text{}_{x}$Ga$\text{}_{1-x}$As which was monitored by photoluminescence technique.

Opis:
The low power reactor for microwave chemical vapor deposition process is described. The rotating Mo holder of 12 mm diameter and 6 mm height with the diamond substrate was heated by 2.45 GHz microwaves to temperature about 800°C in the range of (1.5-7)% $CH_{4}//H_{2}$ mixture to create plasma at pressure 70 Tr. Stabilization of the holder temperature was performed by optical observation of radiation from the holder followed by adjusting of the magnetron power. Diamond detectors are produced using microwave chemical vapor deposition process grown on single crystal diamond high pressure high temperature Sumimoto substrates, [100] oriented. The response of diamond detectors for X-rays has been measured in the current mode using medical X-rays tube. The linear response of the diamond detector current versus X-ray tube current (dose) is presented.
