    Zintegrowane systemy informatyczne zarządzania pozyskują dane z wielu źródeł wewnętrznych i zewnętrznych na świecie, a więc dane te mogą posiadać różną jakość. Skuteczne zarządzanie musi jednakże bazować na danych o wysokiej jakości. Ważnymi cechami danych są pilność i aktualność, niezaprzeczalność, zrozumiałość i wiarygodność. Tylko na podstawie takich danych osoby zarządzające mogą podejmować prawidłowe decyzje ekonomiczne. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza problematyki związanej z jakością danych i zarządzaniem tą jakością w zintegrowanych systemach informatycznych zarządzania. W pierwszej części przedstawiono istotę pojęcia jakości danych. Następnie scharakteryzowano problematykę zarządzania jakością danych w zintegrowanych systemach informatycznych zarządzania. Ostatnią część artykułu stanowi dyskusja nad praktycznymi aspektami zarządzania jakością danych.

    Purpose: The main purpose of the study was to develop and demonstrate a concept enabling application of popular and commonly available online forms combined with a spreadsheet to support data collection and processing under the ABCD (Suzuki) method. Design/methodology/approach: The factors which determine the various ways in which the method in question is applied were first identified, and then it was established which of them affected the manner in which the form to be filled by experts is designed. Different variants of the method were identified on such a basis. For individual variants, the possibility of using different types of questions was discussed by considering the features available in the most popular and free-of-charge solutions enabling online forms to be developed. Diverse data layouts were also identified to establish the frameworks in which data are represented in spreadsheet files. Solutions which make it possible to automatically produce the consolidated reports required for purposes of the ABCD method were identified for each of the data layouts originally defined. Findings: When combined with a spreadsheet, popular online forms enable highly efficient data collection and processing with the ABCD method in use. Where the said method is applied according to the variant in which every cause is rated, an adequate data collection form can be created using both the online form solutions subject to analysis. If the method is applied according to the variant in which every rating must be used precisely once, developing a useful tool becomes significantly more complicated. Where this is the case, one can create a suitable form to validate the input data only by using the solution delivered by Google. Additionally, the layout of such a form must be reversed compared to the traditional form functioning under the ABCD method. Considering the diverse variants of the ABCD method linked with various kinds of questions used to build the form, 3 different layouts of the data collected by means of a spreadsheet were identified. With respect to each of them, one can devise a solution to ensure automated generation of the consolidated reports typical of the method in question. Practical implications: The solution proposed in the paper can be applied in practice while using the ABCD (Suzuki) method. Originality/value: The concept described in the paper is the author’s signature solution.

    Purpose: The main purpose of the research is to devise and present a concept for a solution enabling integration of popular off-the-shelf online forms with a tool aligned with the MiRel concept used for quality measurement by application of the SERQUAL method. Design/methodology/approach: The analysis performed by the author comprised various possibilities of using standard features of popular online forms to store data for purposes of the SERVQUAL method. This involved identification of several potential layouts of the master table where the answers previously received are kept. The analysis concerned the data structure applied in the tool designed, as proposed in the literature, in accordance with the MiRel concept, to support the method in question. The elements identified in this structure were the attributes whose values should be entered directly and manually in tables as well as those whose values should be added automatically on the basis of the answers previously received. Solutions were developed to enable automatic data migration from the master table to the tool’s respective tables. Findings: The data required for purposes of the SERVQUAL analysis, supported by a tool created in a spreadsheet according to the MiRel concept, can be successfully stored by means of commonly available online forms. What proves to be problematic is the impossibility of verifying the correctness of the answers in terms of the relevance of individual dimensions, yet in this respect both the verification and potential adjustment of the answers received can be inherent in the mechanism responsible for data migration from the master table to the tool’s tables. A fully functional solution enabling data to be retrieved from the master table and moved to the tool’s tables can be developed using built-in spreadsheet features only, without the need for any code created in any programming language. Practical implications The solution proposed in the paper can be used in practice when measuring quality using the SERVQUAL method. Originality/value: The concept described in the paper is the author’s original solution.

