So far the anti-church activity of father Leonard Świderski has not been revealed exhaustive enough. The only information on this figure you can find in the monograph on ksiądz Czesław Kaczmarek. biskup kielecki 1895–1963 by J. Śledzianowski. The current knowledge about father Świderski seems to be scarce. The main purpose of this article is to disclose his participation in insulting to polish Church and its hierarchy. In order to make it, author has used documentation which enrich our knowledge about father Leonard Świderski, especially his cooperation with UB. The cooperation began on 16th May 1949 and the collaborator was called “Iwa”. In this article Leonard Świderski’s publication which came out in “Przekrój” in 1962 were used. Its content was a slight from Świderski directed against polish Church, hierarchy and especially bishop Czesław Kaczmarek. We can come to the conclusion that father Świderski was just a tool in communists’ hands. His activity became a part of anti-church policy in Poland.

This article portrays the Clergy of Deanery of Uniejów in 1779, which covered 14 parishes at that time and was a part of “archidiakonat uniejowski”. There were at least 20 priests working there during that time, 11 of whom had benefice parish, while the rest were their co-workers. Personal details of that Clergy passed on by inspectors includes place of birth, social status, date and place of ordination and the date of benefice. This information was analyzed in this article. The majority of the clerics of Deanery of Uniejów came from the area of Archdiocese of Gniezno. Half of them were of a noble background and received their ordinations mainly in Łowicz, as well as in Gniezno and Warsaw. The Bishops that carried out the ordinations were, first and foremost, the auxiliary Bishops of Archdiocese of Gniezno. The new clerics received their ordinations at the age of: under 25yrs (4), 25–30yrs (7). Priests in the area of this Deanery usually received their parson after a few or sometimes a dozen or so years of priesthood, having moved from other areas. It is not possible, according to the information passed on, barring a few exceptions, to establish where they have been working before. A similar situation was the case with the curates, who were given their positions shortly after their ordinations.

In the article under discussion, which consists of three parts, the author, as a priest, monk and many year’s missionary, wishes to present us the timeless missionary character of the Catholic Church. In the 1st part he outlines the teaching of the 2nd Vatican Council and of John XXIII, Paul VI and John Paul II, concerning one of the most fundamental truths of religious life – that Christ is the Way and the Life of the Church. The 2nd part provides an account of the multiplicity and diversity of missionary paths of the Church while the 3rd one deals with missionary teaching of Christ that can be found in the New Testament.

The following article attempts to justify the rationality of religious explications in the context of a paradigm of empirical studies which is widely used nowadays. The Author refers to the opinion of John Paul II on specific mentality of contemporary generations open to empiria and rational arguments. This reference reinforces the assumptions made. To illustrate the problem and bring it into the context of everyday practice, the Author presents an example of a morally good atheist, who is convinced that he owes his own virtue to himself only, excluding – a priori – God’s work. The Author comes to a solution by a comparison of two interpretations: an atheist one – in its concept, closed to non-empiric world and religious one – open to both empiric and non-empiric (supernatural) dimension.

Charitable and beneficial activities meant a lot in the history of Lodz, especially during the First World War and then in the following years of a severe economic crisis. A prominent figure in those times was bishop Tymieniecki, who was in charge of the new Lodz diocese. During the war he worked in the Custodial Council in Lodz . In 1915, on his initiative, there was organized Cheap Hygienic Canteen for Intelligentsia. He also organised two shelters for the homeless and for children. It originated the Association of Saint Stanislaus Kostka’s Shelters. After the war he did his best to protect and help poor children. He supported „A Drop of Milk Association” and organized summer camps for poor children of Lodz. Bishop Tymieniecki also brought a women convent to his diocese and the nuns immediately got involved in working for charity. On February 1931 he set up a committee whose aim was to help the poorest and consequently on his initiative parish committees sprang up. Bishop Tymieniecki developed the activities of Caritas and cooperated with governmental and local institutions to protect and help the poorest. He draw attention of prominent people and institutions in Lodz to the needs of the poor. The genuine priest of working class in Lodz, he regarded charitable activity as one of the main tasks of pastoral work. Without it, there is no real religious life and the life of the Church dies out, he meinteined.

The article describes the relationship between the first monks and the Church hierarchy represented by the bishops and popes. Bishops often mingled in the internal affairs of monastic communities, but some organizers of monastic life, such as Caesarius of Arles limited the interference from the outside. Abbots in Ireland while they become more important than bishops. Basil the Great, Augustine of Hippo, Caesarius of Arles, though they were monks, they exercised their functions well in positions of church and maintained friendly relations with the popes. A unique situation is the abbot of St. Columba the Younger, who in Gaul is involved in disputes with the local hierarchy. He did not agree even with the pope, but never openly spoke out against the Apostolic See. Monks usually do not lead to riots but had for respectful representatives of ecclesiastical authority.

In this article, the author focuses on the subject of poetry used in the Word of God. The forms of poetry presented during ancient times, the middle ages and a short correlation to biblical poetry, which is the basis to Christian poetry, are introduced with clear originality. The reader who is familiar with the forms of poetry used in homiletics as well as in lyrical preaching fragments, beginning from Clement of Alexandria and finishing with today’s Polish poet-preachers, will discover that poetry is a perfect tool to transmit homiletic and dogmatic contents. It represents itself as a privileged instrument to express the Word of God. The subject of poetry at the service of the Word of God has as its goal on one side to call attention to today’s preachers to the richness of Church poetry, and on the other side, to make one more sensitive to the beauty of the Word.

