The article presents the results of experimental research and simulation analyses of the influence of slip velocity, normal pressures and vibration frequency on the effectiveness of friction force reduction carried out in sliding motion in the presence of forced tangential vibrations. In experimental studies, changes in the driving force were measured during the slip of the upper body over the vibrating lower body. The direction of these vibrations was parallel both to the contact plane and to the direction of movement of the shifted body. The simulation tests were carried out in the Matlab/Simulink environment through the use of numerical procedures that were specially created for this purpose. Dynamic friction models considering the tangential compliance of contact and the phenomenon of pre-sliding displacement were used for calculations. The paper presents the designated values of the so-called coefficient of average friction force reduction in sliding motion for the following friction pairs: steel C45–steel C45, steel C45–cast iron GGG40 and steel C45–polytetrafluoroethy-lene PTFE (Teflon). The results of numerical analyses were in good agreement with those of experimental tests. A significant dependence of the level of average friction force reduction on the frequency of forced vibrations, sliding velocity as well as the kind of sliding pair material, and normal pressures was shown.

W pracy zostanie przedstawiona analiza procesu pękania stali ferrytycznej 13HMF, oparta na szeregu badań doświadczalnych, które wzbogacona szeregiem obliczeń numerycznych. Analiza dotyczyć będzie elementów konstrukcyjnych badanych w warunkach niskich temperatur. Zaprezentowane zostaną zmiany własności mechanicznych, odporności na pękanie, zdjęcia pękniętych przełomów, jak również szereg wyników numerycznych, w postaci rozwijających się stref plastycznych oraz rozkładów naprężeń rozwierających powierzchnie pęknięcia.
In the paper, an analysis of the fracture process for the ferritic steel 13HMF will be presented, which will be based on a series of the experimental studies. To verification of the all experiments, relevant numerical calculations will be done. Both – experimental and numerical analysis will concern the components tested at low temperatures. The changes of the mechanical proper- ties, fracture toughness and numerical results, such as plastic zones or opening stress distributions will be presented.

Opis:
Designing products operating in harsh conditions is a challenging task. Years of experience, developed standards and good practices are crucial in achieving the intended result. The article shows a methodology for designing electronic systems based on the worst-case analysis (WCA) and comparing its outcomes with the experimental verification of an actual circuit through large-scale tests. The analysed diode-based semiconductor circuit is part of a temperature measuring system of industrial application. The objective of the design and analysis process is to achieve a reliable solution, which has all the required functionalities under actual, extreme operating conditions. The preliminary circuit design is developed using ideal components. The truth table, which represents customer requirements, is created to check the correct operation of the system. Simulation software, such as LTSpice, are used as the main tools to verify the correct functioning based on ideal or close-to-real component models. Next, based on the results of computer simulations, the WCA is conducted, considering all extreme (worst) operating environment parameters, such as, among others, ambient temperature or ageing. WCA results were verified through an experimental, large-scale measurement of the real system, with defined forward voltage as a function of the current flowing through the semiconductor at various ambient temperatures.

Produkowane obecnie urządzenia do oceny wytrzymałości książek różnią się konstrukcją oraz parametrami testowania opraw, co skutkuję różnymi wynikami badań wytrzymałości tych samych opraw zbadanych na różnych aparatach testujących. Jednym z najważniejszych parametrów wpływającym na wynik pomiaru jest kąt otwarcia książki. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań eksperymentalnych wpływu kąta otwarcia oprawy na wynik wytrzymałości sklejonej książki. Uzyskane wyniki badań eksperymentalnych umożliwiają uwzględnienie wpływu kąta otwarcia oprawy na wynik oceny wytrzymałości przy badaniach opraw na różnych maszynach testujących.
Currently produced devices to evaluate the durability of books differ in design and testing parameters, which result in different value of the strength of the same books tested at different test apparatus. One of the most important parameters affecting the measurement result is the opening angle of the book. The research study investigated the influence of the angle of opening book on the Pull Test value of durability of the book spine adhesive layer. The results of experimental studies allow to learn the influence of the angle of opening book for the strength value of the books tested on different testing machines.

The increasing application of composite materials in the construction of machines causes strong need for modelling and evaluat-ing their strength. There are many well known hypotheses used for homogeneous materials subjected to monotone and cyclic loading conditions, which have been verified experimentally by various authors. These hypotheses should be verified also for composite materials. This paper provides experimental and theoretical results of such verifications for bimaterial structures with interfacial cracks. Three well known fracture hypotheses of: Griffith, McClintock and Novozhilov were chosen. The theoretical critical load values arising from each hy-potheses were compared with the experimental data including uni and multi-axial loading conditions. All tests were carried out with using specially prepared specimens of steel and PMMA.

W pracy przedstawiono badania doświadczalne, analizę mikroskopową oraz analizę składu chemicznego dwóch par ciernych złożonych z polimerów wzmacnianych włóknami węglowymi oraz stali łożyskowej po tarciu w trzech środowiskach: powietrzu, wodzie oraz oleju. Badania doświadczalne wykonano za pomocą tribotestera T-11, gdzie realizowany jest schemat pary ciernej typu trzpień-tarcza. W pracy podjęto próbę identyfikacji rodzajów zużycia polimerów wzmacnianych włóknem węglowym pracujących w różnych środowiskach. Przedstawiono także, krótką analizę procesów tarcia i zużycia kompozytów w nawiązaniu do binarnego charakteru pracy analizowanych par ciernych.
In the paper results of: experimental researches, microscopic analysis and chemical constitution of two tribological couples consist of: plastic strengthen with carbon fibers and bearing steel, working in three environments: air, water and oil, were presented. The researches were executed using T-11 tribotester machine, where pin-on-disc frictional couple scheme was realized. In the paper, identification of wear type of polymers strengthen with carbon fibers working in different environments, was undertaken. The short analysis of friction and wear phenomenon of composites was presented taking into consideration the binary scheme work of analyzed friction couples.

