Counsellors are important key members in Chinese universities. In this paper, on the one hand, we compared student affairs workers’ occupational characteristics, classification and development of western as well as Chinese university. On the other hand, Chinese university faculty members and students are our subjects. Of 800 pieces circulated, 537 pieces are found to be effective. We verified the reliability and validity of data, then conducted correlation analysis, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The test has good reliability and validity. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and the split-half reliability coefficient are all above 0.9, indicating that the actual value is in good accordance with the true value. The internal alpha coefficient and the split-half reliability coefficient of each factor are all above 0.8. Χ2/df<5. GFI, AGFI, NFI, CFI, IFI,RMSEA and the other indicators are fitting, and this test meets measurement requirements. A 5-factor model is formulated based on the research results, including: moral quality; professional competence; political awareness; instructive ability; interpersonal skills. This 5-factor model reflects the evaluation of faculty members and students in universities on qualities of counsellors and transformation in their expectation for the role counsellors play as time goes by. So we summarize the qualities of counsellors are constantly changing. These changes have been constantly evolving in time, and their traits are such as: Objectivity of the times, Initiative of inner, Predictability of practice. Being well aware of the trend of this career is conducive to the formation of a sound relationship between counsellors and students, measurability for morality-oriented education, and improvement in counsellors’ overall qualities.

The child’s illness, suffering and death provoke many emotions in  the family. The ill child and its family both experience grief which is an emotional reaction to the danger of losing health or life. Support offered by home hospices for children aims at overcoming the destructive influence of illness. A hospice counsellor’s task is to improve the ill child and its family’s quality of life. He is helping the family overcome grief and prepare for the child’s death. The hospice team supports the family members who experience anticipatory and later, actual mourning. Preventing pathological effects of grief is a basic challenge for people who offer help.

The authors of this paper reflect on the socio-cultural contexts for defining the role of counsellors. They indicate the differences and similarities of the role of the counsellor in different countries and cultures in the context of contemporary social changes. The authors emphasise the complexity of a counsellor’s role indicating context-related issues (social, cultural, political) in which counselling itself, understood as a social process or/and ‘culture product’ is anchored.
Autorzy niniejszego artykułu podejmują próbę rozważań o społeczno-kulturowych kontekstach definiowania roli doradców. Starają się wskazać podobieństwa i różnice w koncepcjach roli doradcy w różnych krajach i kulturach na świecie. Podkreślają złożoność kwestii wyznaczania roli społecznej doradcy, wynikającą głównie z kontekstów (społecznych, kulturowych, politycznych), w jakich osadzone jest samo poradnictwo, rozumiane jako proces społeczny i/lub wytwór kulturowy.

Przedstawione obszary stały się podstawą do wyznaczenia nowego bilansu kompetencji doradcy. Artykuł jest doniesieniem z badań nad specyfiką i warsztatem pracy doradcy zawodowego realizującego swoje funkcje i zadania w strukturach publicznych służb zatrudnienia.
The article makes an attempt at showing modern understanding of career counselling as an important tool supporting personal, professional and social development of an individual through promotion of any pro-active and self-fulfilling forms throughout the life. It shows the competences areas of a career counsellor in relation to European standards and their influence on shaping an independent person. The presented areas have become a basis for establishing a new study of counsellor’s competences. This article is also a source of information on the research devoted to the specific nature and tools of the career counsellor’s job within the public employment services.

An active collaboration with teachers is a prerequisite of system based approach to school counselling. The objective of the research was examining the experiences of school counsellors regarding collaboration with teachers in the domain of student counselling in the school setting in Serbia. This research applied a pragmatist qualitative approach using a semi-structured interview. Participants were 81 elementary school counsellors (pedagogues). The results show that teachers are generally open for collaboration during student counselling. Teachers’ acceptance of advice depends on their personality and classroom management style. Conclusions offer recommendations for improving the partnership relations as a basis for effective student counselling.

