Opis:
Nowadays, technical possibilities to build and implement new solution in industry or scientists research are very wide. PC computer with dedicated environmental software makes building equipment previously reserved to FPGA systems possible. In this article we focus on building a sound level meter application. The main reason to undertake this problem was to check precision of sound level meter consisting of a dedicated computer program and the main board integrated sound card. All algorithms were implemented in LabVIEW 8.6, thus we call our system SLM_LV_v1.2c. In testing SLM_LV_v1.2c we have performed the calibration procedure in the Vibroacoustics Laboratory of the Department of Mechanics and Vibroacoustics (a Calibration Laboratory accredited by Polish Centre for Accreditation). The presented results show that our meter in a specific range meets requirements for 1st class sound level meters. Certainly, we can not use it as regular sound level meter without any other research like e.g. type approval, but at the same time we can consider it to be an inexpensive sound level indicator.At the end of the paper, we present results of comparison between measurements obtained with SLM_LV_v1.2c and the popular sound level meter SVAN 945A and show some sources of errors.

Velocities and scattering of transverse elastic wave propagating in the triglycine sulphate crystal doped with the Cr$\text{}^{3+}$ ions as a function of temperature and electric field which polarises the crystal were examined. Temperature dependencies of modulus of elasticity S$\text{}_{55}$ and modulus of rigidity C$\text{}_{55}$ as a function of temperature and an electric field were determined. The results were analysed and discussed.

This study summarizes the research results and environmental measurement data collected in the Lake Wessel Chamber in the salt mine Wieliczka. This chamber is a place where patients who suffer from upper airways diseases are treated during 14-days' therapeutic periods. Therapeutic properties of certain caverns and chambers have been well known since the 1950s while the therapeutic values of underground space, particularly the atmosphere, were discovered in the 1960s and the term "subterranotherapy' was subsequently coined up. The treatment is applied there whereby patients, mostly those suffering from respiratory diseases, are subjected to specific physical, chemical and biological stimuli which are available only underground, those stimuli featuring a complex natural structure and synergic biodynamics. Major features of the underground atmosphere determining its therapeutic properties include the presence of natural aerosols, electroaerosols, temperature, humidity, air circulation, ions, light radiation, electromagnetics, gravitation forces and pH of the atmosphere. This study summarises the radiation measurement data (concentrations of potential energy alpha Cα) and air composition measurements ($SO_2,$ $H_2S,$ $CO,$ $CO_2,$ $NO$ contents). the measurement procedures were in line with the relevant standards and regulations.

Opis:
Linear birefringence temperature changes are measured in the betaine phoshite crystal. The linear birefringence increments induced by antiferrodistortive, structural and ferroelectric phase transitions are analysed. Temperature derivatives of the linear birefringences are shown for comparison. Critical exponents are determined for both transitions. The antiferrodistortive phase transition is close to a tricritical one.

Measurements of spontaneous polarization and pyroelectric coefficient versus temperature and electric field were performed for the TGS-TGSe crystals at a definite internal electric field. The obtained results are compared with the thermodynamic theory predictions. The temperature and electric field dependencies of pyroelectric coefficient are presented together with its maximal value as a function of the electric field intensity. It was shown that the temperature, at which the pyroelectric coefficient reaches its maximal value, depends on the external electric field.

Opis:
The effect of cobalt impurities on transport and structural properties of doped ZnS has been studied through electrical resistivity, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Correlating the results obtained, it has been shown that the Co concentrations considerably influence the transport properties as well as the structural features, in particular the β → α phase transformation of ZnS.

Temperature dependencies of the characteristic optical paths difference D(Τ) of K2SeO4 crystal in the range of 80-295 K were measured using the Jamen type interferometer. Significant anomalies of D(Τ) dependencies in the vicinity of incommensurate-paraelectric phase transition (T$\text{}_{i}$ = 130 K) are observed. On the basis of D(Τ) temperature dependencies measured experimentally and linear expansion l(Τ) known, the temperature derivative of the refractive indices dn/dT are found to be negative in the ranges above and below the temperature T$\text{}_{i}$=130 K.

Basing on the ab initio calculations performed within full potential local orbital minimum basis method, the Mulliken occupation of the Sr 5s $(n_{5s})$ and Ba 6p $(n_{6p})$ states can serve as an indicator of transition to the superconducting state in doped SrFe₂As₂ and BaFe₂As₂ compounds where the iron was substituted with cobalt or in the pristine compounds under pressure. The estimated pressure, at which both compounds exhibit superconductivity based on Sr 5s and Ba 6p occupation is in good agreement with the recently published experimental data.

