Opis:
Transmission pipelines for gas have large a diameter and high pressure. Gas pump stations are built along the pipeline and their main task is to increase gas pressure to the technologically and economically justified level. Determining the exact value of pressure drop in the pipeline is the major problem in gas pipeline transport. The drop of pressure is a result of external and internal frict ion. The pressure can be lowered in the gas pipeline but this depends on the geometric parameters of the latter, i.e. le ngth, inner diameter, full-length profile, quantity and temperature of transmitted gas and its thermodynamic properties. The technical condition of the transmission pipe- line and the character of gas flow in the pipeline have a great infl uence on the pressure variations. A number of mathematical models focus on determining the drop of pressure in a pipeline section. The value of deviations of calculated values from the real data in each mode l strictly depends on the conditions in the pipeline. The aim of this paper is an analysis of applicability ranges of various equations for pressure losses in transmission pipelines.

Opis:
Natural gas is one of the major fuels covering home demand for energy. Natural gas consumption has been observed to systematically increase over the last five years. Intensive works are conducted on the development of the national gas network leading to the diversifi cation of directions and sources of blue gas. Natural gas consists of various components. Its composition depends on the source of origin and has a decisive influence on thermodynamic and hydraulic properties. The content of heavy hydrocarbon gases increases the calorific value of the gaseous fuel, whereas the high content of inorganic components lowers the amount of energy obtained in the course of natural gas combustion, and environmentally hazardous chemical compounds are formed. As far as gas transport is concerned, too high content of heavy hydrocarbon gases (propane, butane, pentane) is disadvantageous. In high pressure conditions the C3-C5 class gases change to a liquid phase. This results in the change of the calorific value, lower hydraulic efficiency of the pipeline diameter and potentially faster corrosion processes on the inner surface of the pipeline. This paper is aimed at presenting results of changes of natural gas composition in a function of distance at which the fuel is transported. The respective analyses will be conducted with the use of analytical methods and commercial pipeline simulators.

Opis:
The increasing production of electricity from renewable energy sources has been accompanied by growing interest in technologies allowing the storage of energy. One of the means allowing its storage is the Power-to-Gas technology thanks to which the excess power may be converted into another energy carrier such as hydrogen. One possibility is to blend the resulting hydrogen with natural gas and inject it into the natural gas grid. The paper discusses both the effect that hydrogen blend has on the performance of gas pipelines, and the main thermodynamic events occurring while the mixture of hydrogen and natural gas is transported.

Opis:
Decision-making problem with assessing of the suitability of geological structures located in aquifers in terms of their use for carbon storage, natural gas storage or waste injection is mainly connected with the necessity of taking into consideration a large number of criteria and analyze a lot of parameters. It also connected with making many independent decisions concerning geological, environmental, social, political, technical or legal issues. This article shows the possibility of using the AHP method, ie. multi-criteria hierarchical methods to analysis of decision problems in assessment the potential of aquifers. AHP method allows to take reasonable decision. The article was divided into three parts. The first one includes a characteristics of geological structures located in aquifers, special attention was paid to the criteria describing these structures. In the second part, the basis for decision-making system based on the method of AHP, which was used to carry out the hierarchical scoping assessment of potential structures. Validation of decision-making system was realized on selected geological structures located on the Polish Lowlands. An assessment of the possibilities to use the two anticline in the Mesozoic aquifers was made. As a result, received the criteria ranking, rankings of decision variants to all criteria and global ranking of variants. Based on the results obtained can be determine which decision represents a priority way of use structure.
