    Opis:
    Decision rules are commonly used tool for classification and knowledge discovery in data. The aim of this paper is to provide decision rule-based framework for analysis of survival data and apply it in mining of data describing patients after bone marrow transplantation. The paper presents a rule induction algorithm which uses sequential covering strategy and rule quality measures. An extended version of the algorithm gives the possibility of taking into account user’s requirements in the form of predefined rules and attributes which should be included in the final rule set. Additionally, in order to summarize the knowledge expressed by rule-based model, we propose the rule filtration algorithm which consists in selection of statistically significant rules describing the most disjoint parts of the entire data set. Selected rules are identified with so-called survival patterns. The survival patterns are rules which conclusions contain Kaplan-Meier estimates of survival function. In this way, the paper combines rule-based data classification and description with survival analysis. The efficiency of our method is illustrated with the analysis of data describing patients after bone marrow transplantation.

    Opis:
    Mojena and Wishart criteria are methods of selecting the optimal grouping result of agglomerative cluster analysis methods (hierarchical). Two criteria were proposed by Mojena in the 70’s of the 20th century: the upper tail rule and moving average quality control rule, both based on an analysis of the fusion levels of objects in the dendrogram with the aim to determine the cut-off point of it, i.e. to choose the optimal clustering result. The third criterion: tree validation was created by Wishart and evaluates the randomness of the objects clustering in the dendrogram. The purpose of this paper is to present the results of the empirical analysis of the effectiveness of Mojena and Wishart criteria for the number of clusters selection, in comparison to other applicable criteria in this area, including those proposed by: Baker and Hubert, Calinski and Harabasz, Davies and Bouldin, Hubert and Levine. The empirical analysis has been carried out in ClustanGraphics 8 Program and selected packages in R environment for the generated data sets.

    This paper studies the characteristics of marine water quality monitoring data monitored by photoelectric sensor network, mines the potential information from the massive data. on account of the continuous accumulation of monitoring data, this paper focuses on the study of database with numerical attribute and proposes a rule updating algorithm for solving the rule maintenance issues caused by changes in the database. according to the rule, the algorithm forms a new database from part of the original data and the new data, and searches the new database by random search, thus can avoid creating a large number of redundant rules and can quickly mine effective rules at the same time. experimental results show that this method not only can avoid mining in the whole original massive data, but also can improve work efficiency, and can quickly and effectively find new data and find useful rules in the data with high practicability.

    W artykule zajęto się problematyką wyznaczania celów. Przedstawiono case-study z wykorzystania zasady podwójnego Pareto i zasady SMART dla wyboru i definiowania celów w zakresie poprawy jakości usług w odniesieniu do firmy z branży odzieżowej. W pierwszej kolejności przedstawiono definicję celu, powiązanie celów z intencją, zadaniami, strategią organizacji, z koncepcją zarządzania przez cele. Przedstawiono pod względem teoretycznym dwie zasady, tj. zasadę podwójnego Pareto i zasadę SMART w zakresie wyboru celów i ich prawidłowego formułowania. W części praktycznej przedstawiono wykorzystanie tych zasad w firmie z branży odzieżowej. Zidentyfikowano problemy związane z jakością badanej firmy w oparciu o opinie jej klientów zebrane w Internecie. Dokonano identyfikacji najważniejszych celów, z jakimi firma powinna się zmierzyć, aby podnieść jakość sprzedawanych produktów i świadczonych usług. Dokonano selekcji tych celów wykorzystując zasadę podwójnego Pareto. Doprecyzowano te cele wykorzystując zasadę SMART. Najważniejszy cel do realizacji dla badanej firmy to poprawa jakości ubrań. Wykazano, że aby zrealizować te cele firma będzie musiała w szczególności skupić się na zmianie strategii cenowej i zakupowej.
    The article deals with the problem of setting goals. A case-study on the use of the Pareto double rule and the SMART principle for the selection and defining of goals in terms of improving the quality of services in relation to a clothing company was presented. In the first place, the definition of the goal, linking objectives with intention, tasks, organization strategy, with the concept of management by objectives was presented. Theoretically, two principles have been presented, i.e. the dual Pareto principle and the SMART principle, for the selection of objectives and their correct formulation. The practical part presents the use of these principles in a clothing industry company. Problems related to the quality of the company being researched based on the opinions of its clients collected on the Internet have been identified. The identification of the most important goals the company should face in order to improve the quality of products sold and services provided was identified. These goals were selected using the Pareto double rule. These goals have been clarified using the SMART principle. The most important goal for the company being tested is to improve the quality of clothes. It has been shown that in order to achieve these goals, the company will have to focus in particular on changing the pricing and purchasing strategy.

    Celem pracy była ocena zmian w charakterze i intensywności produkcji rolniczej, a także sposobie gospodarowania na trwałych użytkach zielonych, w kontekście możliwości wdrażania zasad „cross-compliance” – tzw. zasad wzajemnej zgodności – wśród rolników zamieszkujących tereny górskie i gospodarujących w nich. Analizę przeprowadzono dla dwóch zlewni górskich: górnego Dunajca po przekrój w Krościenku oraz górnej Raby po przekrój w Dobczycach. W ostatnich 10 latach, po wejściu naszego kraju do Unii Europejskiej, nastąpiło wyraźne zwiększenie powierzchni łąk. Powierzchnia pastwisk nie uległa większym zmianom, jedynie w wybranych fragmentach zlewni górnego Dunajca nieznacznie wzrosła. Zmniejszyło się pogłowie zwierząt gospodarskich, których obsadę zredukowano o kilkaset procent, co ograniczyło poziom nawożenia. Poprawiła się również jakość wód powierzchniowych w badanych zlewniach. Uwarunkowania te korzystnie wpływają na implementację zasady wzajemnej zgodności, która od 2009 roku jest wprowadzana w naszym kraju. Producenci rolni są zobligowani do przestrzegania jej wymogów w swoich gospodarstwach, a niskonakładowy charakter produkcji i duży udział trwałych użytków zielonych w strukturze użytków rolnych oraz dobra jakość wód powierzchniowych ułatwia im to zadanie, szczególnie w zakresie ochrony środowiska przyrodniczego.
    The study aims to assess both the changes in the type and intensity of agricultural production and the methods of permanent grasslands management in the context of implementation possibilities of “cross-compliance” rule amongst farmers living in mountain areas. The analysis was performed in two mountain catchments: in the upper Dunajec River down to the cross-section in Krościenko and in the upper Raba River down to the cross-section in Dobczyce. During the last ten years, after the access of our country to the European Union, the surface area of meadows significantly increased. The area of pastures has not changed much, except in some parts of the upper Dunajec River catchment. The livestock population was reduced by several hundred percent, which resulted in a decrease of fertilization level. An improvement of the quality of surface water was noted in the investigated catchments. These conditions have a positive effect on the implementation of the “cross-compliance” rule, which is being introduced in our country since 2009. Farmers are obliged to follow this rule in their farms. Low-input agricultural production, a high share of permanent grasslands in the structure of agricultural land and a good quality of surface water help farmers to meet the requirements, particularly in the environmental protection field.
