The structural, magnetic, electronic, dynamical and thermodynamic properties of PuN have been studied within the frameworks of the density-functional theory, DFT+U and hybrid DFT. The calculations have been performed using the full-potential-linearized augmented plane-wave method. The ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic configurations are considered in this work. The lattice constants, bulk moduli, densities of states, and thermodynamic data have been computed and compared to available experimental data and other theoretical calculations published in the literature. Total energy results obtained with DFT+U and hybrid DFT indicate that the ground state of PuN is antiferromagnetic, in agreement with experiment. The chemical bonds between Pu and N have a mixture of covalent and ionic components, but the ionic character is stronger than covalent character. The phonon dispersion curves and the optical-mode frequencies are also reported. At last, the effect of spin-orbit coupling on the structural, magnetic, and electronic properties of PuN has been discussed.

Multiobjective Quadratic Assignment

Opis:
In this study, we propose a novel hybrid multiobjective evolutionary algorithm for solving multiobjective quadratic assignment problems. During the last decade, the researchers gave increasing attention to the multiobjective structure of quadratic assignment problems and developed and/or used several multi objective metaheuristics. The nondominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) has been shown to solve various multiobjective problems much better than other recently-proposed constraint handling approaches. Besides, the effectiveness of conic scalarization method was also proven for solution of multiobjective problems, that have non-linear structure. Here, a hybrid multiobjective evolutionary algorithm (cNSGA-II) featured with NSGA-II and conic scalarization's Pareto solutions is developed to obtain as much Pareto points, as possible. To test the performance of the algorithm we have selected the test problems from the literature and compared the performances by well-known diameter metric. It has been shown that cNSGA-II is effective in solving multiobjective quadratic assignment problems.

In this paper, for the first time, a high performance hybrid silicon evanescent traveling wave electroabsorption modulator based on asymmetric intra-step-barrier coupled double strained quantum wells active layer is introduced which has double steps at III/V mesa structure. Through this active layer, hybrid silicon evanescent traveling wave electroabsorption modulator will be advantages such as very low insertion loss, zero chirp, high extinction ratio, and large Stark shift and better figures of merit as compared with multiquantum well and intra-step quantum well structures. Furthermore, traveling wave electroabsorption modulator with double steps III/V mesa structure results in a wider bandwidth as compared with one-step III/V mesa and mushroom structures. For the modulator with double steps III/V mesa structure with a 200 μm length, the 3 dB bandwidths are obtained as 132 and 52 GHz for 25 and 40 Ω characteristic impedances, respectively.

In the paper we study transport in the three terminal hybrid devices with quantum dot. Our attention is focused on the conductance threshold effects (so called Wigner singularities) caused by the back action from the side-wire. In particular we study influence of the direct electron transfer (ET) and crossed Andreev reflection (CAR) processes on the conductance caused by the direct Andreev reflection (DAR) processes.

Power quality disturbances have adverse impacts on the electric power supply as well as on the customer equipment. Therefore, the detection and classification of such problems is necessary. In this paper, a fast detection algorithm for power quality disturbances is presented. The proposed method is a hybrid of two algorithms, abc-0dq transformation and 90ırc phase shift algorithms. The proposed algorithm is fast and reliable in detecting most voltage disturbances in power systems such as voltage sags, voltage swells, voltage unbalance, interrupts, harmonics, etc. The three-phase utility voltages are sensed separately by each of the algorithms. These algorithms are combined to explore their individual strengths for a better performance. When a disturbance occurs, both algorithms work together to recognize this distortion. This control method can be used for critical loads protection in case of utility voltage distortion. Simulation and analysis results obtained in this study illustrate high performance of the strategy in different single-phase and three-phase voltage distortions.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of hybridization of fabrics on wear properties of epoxy composites and to relate them to impact properties. With this aim carbon/glass/Kevlar fabrics were hybridized to reinforce epoxy composites. Epoxy composites reinforced with only carbon, glass or Kevlar fabrics were also prepared as reference composites. The wear tests were carried out using a pin-on-disk device. The wear surfaces of composite specimens were examined by scanning electron microscopy to investigate the different behavior of three distinct fabrics in the hybrid composites. The results have shown that carbon fabric reinforced epoxy composite exhibited the highest wear resistance, whereas the wear resistance of Kevlar fabric reinforced epoxy composite was the lowest. As expected, the wear resistance of hybrid composites was lower than that of only carbon fabric reinforced composites.

In this study, a method for manufacturing polymer/metal hybrid structure is presented in which traditional plastic injection machine was converted to plastic injection forming (PIF). In this method, deforming of the metal and adhering the metal to the polymer is done in one step. In the experimental study, a special mold within rectangular cavity was used during PIF process. Aluminum plates of different thicknesses were used as the metal parts of the structure. The injected polymers were pure polystyrene and elastomer-added polystyrene. The deformability of the Al plates was examined under different injection pressures. In order to provide adhesion between metal and polymer, an adhesive of elastomeric nature was applied on the metal plate prior to injection molding. Bending test was applied to determine the flexural strength and maximum deflection of the polymer/metal hybrid structures. The obtained results were satisfactorily acceptable in improving the method for designing and manufacturing polymer/metal hybrid structures in one step.