Objectives: The main aim of the research was to become acquainted with the conditions of work and the tasks of the school counsellor resulting from the psychological and pedagogical help performed at educational facilities. Material and methods: The following two methods were used to obtain the research material: the diagnostic survey and assessment. Results: The results of quantitative analyses were classified into the following areas: the conditions of work, the school counsellor’s duties, the forms of pedagogical help in their work with the students, parents and teachers, the factors that influence the school counsellor’s model of work and individual features important in the profession of school counsellor. The mentioned analyses indicate that the contemporary counsellor is mainly a woman (the profession is feminised), with higher education, systematically improving and supplementing their knowledge so as to perform the tasks set by the pedagogical supervision and family, school and local environment. Conclusions: Thanks to adequate professional preparation and application of a wide range of forms of help for the students, teacher and parents, the school counsellor constitutes a significant link of psychological and pedagogical help performed at the educational facilities.

W świetle powyższego spostrzeżenia autorka podejmuje wątek ról, jakie współcześnie rzeczywistość zawodowa stawia przed doradcą zawodu. Wprowadza czytelnika w świat coachingu, mentoringu i facylitatingu, obszarów działania osób profesjonalnie zajmujących się poradnictwem zawodowym. Autorka charakteryzuje te obszary, a następnie odnosi je do myślenia paradygmatycznego.
In a dynamically changing reality professions are undergoing constant transformations. More often not only the work market, but also practice verifies the usefulness of a profession. They also influence changes in activities and force a change in the philosophy of performing a job. In light of the above-mentioned observation the author takes up the theme of roles brought towards the career counsellor by the contemporary world. She brings the reader into the world of coaching, mentoring, facilitation, areas of activity of people professionally involved with career counselling. The author characterises these fields and then relates them to pragmatic thinking.

This article addresses the issue of the competence of counsellors working with people experiencing sexual violence. The theoretical part of the article describes the basic concepts related to institutional (professional) counselling and describes a professional counsellor and his/her competences in a descriptive way. The subject of the research includes the competences of counsellors in the field of working with people who have experienced sexual violence. The purpose of the study was determining and describing their competences – both organizational and professional ones – from the perspective of the experience of individual listeners preparing for counselling work. The study uses a narrative method with content analysis. The research problem took the form of the following question: what are the competences of a counsellor in accompanying a sexually abused person from the perspective of the personal experience of future counsellors? The research was conducted in 2019 among 23 postgraduate students preparing for counselling work. The results made it possible to select subcategories within the examined categories that show the specificity and value of the competences described by the respondents, and allowed us to emphasize the importance of the interdisciplinary knowledge and skills of counsellors. In addition, the conclusions of the study are valuable for pedagogical practice, especially in terms of enriching the offer of studies addressed to counsellors working with people who have experienced sexual violence.

