Opis:
The article discusses understanding the nature of the Holy Spirit in the early thought in the patristic period of Nicea and Constantinople councils. The development of pneumatology and Christology doctrines was a significant part of the thought of early Christian doctrine fathers. Its codification, which was extended onto the whole Church, was usually caused by heresy, which wanted to interpret the faith teaching in their own way and to capture it as its own, nominating themselves as the highest authority. Church fathers spoke against those dissident temptations and clearly referring to the Biblical authority formed the pneumatological doctrine as it is known today. In the beginning it was not unambiguous, but the reception of Biblical contents about the Holy Spirit which teaches the whole truth in the Church allowed us with His help to understand the fullness of its nature.

Opis:
Jesus Christ, going to the Father, sent his disciples the Holy Spirit, who was to remind them and explain everything. The same Holy Spirit continues to act in the Church, sanctifying the Mystical Body of Christ. The first Paraclete is Jesus Christ himself, who undertook a salvific mission and became a mediator between God and people. The Holy Spirit sent by Christ is the second Paraclete fulfilling the mediating mission. The Holy Spirit works both in the Immanent Trinity (God’s inner life) and in the Economic Trinity (God’s saving action in history). Interesting in this context are the theological models developed by, among others, Heribert Mühlen, Joseph Ratzinger, Walter Kasper, Hans Urs von Balthasar, Matthias Joseph Scheeben, Maximilian Maria Kolbe and René Laurentin, whose concepts have been briefly presented in the above article. The mediating mission of the Holy Spirit is oriented Christocentric and is revealed during the most important salvation events performed by Jesus Christ (incarnation, baptism in the Jordan, proclamation of the Kingdom of God, death and resurrection). Moreover, the Holy Spirit sanctifies the Church, connecting people with God and people with each other. This action is inscribed in the ontic mediation of Jesus Christ, who has two natures – Divine and human, and in the functional mediation of the Savior (royal, prophetic and priestly functions). Undoubtedly, the last decades have been characterized by a great revival among theologians who deal with pneumatology, especially in the dimension of the mediating mission of the Holy Spirit.
(funkcję królewską, prorocką i kapłańską). Niewątpliwie ostatnie dziesięciolecia charakteryzują się dużym ożywieniem wśród teologów, którzy zajmują się tematyką pneumatologiczną, zwłaszcza w wymiarze misji pośredniczącej Ducha Świętego.

The text of the article focuses on Christian interpretation of Henryk Bardijewski’s stories from the series “Wild angels…”. The text is an attempt to incorporate our own experience into the interpretation of the text, with particular emphasis on religious experience and faith. A combination of interpretative practice with religious experience points out to individual perception of the text and recognition of meaning. The analysis of the author’s stories in the metaphysical and mystical light enables us to discover a completely new meaning and spiritual values. Literature is a place where faith becomes a cognitive tool, which is an opportunity for theological perception of reality. Combining interpretation with religious experience, one can apply Christian anthropology method, refer to hermeneutics and use semiotic tools.

The subject of reflection in this publication are the concepts of eternity and immortality of the human soul shown in a philosophical-historical and theological outline, with particular reference to the teachings of Joseph Ratzinger. His views are shown against the background of ancient, biblical, New Testament, early Christian concepts, medieval Christian thought, as well as modern and contemporary thought, which were the platform for Ratzinger’s inspiring explorations and conclusions; they led him to combine his fidelity to tradition and the truths derived from it with his original and profound view of the reality of eternal life.

Opis:
The path of enlightenment consists imitating of Jesus by practicing the virtues, especially the supernatural ones. The condition for this development of virtues is a some purity of heart. Man has to put his passions in order and fight with his major weaknesses. Then comes self-control, order in everyday life, deep conviction of the truths of faith, and more time to talk with the Lord during prayer. To achieve this state, a Christian must to pass a process of passive purification, which leads him into the mystical life. All imperfections must be removed. Therefore, God’s intervention is needed, which is expressed through special inspirations. Then the gifts of the Holy Spirit enable us to receive them. The Christian experiences passive purifications of senses and of spirit. This state can be compared to the purification of the senses. The purification of the soul is compared to the purification of gold in a crucible. In this state, prayer develops from meditation to emotional prayer. The Christian must therefore remove the obstacles in the development of prayer.