In this paper the design stages of a mixed photovoltaic-wind energy system, supplied with solar and wind energy was discussed. First, general information about the employed wind turbines and solar panels is given and their basic characteristics are addressed. Then, essential information for the system setup and measurements was given. The system setup, operation of the system, the ways to store energy and how energy is consumed were described and the results were interpreted. This study serves as a background for the experimental studies in the future.

The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of cutting parameters and effect of graphite rate on cutting force and surface roughness in drilling of Al/20%SiC/5%Gr, Al/20%SiC/7.5%Gr and Al /20%SiC/10%Gr hybrid composites, fabricated by vortex method. The drilling tests are conducted with diamond-like-carbon coated cutting tools. The Grey relational analysis based Taguchi optimization method was selected to determine the optimum cutting conditions. The results show that the spindle speed (4500 rpm), the rate of graphite (10%) and feed (0.1 mm/rev) were found to be significant parameters for surface roughness and cutting force. The predicted values from the developed model and experimental values are found to be very similar in this study.

In this study, corrosion and electric conductivity of aluminum hybrid composites (in situ TiAl₃ and ex situ B₄C) produced by powder metallurgy are investigated. Hybrid (in situ and ex situ) aluminum composite powders are produced by adding different amounts of titanium and B₄C into AA7075 alloy powders. After the hybrid composite powders are cold pressed (600 MPa), they are sintered in atmosphere controlled furnace at 580°C for 4 h. As a result of this study, it was observed that increase of B₄C%(Ti constant) decreases density and increase of Ti%(B₄C constant) increases the density of composites. It was determined that corrosion resistances (R_{p}) of hybrid composites decreased due to interface surfaces formed between the reinforcement phase and the matrix.

Conductance in a three-terminal hybrid system with two quantum dots is analyzed. Our attention is focused on an influence of decoherence on interference effects in the Andreev transport. In particular, we have found that a change of coupling to the third electrode can strongly modify a shape of the Fano-type resonances. This effect is due to activation of nonlocal Andreev reflection (CAR) processes.

This study describes the synthesis of silane terminated urethane, aimed at adding into epoxy acrylate, for the coating purposes. For this aim, firstly, silane terminated urethane was synthesized by the reaction between poly(hexamethylene carbonate) diol and 3-isocyanatopropyltrimethoxysilane. Pre-hydrolyzed TEOS and MEMO mixture was added to the silane terminated urethane. This solution was then mixed with organic part (epoxy acrylate and HDDA) to obtain hybrid solutions. Different organic-inorganic hybrid formulations were applied on polystyrene sheet surfaces by using applicators. The performance of the coatings on polystyrene sheets was investigated by applying physical and chemical tests. The results have shown that physical and chemical properties of polystyrene sheet surfaces were significantly improved.

The photovoltaic and electronic properties of p-Si/poly[2-methoxy,5-(2-ethyl-hexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene] (MEH-PPV):[6, 6]-phenyl $C_{61}$-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) organic-inorganic device have been investigated. The current-voltage characteristic of p-Si/PCBM:MEH-PPV photodiode includes series resistance effect and the diode indicates a non-ideal behavior. The photovoltaic effect in p-Si/PCBM:MEH-PPV photodiode is based on the formation of excitons and subsequent dissociation and charge collection at the electrodes. It is evaluated that p-Si/PCBM:MEH-PPV device is a photodiode with $V_{oc}$ of 84 mV and $I_{sc}$ of 3.47 nA electronic parameters.

2D-photonic crystal has the close packed hexagonal structure of metallized spheres. The selection rules are first necessary thing for understanding of interactions between differently polarized light and artificial photonic structure. This problem is the object of our paper. Known methods of group theory allow to solve such problems. However, the knowledge about symmetry of structure is the starting point of them. Usually the X-ray diffraction provides such information about natural 3D-crystals. Such assumptions so far have to do after the visual research of photonic structures in practice. Further these assumptions may be confirmed (or vice versa) by experimental research of optical response of photonic structures. We assumed that the symmetry of photonic structure is close to 2D (P6mm) group. Group-theoretical calculations were provided using the system of computer mathematics Maple. Both polarizations, normal to surface and parallel to that plane, were taken into consideration. The obtained selections rules were confirmed later by independent experiments.

We investigate main theoretical aspects of two-dimensional linear-hybrid cellular automata with periodic boundary condition over the Galois field GF(2). We focus on the characterization of two-dimensional hybrid linear cellular automata by way of a special algorithm. Here we set up a relation between reversibility of cellular automata and characterization of two-dimensional hybrid linear cellular automata with a special boundary conditions, i.e. periodic case. The determination of the characterization problem of special type of cellular automaton is studied by means of the matrix algebra theory. It is believed that this type of cellular automata could find many different applications in special case situations, e.g. image processing area, textile design, video processing, DNA research, etc., in the near future.