    W artykule zaprezentowano koncepcję narzędzia informatycznego wspomagającego prowadzenie kart kontrolnych Shewarta. W pierwszej kolejności omówiono ogólnie koncepcję kart kontrolnych a także określono założoną funkcjonalność dla tworzonego narzędzia. Dla założonej funkcjonalności, zidentyfikowano dane, które muszą być gromadzone i przechowywane w narzędziu. Dla zidentyfikowanych danych zaproponowano strukturę zgodną z relacyjnym modelem danych. W dalszej kolejności szczegółowo omówiono implementację bazy danych w arkuszu kalkulacyjnym oraz przedstawiono rozwiązania pozwalające na przeprowadzenie analizy dla wybranej właściwości. Zaproponowane rozwiązania pozwalają na automatyczną identyfikację punktów tworzących przedstawione w normie konfiguracje wskazujące sytuacje wymagające wyjaśnienia. Stworzone mechanizmy pozwalają również na przejrzystą prezentację wyników zarówno w formie tabelarycznej jak i za pomocą odpowiednich wykresów dla wybranego przez użytkownika zakresu próbek.
    The article addresses a concept of an IT tool proposed to support the application of the Shewart control charts. The concept of control charts has been generally explained in the initial sections of the paper, providing a definition of the functionality envisaged for the tool being developed. With regard to the said functionality, data which must be acquired and stored in the tool have been identified. For the sake of the data identification, a specific structure conforming with the relational data model has been proposed. What follows is a detailed description of database implementation in a spreadsheet as well as an introduction of a solution allowing the chosen property to be analysed. All the solutions proposed enable automatic identification of the points forming the configurations specified in the reference standard, indicating situations which require further explanation. The mechanisms developed also make it possible to represent the results obtained in a transparent form, both in tables and by means of appropriate graphs, depending on the range of samples chosen by the user.

    Opis:
    Statistical Process Control (SPC) based on the Shewhart’s type control charts, is widely used in contemporary manufacturing industry, including many foundries. The main steps include process monitoring, detection the out-of-control signals, identification and removal of their causes. Finding the root causes of the process faults is often a difficult task and can be supported by various tools, including data-driven mathematical models. In the present paper a novel approach to statistical control of ductile iron melting process is proposed. It is aimed at development of methodologies suitable for effective finding the causes of the out-of-control signals in the process outputs, defined as ultimate tensile strength (Rm) and elongation (A5), based mainly on chemical composition of the alloy. The methodologies are tested and presented using several real foundry data sets. First, correlations between standard abnormal output patterns (i.e. out-of-control signals) and corresponding inputs patterns are found, basing on the detection of similar patterns and similar shapes of the run charts of the chemical elements contents. It was found that in a significant number of cases there was no clear indication of the correlation, which can be attributed either to the complex, simultaneous action of several chemical elements or to the causes related to other process variables, including melting, inoculation, spheroidization and pouring parameters as well as the human errors. A conception of the methodology based on simulation of the process using advanced input - output regression modelling is presented. The preliminary tests have showed that it can be a useful tool in the process control and is worth further development. The results obtained in the present study may not only be applied to the ductile iron process but they can be also utilized in statistical quality control of a wide range of different discrete processes.

    Autor przedstawia ogólny zarys teoretycznego modelu TQM, czyli globalnego zarządzania jakością w statystyce oficjalnej. W artykule omawia prace poświęcone tematowi jakości danych prowadzone przez krajowe urzędy statystyczne na świecie, a następnie wyjaśnia zastosowanie idei TQM w różnych dziedzinach, a szczególnie w statystyce. Kolejno przedstawia komponenty TQM na podstawie prac Eurostatu, kładąc szczególny akcent na podejście systemowe i procesowe oraz na rolę przywództwa w realizacji TQM.
    The author presents, in general outline, the theoretical TQM, i.e, total quality management model in the official statistics, beginning with data quality assessments prepared by the National Statistical Institutions in different countries. Next, philosophy of TQM is outlined in different fields, mainly in statistics. Using Eurostat publications, different component of TQM are discussed, focusing on system, process and leaders approaches, in TQM implementation.
    Автор представляет общие черты теоретической модели TQM, или глобального управления качеством в официальной статистике. В статье характеризуются разработки по качеству данных, реализированные национальными статистическим управлениями в мире, а затем объяснаестя использование философии TQM в разных областях, а особенно в статистике. В следующей части представляются по очереди компоненты TQM на основе зработок Евростата, с особым акцентом на системный и процессный подход, а также на роль руководства во внедрении TQM.

    The author presents a general overview of his contacts with „Statistical News" and research topics covered by the journal. He recalls the first editors-in-chief and cooperation with the editorial board. The author discusses some of his articles published in „Statistical News” devoted mainly to: sample surveys, quality of statistical data, methodology of poverty research and its analysis, consumer prices research, estimation method for small areas as well as total quality management (TQM). Finally, the author shares his reflections on 60 years of professional experience and mentions some of the achievements of national and foreign statisticians he cooperated with.
