Opis:
The role and place of the Church in the Christ’s redemptive work and ecclesial mediation on grace are an everlasting moot point for Lutherans and Catholics. Neither of the parties negates this reality of the Church, the difference, however, regards the meaning of those expressions. At the end of the second stage of the Catholic-Lutheran dialogue and during the third one a statement on the existence of fundamental discrepancy (Grunddifferenz, Fundamentaldissens) appeared, which is at the core of the division between both denominations. The existence of that discrepancy has been evident first of all in the issue of the role of the Church in the event of redemption, in the understanding of sacramentality and instrumental role of the Church and human co-operation in the redemption event. Signed ecumenical documents, in particular Joint declaration on the doctrine of justification, must involve dogmatic implications also in the area of ecclesiology, so as to avoid complaints that the dialogue between the Churches and signed document on the justification have actually changed nothing. Hence, drawing theological-dogmatic conclusions from the already signed documents, it is worth rethinking and expressing criticism of those proposal in order to fully replace a concept of “sacrament” regarding to redeemed instrumentalization of the Church and use the terms “sign” and “tool” instead or to develop a different theological language which will be devoid of ambiguity. Such an attitude to the above mentioned issue would allow us to emphasize the consent of both parties in such an important discipline as ecclesiology. Both parties of the dialogue agree that the relationship of Christ and the Church cannot be presented in the way which would cover inequality of this relationship. Both the Catholics and the Lutherans agree that in the New Testament the relationship between Christ and the Church is based at the same time on unity and distinctness, excluding, thus, any identity. The Church, in the light of the doctrine on justification, is first of all the redeemed and gifted Church, which exclusively due to Christ through the Word and Sacrament is the place of effective salvation. There is also a consent that neither people nor the Church can be perpetrators of salvation, nor can they administer it. The salvation is always a gift.

Opis:
Despite some disputable problems we must see the role and great significance of The Decree on Ecumenism. It still must be treated as the beginning of the way towards Christian unity; its assessment must refer not only to what it contributed to, but also to what it may contribute to - the unity of the Church. The ecumenical approach presented in The Decree on Ecumenism is correct and it may become a model to follow; it often corresponds with the image of the relationships between churches. From the perspective of the Orthodox Church it is important that ecumenical issues and the desire for unity are based on the strong foundation of ecclesiology. Even though the Decree often speaks about the “unity of Christians”, the objective of the ecumenical movement is the unity of the Church, which is reached by the rapprochement of Christians. Not the unity of Christians, but the unity of the Church, even if understanding of the nature of this unity is not discusses or, in other words, it is left open. In this silence the ecumenical approach can be seen.

Opis:
Seventy-year history of the Polish Ecumenical Council and its dialogical character is particularly significant for the history of the Ecumenical Church Council and the history of a dialogical attitude of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland. The Roman Catholic Church has been involved in the ecumenical dialogue since the constitution Lumen gentium (1964) which was issued during the II Vatican Council, the decree on ecumenism Unitatis redintegratio (1964) and the encyclical Ut unum sint (1995), which was written by the pope John Paul II, who tried to treat an ecumenical dialogue as an important ecumenical factor; it was understood both widely (as an ecumenical dimension of all ecumenical activities) and narrowly (as a doctrinal dialogue), which makes us pay particular attention to local dialogical structures that aim to get rid of still existing discrepancies, both in doctrines and practical forms of cooperation. It is evidenced by the history of mutual relationships between local churches in Poland, which conduct bilateral and multilateral dialogues. “Ecumenical Encyclopedia of Poland (1964–2014)” was issued in 2016 and it stresses the importance of inter-denominational doctrinal dialogues in Poland as an unusual achievement which plays “a key role in the striving for visible unity” of Christians from various traditions, which in the last 70 years have been gathered in the ecumenical structure of the Polish Ecumenical Council in its dialogical relations with the Roman Catholic church and vice versa of the Roman Catholic Church with the Polish Ecumenical Council. The following commissions played a particular role in this process: Mixed Commission consisting of the PEC members and the members from the Ecumenism Commission of the Polish Episcopate and Dialogue Sub-commission. This was the aim of the author of this article, who on the basis of multilateral dialogue related to the sacrament of baptism, attempted to confirm the thesis “the impossible becomes possible”, which is proclaimed by the ecumenists. Consequently, brotherly and sisterly relations can deepen in order to “achieve unity in truth”. For this reason the first part of this article presents the origins and development of the Polish Ecumenical Council; the second part contains ecumenical and dialogic initiatives of the Council and Roman Catholic church, while the third one demonstrates the results of local dialogues in Poland, which were conducted by the above mentioned church subjects; it is based on the incredible example regarding “the sacrament of baptism as a sign of unity” by which the “Declaration of Polish churches on the threshold of the third millennium” confirms bilateral dialogues, which aimed to finalize mutual recognition of the importance of baptism in the above mentioned ecclesial structures.