F. Blachnicki was the forerunner in absorbing the F. X. Arnold’s ecclesiologic conception of pastoral theology. According to that theologian from Tübingen a nature of Church salvific mediation is both objective and external. It is to be distinguished from a salvific process, that is subjective and internal. The analysis of personal nature of meeting between God and a man is a reason for a necessity of Church salvific mediation. That is why the liturgy of the Church is a place of meeting between sovereign God and the free man.

It seems that in the face of the current situation of Polish Church, in the context of social and political transformations and all the years following the ending aggiornamento of the II Vatican Council, and while observing the decline of “dominicantes”, it is high time we dealt with the spiritual formation of those who greatly contribute to the creation of liturgy at our churches. Such a formation is a necessity of the present time! It is our pastoral duty, which we have to carry out by the force of holy orders as priests or bishops. It also seems it is the natural consequence of the Church life, the most important work of which has been deepening the faith of Christ’s followers and leading them to salvation, as The Catechism of The Catholic Church teaches us (cf. Mt 28, 19–20; The Catechism… – Preface). There are many people who cooperate with us at parishes. It is thus important not to treat all of these organized groups, their members and organists in an instrumental way. We should avoid noticing them and their work only then when we need them for our liturgical celebrations, to forget them afterwards. We should make a continuous effort to form their spirituality. Only then will their participation in liturgy be fruitful and complete so they could, through singing, organ playing, but also through their conduct, give the testimony of their strengthened faith. Clergymen need retreat and meditation, so as to more explicitly preach Jesus, but secular Catholics, our associates need them as well. Let us appreciate the possibility of influencing believers, helping them in deepening their faith, all done by good and valuable music. Let us avoid ignoring this charisma which has been given to us. Another, perhaps still little valued, possibility of pastoral influencing believers is good liturgical music, or church music in general. We can preach the mystery of faith through sounds. What we need the is to learn how to treat music in liturgy seriously. Not as a complementary element of silent moments of celebration, but as an integral part of it. Music can help us raise our hearts towards God, it can teach faith, bolster up hope, teach the spiritual way of everyday life. Liturgical music is then the pastoral way of Church doings. To sum up, it is worth to cite the words of Pope Benedict XVI: I encourage all shepherds to do their best so as to emanate with authentic Eucharistic Christian spirituality. The care for music and musicians should be the pastoral care of the Church.

In the view of explanation of „formal act” term, the author of the revised text tried again to find an answer for a question concerning the obligation to obey the pure ecclesiastical law by people who leave the Catholic Church by „formal act”. He makes the clear distinction between „administrative act” and formal act of leaving the Catholic Church. According to him, only with the reference to the first act there is obligation to obey the pure ecclesiastical law. It does not refer to the second situation because bonds of ecclesiastical community are broken. As per author these bonds are the decisive criteria to obey ecclesiastical law by people who leave the Catholic Church.

The Parish of The Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ was funded on the 1st January 1929 and comprised the north-eastern part of the town and its neighboring villages, which were after separated from this new parish and embedded into the older Saint Anthony’s Parish. The Reverend Antoni Machnikowski was the first parish priest and in 1928, he built on this parish premises a temporary church dedicated to St. Michael and parish buildings. Although the construction works started and finished within the times of an economic crisis, it was not until 1936 that the parish managed to pay off loans taken for building the church.

Contemporary moral discussions are a place of increasing struggles between the supporters of subjective and objective approaches to ethics. According to the first standpoint the values are based on the nature of the real beings. The second point of view declares that ethical norms and moral values depend on free decisional acts of every human being or on the will of majority. A false understanding of freedom is responsible for the loss of human dignity nowadays. If our freedom does not stem from the objective truth about the good, the civilization of life will soon completely change into the civilization of death. Its signs are e.g. legal permission for abortion, euthanasia, consent for suicides etc. It is necessary to remind there is no right to death. Therefore, politicians should remember it is impossible to unite Europe with the right of killing any kind of people. We have to believe that the power of life is stronger than (anti)culture of death with its tendency to nihilism.

This article consists of the following parts: introduction, in Adam all sinned, original sin with love, from person to object, breaking human relationship, humanity dispersed; conclusion. Appropriate understanding of the Church’s teaching on original sin needs to portray this issue in the light of God’s love. The doctrine of faith of original sin is based solely on Revelation. A correct understanding of it refers to the Person and the salvation of Jesus Christ, the „new Adam”.

The encyclical is involved in the profound exegesis of the Bible (appreciate that many Protestants), Fathers of the Church and of Christian history and tradition to explain the meaning of such a profound and universal concept, which is love. The text is full of explanations of Scripture and references to classic Christian authors, in particular St. Augustine. Love – caritas – will always prove necessary, even in the most just society. There is no ordering of the State so just that it can eliminate the need for a service of love. Whoever wants to eliminate love is preparing to eliminate man as such. There will always be suffering which cries out for consolation and help. There will always be loneliness. There will always be situations of material need where help in the form of concrete love of neighbour is indispensable.