In their pastoral service the hierarchs of the Greek Catholic Church found it very important to explain the meaning of holy sacraments. They stressed their role in Christian life. However, there was a significant difference between the teachings of bishop Khomyshyn and archbishop Sheptytsky. Khomyshyn focused on theological aspects, while Sheptytsky mixed theology with politics.

Opis:
A national spirit derives directly from a sense of national identity, a sense of having a common language, culture, traditions and history. A national spirit also encompasses religious values as in this case the Roman Catholic Church. This religion is the very foundation of the national identity as it identifies the beginning of the Polish nation in 966 AD and has remained the common thread throughout the last 1050 years of our history. Over this millennium the nation has been exposed to numerous challenges but three national characteristics seem to dominate throughout – democratic governance, national hospitality to strangers and a respect for the deceased. National identity, as opposed to the national spirit, is rooted more in current cultural interpretations and is subject to manipulation by such factors as cultural trends, current governments or external pressures from abroad. Three distinct periods can be recognized in the development of the national spirit in the last 100 years. In 1914–1944 there was the rush to statehood, a brief independence and defeat at the hands of our two neighbors. In 1944–1989, the Polish People’s Republic era, Soviet dominated government unrepresentative of its people and actively fighting against the national spirit, for example the Catholic religion. 1989–2017 mark a new era with governments preoccupied with a rush to globalization and integration into supranational structures such as the global markets and the European Union, actively suppressing many national characteristics in order to be more global in its image and acceptance. The role of the Catholic Church and institutions in the USA was fundamental in maintaining that national spirit, especially in the first two periods. Great Poles such as Jan Ignacy Paderewski were instrumental in returning Poland onto the world map but also the Catholic Church helped in spreading the message resulting in huge rush to the ranks of Polish volunteers, which then were able to defend the new nation against Bolshevik aggression in 1919/1920. During the second period the Catholic Church was instrumental in stressing the milestone of 1966, when Poland was celebrating a millennium of her nationhood. The communist authorities were celebrating statehood trying desperately to separate this momentous occasion from any role of the Catholic Church in its creation. It was the message of Poland and US based Polish clergy such as Cardinal Wyszynski and bishop J. Krol that stressed that it was the Roman Catholic religion that created the nation and later the state and its absolutely fundamental role. That message was then taken up by the first Polish Pope, John Paul II, who visited the USA seven times. In conclusion the role of the Catholic Church now is to preserve the national spirit when it is challenged with new ideas such as globalization and multiculturalism. Religion is progressively seen and propagated by the new social media platforms as a brake on progress of humanity and needs to be discouraged whenever possible. Poles as a nation still retain our identity and God, Honor and Fatherland are our signpost for the future.

Opis:
The idea of a “cultural error”, which is included in the title, refers to the category of an “anthropological error”, which was formulated by John Paul II in his encyclical Centesimus annus. According to the Polish pope this error was the foundation of a faulty assessment of society and human role which was suggested by the Marxist philosophical and social system. The idea of a “cultural error”, which has been put forward in this article, is an attempt to formulate a holistic view of the cultural transformation process which started in the 18th century in the Enlightenment era and which has lasted up till now. This error consists in the negation of the possibility of the natural origin of the axiological sphere and in promoting the opposite worldview that all values (ethical, esthetic, epistemological), which put order into human thinking and acting, are the merely the result of the culture. This article is the attempt to present the panorama of those transformations, which result from this erroneous assessment of man (negating the vision of a human person as a being who is open to the transcendence) and his role in culture creation process.