Opis:
The issue of apostolic succession is one of the subjects of ecumenical dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and the Polish-Catholic Church in the Republic of Poland. Thanks to studies conducted in this area, it is possible to ascertain the preservation in the Polish-Catholic Church of the historical succession, originating through the Churches of the Union of Utrecht from the Roman Catholic Church. A difference, howewer, is the approach of the two communities to the succession of the episcopal ministry outside the community of the Church. The Old Catholic Churches, and hence the polish-catholics, do not recognise the validity of episcopal ordinations conferred outside the ecclesial community and without a specific mandate to confer them, even if the proper rite of conferral has been observed. The Roman Catholic Church, while regarding the conferral and reception of episcopal orders without papal nomination as giving rise to excommunication, nevertheless recognises their sacramental effect if the substance, form and proper intention of the conferral have been preserved.

Opis:
John Paul II mentioned that Martin Luther’s proclamation gave rise to the reformation and became the cause of breakages and divisions in the Church, but (despite everything) “the belief in the Crucified and Resurrected Christ remains as a common denominator of Christians of the reformation times. They differed in relation to the Church and Rome but they did not reject the truth about the Resurrection”. This truth particularly characterized the actions of people on the Polish political scene in the Jagiellonian period. This truth even now unites Christians and Christians who act together stand a chance to demonstrate to the contemporary world that evil can and should be overcome by good but they must, like Elijah, conquer disappointment and despair and to hear God’s command: “Get up, eat as there is a long way ahead of you”. Catholics and Protestants have already overcome many obstacles on their way to reconciliation but perhaps the tradition of Polish Christianity, its Jagiellonian dimension will point out new areas of dialogue.

Opis:
The article consists of the following parts: new Catholic ecumenism, the Council reform, the contribution of John XXIII, the contribution of Paul VI, theological foundation of the Council ecumenism, conclusions. The author focuses on the great personal contribution of the popes John XXIII and Paul VI in the renewal of the Church (including ecumenical dialogue) which took place fifty years ago during the Second Vatican Council. John XXIII connected strongly the idea of the Church reform aggiornamento with the unity of Christians. The Catholic doctrine in the area of ecumenical issues was most fully expressed in the Dogmatic Constitution on Church (Lumen gentium) and Decree on Ecumenism (Unitatis redintegratio). Its onset is the conviction about the unity of the Christ Church. The Council stressed that the foundation of the unity of Christians is the dogma of the Trinity (Unitatis redintegratio 12). Removing obstacles by leading a dialogue which allows us to understand existing doctrinal differences, eliminating prejudice in word and deed restore the unity (UR 4). The Decree on Ecumenism is a solemn involvement of the Catholic Church in the cause of Christian unity and the response of the Church to God’s call which is addressed to all contemporary Christians, encouraging them to earnestly desire, search and attain unity in Christ. The unity of Christians is a grace and gift which can be only expected from God and which should be asked for in prayer. In this spirit following Paul VI’s words, the Church in the Decree on Ecumenism asks God and separated brethren for forgiveness for the faults committed against unity and is also ready to forgive inflicted harm. Apart from prayer theological work is necessary for the unity and the Council repeatedly returns to it.

The Global Christian Forum was established in 1998 as a platform for open dialogue between major Christian confessions to discuss pressing challenges facing Christians today. The Polish Christian Forum finds its identity as drawn from the idea of the Global Christian Forum (HYPERLINK „http://www.globalchristianforum.org” www.globalchristianforum.org). The forum defines itself not as any new organization, association or union of the churches, but as a meeting place, as a space to learn about each other, space of cooperation and common testimony, without formal membership of the entities interested in Forum’s initiatives. The article about the idea of the Polish Christian Forum presents the following issues: changes in the world religious landscape; the beginnings of the Global Christian Forum; a new space for new challenges; basic objectives of the Christian Forum; formation of the Polish Christian Forum; conclusion.

Opis:
The article presents spiritual foundation of Global Christian Forum and it consists of the following parts: 1. Introduction; 2. Spiritual impulses; 3. Sharing faith on the way; 4. Discovering the way towards contemporary ecumenism; 3. The end. The author was a participant of Global Christian Forum in the capital of Albania Tirana (2015). Now he is carefully looking at the program of the next world consultation of Christian Forum which is to take place in Bogota (Colombia) in 2018. The subject of this meeting is a biblical thought “Let mutual love remain”. Christian unity which is experienced by participants of Christian Forum touches not just mind and will but also emotions. The desire for ecumenical unity has its affective side. Ecumenism is an act of Christian love for which Christ is praying in the Gospel (J 17:21). Ecumenical work does not consist only of doctrinal and theological discussions about hermeneutic differences among Christians. Ecumenism is also a stirring of heart under the influence of the Holy Spirit. In its deeper sense ecumenism is a spiritual “gift exchange” as it was defined by John Paul II in the encyclical letter “Ut unum sint”, 28.
Artykuł opisuje duchowe podwaliny Globalnego Forum Chrześcijańskiego i składa się z następujących części: 1. Wstęp; 2. Impulsy duchowe; 3.
