Opis:
The present study focuses on two Baltic-type peat bogs in Slowinski National Park, namely that at Żarnowskie and at Kluki, located in the Lake Łebsko catchment and both characterised by a centrally located dome with a very marshy fringe area featuring an emerging marshy coniferous forest (Vaccinio uliginosi-Pinetum). The Żarnowskie bog is under active protection. A total of 24 flow barriers were installed in drainage ditches during the years 2006 and 2007. The purpose of these barriers was to put a halt to water outflow. In addition, 30 hectares of young pine forest were cleared in order to decrease loss of water via evapotranspiration. Kluki peat bog is only partially protected by Polish law. The lack of efforts to prevent outflow via the canal is due to the fact that the canal is utilised to drain meadows in the vicinity of the village of Łokciowe outside of the national park. Peat formation no longer occurs in this peat bog. The hydrological condition of the bog is catastrophic as a result of its main canal, referred to as Canal C9, which is 2.5 to 3.0 m deep and 10 m wide in places. Both peat bogs are monitored for fluctuations in groundwater. Research has shown that changes in water levels fluctuate based on season of the year and geographical location, which is illustrated quite well using the two studied peat bogs. The water retention rate of the Żarnowskie peat bog may be considered fairly high and is likely to improve due to protective measures enabled by Polish environmental laws. The water retention rate of the bog is consistently improving thanks to these measures, fluctuations in water level are small and the water level does not drop under 0.5 m below ground level even under extreme hydrometeorological conditions. This yields optimum conditions for renewed peat formation in this area. One potential threat is the Krakulice peat extraction facility, which is located in the southern part of the bog close to the boundary with the national park.

The article presents the current state of knowledge in the field of estimating preliminary values of storm water subcatchment calibration parameters in the case of using the Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) for building a model of storm water drainage system. The key issue is estimating the runoff width in the case of reducing the network structure and storm water catchments due to the shortening of calculation time and simplification of the model calibration process. Correction of one of the recommended literature methods has been proposed. The assessment was based on the real catchment model with single and multi-family housing. It was found possible to apply the proposed method in the case of reducing systems connected in series.

Opis:
Purpose: The primary purpose of the article is to cross-sectionally present the concept of a model for optimizing the main drainage system in a coal mine. Design/methodology/approach: The stated goal was achieved by using several research methods, including a literature study of existing technical system models and technical system modeling. Finally, the methodology used was based on a layered approach, which was verified by testing in a mine environment. Findings: In the course of the work, it was found that the main drainage system at the Sobieski Coal Mine is very complex. The energy intensity of the main dewatering process was identified as the main problem. The proposed concept of a layered model of the main dewatering system makes it possible to identify the influence of technical, management and economic parameters of the system. Research limitations/implications: The research limitations are due to the complexity of the system, the difficulties arising from the specificity of the mine environment, the lack of the possibility of ongoing diagnostics of the entire infrastructure (e.g. pipeline specification, the ability to measure sediment in water galleries, smooth change of the speed of drive mechanisms, etc.). Practical implications: The results of the research work will be recommendations for engineering and technical staff aimed at reducing the energy intensity of the system. Social implications: the conducted research is part of the current trend of searching for methods to reduce the energy intensity of systems and equipment. Originality/value: The originality of the issue stems from the proposed concept of a layered model of the main drainage system, taking into account technical, organizational and economic parameters. Determining the relationship between the elements of each layer will enable the development of an optimization method to reduce the energy intensity of the system.

This paper presents the concept for the location of two dry water reservoirs designed to retain water led through the main ditch (R) of the drainage system in Łączany. The purpose of the work is to develop a forecast for the reduction in the capacity of planned dry water reservoirs. Planned water reservoirs will allow increasing flood protection of drained areas. Based on geodetic measurements in the selected locations, the capacity of planned dry reservoirs was determined, amounting to 4.08 and 115.49 thousand m3, respectively for the U reservoir formed from the flood relief channel, and the R reservoir, located in the lower course of the R ditch. According to the developed forecast, applying the Gončarov formula, the U reservoir would be 50% silted after 134 years, and the R reservoir would be 50% silted after 149 years. The forecast has been prepared using the method recommended by the guidelines, i.e. it was developed as for reservoirs with constant water damming (accumulation). TE values determined using the Churchill method were adopted in the silting forecast. The estimated forecast indicates a long service life of the reservoirs without the need for their desilting. However, the development of a detailed forecast would require a modification of the calculation methodology, taking into account the determination of the capacity of water reservoirs to retain bed load, typical of dry water reservoirs. In the absence of the method, determination of the service life cycle of water reservoirs can be developed as an estimate.
W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono koncepcję lokalizacji dwóch suchych zbiorników wodnych zatrzymujących wodę prowadzoną rowem głównym R systemu odwadniającego w Łączanach. Celem pracy jest opracowanie prognozy redukcji pojemności planowanych suchych zbiorników wodnych. Planowane zbiorniki wodne umożliwią zwiększenie ochrony przeciwpowodziowej terenów odwadnianych. Na podstawie pomiarów geodezyjnych w wytypowanych lokalizacjach określono pojemności planowanych suchych zbiorników, wynoszącą 4,08 i 115,49 tys. m3, odpowiednio dla zbiornika U utworzonego z kanału ulgi i zbiornika R, zlokalizowanego w dolnym biegu rowu R. Według opracowanej prognozy formułą Gončarova zbiornik U zostałby zamulony w 50% po upływie 134 lat, a zbiornik a zbiornik R zostałby zamulony w 50% po upływie 149 lat. Prognoza została opracowana metodą zalecaną przez wytyczne, tj. została opracowana tak jak dla zbiorników o stałym piętrzeniu wody. W prognozie zamulania przyjęto wartości TE określone metodą Churchilla. Szacunkowa prognoza wskazuje na długi okres użytkowania zbiorników bez konieczności ich odmulania. Jednakże opracowanie szczegółowej prognozy wymagało by zmodyfikowania metodyki obliczeń uwzględniające określenie zdolności zbiorników wodnych do zatrzymywania rumowiska właściwą dla suchych zbiorników wodnych. Ze względu na brak tej metody określenie żywotności zbiorników wodnych może być opracowywane jako szacunkowe.

Opis:
The type of precipitation is one of the factors taken into consideration when deciding on the most optimal drainage system. Drainage systems are used to prevent the landslides caused by water erosion. Rainfall affect the rate of infiltration and the intensity of surface runoff and thus the occurrence, course and effectiveness of erosion processes [1, 2, 3]. Knowledge of local precipitation trends will help to apply precautions and thus minimise the risk of adverse events such as landslides. What is more it can help more effectively manage projects risks and costs. The aim of this study was to analyse more than 30 years of data from daily rainfall measurements from the Podkarpackie Voivodeship and to check whether the occurrence of precipitation is a random event or whether it indicates long-term trends that may affect changes in ground stability. The non-parametric Mann-Kendall test and correlation test were used for the analysis.