This article intends to reflect on career counselling, considering three main objectives. The first objective is to demonstrate that there is a gap between career counselling theories and counselling realities. The second objective is to outline some of the theoretical insights that are currently being debated around the new paradigm of Life-designing and present the paradigm’s relevance to counselling interventions: to address counselling as a process of continuous interactions which helps in the resolution of problems, locates the process of decision-making within a systematic and realistic frame and brings the individual exigencies into alignment with those of the contexts in which the individuals act, develop and live. Thus, the framework is structured to be life-long, holistic, contextual and preventive. The third objective concerns the process of counselling according to the Life-designing perspectives: theoretical reflection fosters and underpins intervention methods and techniques which promote the development of self-knowledge and facilitate (or inhibit) the decision-making processes. The narratives and activities developed by individuals, rather than test scores and profile interpretations, are the crucial methodological focal points. By way of illustrating this mode of practising career counselling, a case study is reported and discussed after the outline of Life-designing career counselling methods. In conclusion, some of the challenges that this creates for career counsellors concerned with these issues are discussed.
Założeniem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie refleksji nad poradnictwem kariery. Autorka zakłada trzy główne cele. Pierwszym z nich jest próba wskazania luki pomiędzy teorią poradnictwa kariery a rzeczywistością poradniczą. Drugim jest omówienie niektórych teoretycznych rozważań, które są obecnie przedmiotem debat skupionych wokół nowego paradygmatu konstruowania życia (life designing) i jego relacji z działaniami poradniczymi: omówienie poradnictwa jako procesu nieustannych interakcji, który pomaga w rozwiązywaniu problemów, lokuje podejmowanie decyzji w obrębie usystematyzowanej i realistycznej ramy oraz umożliwia połączenie potrzeb jednostki z wymaganiami kontekstu, w którym działa ona, rozwija się i żyje. Z tego powodu model konstruowania życia jest holistyczny i kontekstowy oraz pełni rolę profilaktyczno-ochronną. Trzeci z celów to opis procesu poradnictwa z punktu widzenia paradygmatu konstruowania życia (life designing): z teoretycznych rozważań wyłania się wykorzystywanie konkretnych metod i technik interwencji, wspierających rozwój wiedzy o sobie samym (self-knowledge), sprzyjających, bądź opóźniających proces podejmowania decyzji. Zamiast wyników testów lub interpretacji profilów osobowościowych, to narracje i działania podejmowane przez jednostki są centralnym punktem ogniskującym aspekty metodyczne i metodologiczne. Istniejące techniki i narzędzia są „rekonfigurowane” przy użyciu ich w podejściu charakterystycznym dla społecznego konstrukcjonizmu. Ten sposób postrzegania poradnictwa kariery zilustrowany jest studium przypadku omówionym po prezentacji zarysu metod zgodnych z paradygmatem „Poradnictwo w konstruowaniu życia” (Life Designing Counselling). W konkluzjach podane zostały niektóre z wyzwań, jakie stoją przed współczesnymi doradcami, zainteresowanymi kwestiami omówionymi w artykule.

Artykuł zawiera przegląd działań realizowanych w ramach poradnictwa zawodowego, kierowanych zarówno do młodzieży, jak i osób dorosłych.
The aim of the article is to analyse the career planning process and review selected forms of support. The key question is – how can one consciously shape one’s own career path? There are many different aspects to consider when choosing the right career planning strategies. Creating an individual path of professional development involves skills, abilities, qualifications and personality traits. The basic principle of planning professional development is to know your abilities and limitations to be able to improve yourself in order to give direction to your career. The article contains an overview of the activities carried out within the framework of vocational guidance addressed to young people and adults.

Motywacja jest działaniem człowieka, które zależy od jego środowiska życia. Otoczenie rodziców, rodzeństwa, dziadków, przyjaciół i znajomych kształtuje postrzeganie świata przez dziecko, wpływa na podejmowanie przez nie różnych czynności życiowych, a także implikuje różne motywy kreowania ludzkich zachowań. Celem artykułu było poszerzenie wiedzy na temat znaczenia wpływu środowiska na motywację do wyboru kierunków studiów przez młodzież akademicką z uwzględnieniem podziału ze względu na płeć. Problemem badawczym była deklaracja respondentów w postrzeganiu wpływów: rodziców, tradycji rodzinnych, rówieśników, nauczycieli, mediów, doradcy zawodowego oraz łatwości dostania się na studia na wybór danego kierunku. Założono hipotezę zerową (H0), stwierdzającą brak zróżnicowania badanych na poziomie istotności statystycznej według płci. Wykonane obliczenia nie wykazały zróżnicowania na poziomie istotności statystycznej. Wyższe wartości procentowe w zakresie wpływu rodziny, tradycji rodzinnych, nauczycieli, mediów, łatwości dostania się na studia i porad doradcy zawodowego, za wyjątkiem wpływu kolegów, uzyskały kobiety. Badania poszerzyły wiedzę o niewielkim wpływie środowiska szkolnego młodzieży, zwłaszcza doradcy zawodowego, na wybór kierunku studiów. Postuluje się zwiększenie możliwości pomocowych ze strony szkoły, zwłaszcza doradcy zawodowego, w celu zwiększenia świadomości młodzieży w zakresie właściwego doboru ścieżki kształcenia.
Motivation is a human activity that depends on one’s living environment. The environment of parents, siblings, grandparents, friends and acquaintances shapes the child’s perception of the world, influences their taking various life activities, and also implies various motives for creating human behaviour. The article aimed to broaden the knowledge on the significance of said influence on the motivation to chose the fields of study of academic youth divided by gender. The research problem was the respondents’ perception of the influence that parents, family traditions, peers, teachers, media, and career counsellor have when it comes to choosing a field of study, while also taking into account the ease of getting into a given field of study. A null hypothesis (H0) was assumed, stating no differentiation of the subjects at the level of statistical significance by gender. The performed calculations did not show any differences at the level of statistical significance. Higher percentages were obtained by women in terms of the influence of family, family traditions, teachers, media, ease of getting into university and career counsellor, except for the influence of acquaintances. The research broadened the knowledge about the small influence of the school environment of young people, especially the vocational counsellor, on the motivation to chose particular fields of study. It is postulated to increase the support possibilities on the part of the school, especially the vocational counsellor, to increase young people’s awareness regarding the proper selection of their education path.

