Opis:: The paper “Family in Islam” is a theoretical discussion on the origin, structure, and function of the institution of family in Muslim culture. The author refers to the religious sources (the Holy Book of Islam – the Koran), theological, and philosophical commentaries of Muslim authors. She also uses culture studies, sociology of family, social geography and journalism concerning the Arab areas. The paper contains an introduction, saying that it is necessary to learn and conduct an interreligious dialogue. Then the foundation and main principles of Islam have been discussed. Against this background the author has shown the assumptions on which the Muslim family is based. The author describes the most frequent today problems with the structure, function, and family roles in the group under study. Eventually, some traits of the family in the culture of Islam have been highlighted.

Opis:: The article presents the problem of the identity formation of an adolescent, in the context of the most socially significant reference group – the family. Adolescence is a time for searching for answers to many questions about the sense of life, goals, values, priorities. The individual identity formation process is a unique developmental opportunity, but at the same time a difficult period for those growing up, as well as their family. The article discusses the main directional changes which accompany identity formation and presents the social context of this process. It is a parental task to create a safe space of living together for their growing children, where there are common beliefs about values, ideals and life priorities. The article especially highlights the meaning of spiritual and world-view questions, which – as a basis of parents’ lives - give directions to their children’s pursuit of answers to the basic questions accompanying identity formation.

Opis:: The aim of this paper is to present the types of fertility patterns that characterise European countries and their NUTS-1 units in the early 21st c. and in the near future. The types of fertility patterns were defined by ordering six five-year age groups of women aged from 15 to 44 years, according to the groups’ fertility rates (from the highest to the lowest). The analysis resulted in the creation of 14 different types of fertility patterns. Countries located in the same European region tend to have the same or similar type of fertility pattern. In most European countries, the postponement transition can be observed, and it will probably continue in the future. Differences between the fertility rates of the age groups were assessed within countries and between countries with the same type of fertility pattern by calculating the so-called fertility rate ratios. The paper also provides an overview of the main theories and concepts explaining the course of family formation processes in Europe and indicates factors that shape fertility patterns in European countries today.