The paper presents the results of numerical analyses that were carried out in order to evaluate how a change in a size of a clearance in a slewing motion drive system of a telescopic crane influences the movement of a load and the dynamic loads of a structure. A computational model was developed based on a real structure of an experimental crane by using the ADAMS software. The analyses showed that a circumferential clearance at the output of a reduction gear, which is less than 1º, does not adversely affect the precision of the load movement. An excessive clearance leads to losing fluidity of a body slewing motion and to changes in the trajectory of the load.

This paper presents a comparative analysis of two kinematic structures of the support system (with supports with bilateral and unilateral constraints), which were used in an experimental model of a crane. The computational model was developed by using the ADAMS software. The impact of the kinematic structure of the support system on selected kinematic and dynamic values that were recorded during the slewing motion was analysed. It was found, among other things, that an increased number of degrees of freedom of the support system leads to multiple distortions of time characteristics of kinematic and dynamic quantities.

This paper deals with the experimental and numerical analysis of three-point bending phenomenon on beam composite profiles. Flat rectangular test specimens made of carbon–epoxy composite, characterised by symmetric [0/90/0/90]s laminate ply lay-up, were used in this study. Experimental testing was carried out with a COMETECH universal testing machine, using special three-point bending heads. In addition, macroscopic evaluation was performed experimentally using a KEYENCE Digital Microscope with a mobile head recording real-time images. Parallel to the experimental studies, numerical simulations were performed using the finite element method in ABAQUS software. The application of the above-mentioned interdisciplinary research techniques allowed for a thorough analysis of the phenomenon of failure of the composite material subjected to bending. The obtained research results provided a better understanding of the failure mechanism of the composite material.

Statistically, at least 50% of all injuries experienced by police officers in the line of duty are due to assaults with blunt objects. Therefore, vests used by the police should provide not only good ballistic resistance, but also good protection against such threats. Foamed materials are possible to be used for body protectors or inserts of protective clothes. The effects of dynamic impact with beaters of different shapes onto behaviour of polymeric foamed material were determined. There were used four types of beaters: flat, cylindrical, edgy and cornered. Strikes with blunt objects such as a flat board, baseball bat, edgy brick, pavement brick or a sharp stone, to which a protective ware can be subjected, were simulated. The impact load was applied to the rectangular specimens, made of polyvinyl chloride foam, with a usage of a drop hammer. Plots of force versus compression for all the tested samples were obtained and analysed. The effects of impacts with beaters of different shapes onto foamed material samples were presented. A shape of the blunt object significantly influences crushing behaviour of the foamed material. The impact energy of a flat beater is absorbed effectively on a short distance, since it is spread on a relatively large surface. The cylindrical and edgy beaters did not cause fragmentation of the samples, however, on the upper surfaces of the samples, permanent deformations mapping the beaters shapes as well as some cracks occurred. An impact with a sharp object, for example, a cornered beater is very difficult to be neutralized by the foam material, because it is cumulated on a small area.

In this contribution an influence of random contrast patterns creation on the quality of the obtained results of experimental modal analysis performed by high-speed digital image correlation is described. Three common forms of random pattern creation were investigat-ed. While the first form was presented by the black speckles printed on white matt vinyl foil and bonded on the sample surface, in the sec-ond and the third case, respectively, the black speckles were sprayed on white sprayed sample surface or on paint white one. For the pur-poses of modal parameters estimation in the form of natural frequencies, mode shapes and damping ratios the program called Modan3D, developed in the authors department, was used. The results obtained by Modan3D were compared with the results achieved by system Pulse specialized for vibration analysis.

This paper presents a study of compressed thin-walled composite columns with an open cross-section. The tested specimens with a top-hat cross-section were made of CFRP material. Two arrangements of composite layers [0/-45/45/90]s and [90/0/90/0]s were compared. The paper focuses on the buckling phenomenon and the determination of the critical loads of the structure. It includes both numerical analyses using the finite element method (FEM) and validation on real specimens made using the autoclave technique. A comparison is made between the results obtained by both methods. The critical forces of the real specimens were determined using the P-wc3 approximation method. Both the evaluation of the buckling shape and the values of the critical forces showed a significant correlation between the experimental and numerical tests. This paper also compares the tested lay-ups.

The main objective of the study is to develop experimentally validated FE model and perform numerical analysis of layered composites made by hand lay-up techniques during tension and bending test. The research object is glass - polyester laminate made of four unidirectional layers. In order to validate the numerical models experimental test were performed. Due to the very different stiffness modulus in tension and bending loading the material properties obtained from standard test are not suitable to apply in numerical model. Significantly different behaviour compared to experimental test was obtained for tree point bending where the numerical model becomes too stiff. Simple coupons, relatively easy to manufacture presented in the paper have very low quality. The differences in actual and theoretical bending stiffness (obtained from tension stiffness) exceed 70%. In order to represent the actual structure the layers of the composite were divided by resin layers and also additional resin layer at the top and bottom of the model were defined. Single stage optimization process was used to adjust the material layout. After layer set-up modification very significant improvement can be seen for flexural behaviour.
