Opis:
The effects of tree genotype on below−ground ectomycorrhizal fungal communities of 40 years old European larch from Kowary, Bliżyn, Świętokrzyski National Park and Szczytna Śląska origins was investigated. The research was carried out in the provenance trial in the Experimental Forestry Unit in Krynica Zdrój (Beskid Sądecki Mountains, S Poland). Ectomycorrhizal fungal communities were assessed by a combination of morphological and molecular techniques. In total 22 fungal taxa has been distinguished (from 17 to 20, depending on larch provenance). Thirteen ectomycorrhizal fungal taxa were common to all analysed origins. The mean taxa richness, Shannon diversity and Simpson dominance coefficient did not differ significantly between provenances. Based on fungal taxa composition (Jaccard coefficient) tested larch origins were characterized by a high level of similarity of ectomycorrhizal fungal communities. Six detected fungal taxa have not been previously reported as symbiotic partners of European larch.

Opis:
The study aimed at estimating the genotype × environment (G × E) interaction, stability and plasticity parameters for height growth and survival of hybrid aspen (Populus tremula L. × Populus tremuloides Michx.) clones. A set of 17 hybrid aspen clones were studied at age four in 11 field trials (series 1) and a set of 12 clones were studied at age 12 in three field trials (series 2) in Sweden, Finland and north-west Russia. There was an intermediate and significant correlation between height ranks at four and 12 years, showing modest G × E interaction for tree height. The corresponding correlation for survival was weak and insignificant, indicating a stronger G × E interaction than for height. The stability parameter (S) for height showed large differences among clones. The plasticity index (PI) values for height ranged from 0.6 to 0.8 among clones, demonstrating high levels of phenotypic plasticity.

Opis:
Water is the most important environmental factor in growth and fruit yield of trees. To study the effect of deficit irrigation on reproductive characteristics and yield of seven superior olive genotypes of D1, Dd1, Gw, Ps1, Bn3, Bn6, and Ds17. The present research was accomplished in Dallaho Olive Research Station of Sarpol-e zahab, Kermanshah, Iran, in 2014 and 2015. Seven superior olive genotypes were studied in a randomized complete block design with three replicates and three irrigation regimes. The irrigation treatments included: 100% full irrigation (control), 75% deficit irrigation, and 50% deficit irrigation applied during the growth season. The results indicated that the genotypes had different reactions to the deficit irrigation regimes. Dd1 had the highest fruit weight, while the lowest fruit weight was observed in Ps1 and Gw. The highest fruit yield was found in Bn3, Bn6, and Dd1, while the lowest was observed in Ps1. As a result, Bn6 and Dd1 are introduced as the genotypes that are resistant to drought in the field.

Opis:
In connection with the decline of spruce stands on the Krynica plots of IPTNS-IUFRO 1964/68, observed in the last decade and attributed to the so-called spiral disease, an attempt was made to determine whether the current health condition of trees is influenced by genotype (provenance). As shown by preliminary observations, the spruces differed in the degree of survival depending on provenance. The inventories of died or broken trees to be removed during the sanitary cutting, made in the years 2000, 2003, 2004 and 2008, yielded also information about the number of spruces that remained in the blocks of the experiment for each provenance and provenance region by Krutzsch (1968). Analysis of variance showed that genotype (provenance) has a statistically significant effect on the survival of trees. In the years 1999-2008, spruces from region 21 (Bohemian Forest) displayed the poorest survival rate in the conditions of the Beskid Sądecki Mts., while those from region 80 (Eastern Siberia) survived best.