Results of optical thickness and refractive indices measurements for (NH$\text{}_{4}$)$\text{}_{2}$SbF$\text{}_{5}$ crystal in the temperature range 100-310 K are presented. The measurements were done with interference method using He-Ne laser (λ = 632.8 nm). At T$\text{}_{c1}$ = 292 K and T$\text{}_{C2}$ = 168 K two continuous phase transitions with critical indices β$\text{}_{1}$ = 0.38 and β$\text{}_{2}$ ≤ 0.57 were observed. Additional anomaly of temperature changes of interference order with maximum at T$\text{}_{c3}$ ≈ 132 K were found. This anomaly resembles a diffused transition. Temperature-averaged values of derivatives of refractive indices dn$\text{}_{g}$ /dT = -3.3 × 10$\text{}^{-5}$ K and dn$\text{}_{m}$/dT = -2.9 × 10$\text{}^{-5}$ K$\text{}^{-1}$ evidenced a decrease in optical anisotropy (birefringence) along the b-axis on heating run.

X-band electron paramagnetic resonance investigations of single crystals of Cr$\text{}^{3+}$-doped dimethylammonium gallium sulphate hexahydrate are presented from room temperature down to 110 K. The crystal undergoes a order-disorder phase transition to ferroelectric phase at 134 K and additionally a first-order transition into a low temperature non-ferroelectric phase at T$\text{}_{c2}$=116 K. The spin-Hamiltonian parameters were determined for paraelectric and ferroelectric phases. The spin-Hamiltonian parameters in the paraelectric phase are: g=1.982±0.002, b$\text{}_{2}^{0}$=(890±10)×10$\text{}^{-4}$ cm$\text{}^{-1}$, b=(386±15)×10$\text{}^{-4}$ cm$\text{}^{-1}$. Remarkable EPR line width changes confirm the order-disorder character of the ferroelectric phase transition. Additionally observed triplet lines demonstrate freezing-out of dimethylammonium reorientations which can be considered as a prime reason for this transition similarly as observed in dimethylammonium aluminium sulfate hexahydrate.

The critical temperature dependence of the nuclear quadrupole- resonance $\text{}^{79}$Br frequencies at the phase transition (T$\text{}_{c}$ = 163 K) was found in (CH$\text{}_{3}$)$\text{}_{4}$NCdBr$\text{}_{3}$. It was concluded that bromine nuclei take part in the phase transition not directly but via the interaction with the crystal polarization.

Investigations of temperature dependence of a nuclear quadrupole spin-lattice relaxation time of $\text{}^{79}$Br nuclei in ferroelectric (CH$\text{}_{3}$)$\text{}_{4}$NCdBr$\text{}_{3}$ are presented. It is shown that in paraelectric phase in the vicinity of phase transition temperature relaxation process is determined by critical fluctuations of electric field gradient. In ferroelectric phase relaxation is related to three different mechanisms, namely: lattice vibrations, CH$\text{}_{3¯}$ group reorientations and TMA cation motions. According to the results of measurements it is concluded that the phase transition is connected with ordering of TMA cations.

The magnetic phase diagrams of Cr alloys with group-8 metals, such as Re and Ru, show interesting properties. These include quantum critical and superconducting behavior. In order to extend these investigations this paper reports on the physical properties and the magnetic phase diagram of the $Cr_{100-z}Os_{z}$ system, investigated in a concentration range of 2 ≤ z ≤ 30.6. Structural analysis indicate that samples with z<22 have a bcc structure, while those with z>22 include a cubic A15-type structure. Transport and magnetic property measurements indicate that the antiferromagnetic phase disappears at z ≈ 14 and that samples with concentrations z ≥ 12.2 show superconducting behavior. The magnetic phase diagram of $Cr_{100-z}Os_{z}$ is constructed from the Néel and superconducting transition temperatures obtained from various measurements. The commensurate spin-density-wave to paramagnetic phase line decreases sharply for z>4. Fitting parameters of a power law fit to the commensurate spin-density-wave to paramagnetic phase line indicate possible quantum critical behavior. Present results suggest that this phase line terminates in a superconducting dome near a magnetic quantum critical point, similar to that observed in certain heavy fermion systems, but not previously reported for other Cr alloys.