Opis:
Counsellors and practicum supervisors reflected on their professional education preparation, and sometimes lack of preparation, for engagement in multicultural counselling and social justice activities. They highlighted the need for increased emphasis on applied experiences, both within and outside the classroom; the translation of theory into practice; a broader, systemic conceptualisation of client expe‑riences and professional practice roles; and specific skills training for social justice action and advocacy. Implications for counsellor education are highlighted.
Doradcy i opiekunowie praktyk przedstawili swoje przemyślenia na temat przygotowania zawodowego (a czasem jego braku) do uprawiania poradnictwa wielokulturowego oraz podejmowania działań w obszarze sprawiedliwości społecznej. Podkreślili oni potrzebę przywiązywania większej wagi do doświadczenia praktycznego zarówno podczas zajęć akademickich, jak i poza nimi. Inne ważne z ich punktu widzenia kwestie to przekładanie teorii na praktykę, szersza, systemowa konceptualizacja doświadczeń klientów i praktycznej roli zawodowej oraz kształcenie umiejętności bezpośrednio związanych z działaniami w zakresie sprawiedliwości społecznej i rzecznictwa. Artykuł omawia wnioski płynące z tych spostrzeżeń dla kształcenia doradców.

The emergence and rapid spread of SARS-CoV-2 caused uncertainty about our health, jobs, and the education system. For teachers, changes in workplaces and the breakdown of interpersonal relationships during the pandemic caused even greater stress levels in what is already known to be a stressful job. We wanted to find out if a positive or negative attitude towards online work influenced levels of stress and mental well-being, perceived difficulties at work, subjective evaluation of received support, and effectiveness of remote work during the first wave of SARS-CoV-2 in Poland. Data was collected using a questionnaire, the PSS 10 scale and another scale based on GHQ12 and GH30. Nearly one-third of the respondents indicated positive aspects of online education. Those who could see the positive aspects of online education showed themselves better adapted to the new form of working and had higher results in all four scales that we researched. They handled online tools, used synchronous methods, conducted educational activities more often, and felt competent during online work. Supporting the effectiveness of educators by improving the competencies that they need for this new form of working is vital with regard to the changes within the school institution.

Opis:
Work of the guidance counsellor focuses on care, education and preven-tion. The guidance counsellor supports students in the integral development. It helps them to overcome educational problems and co-works with parents. Usu-ally the activity is accompanied by his/her involvement in combating violence not only in school but also in the family. This article focuses on the basic operation of the guidance counsellor in executing “the Blue Card” procedure. The guidance counsellor’s participation in the work of interdisciplinary teams that have been appointed by the mayor or president of the city to take action to prevent domestic violence is described. Attention is drawn to possibilities governed by law to support a child from a family affected by the violence as well as to the need for professional devel-opment of teachers in the field of “the Blue Card” procedure. Only a qualified guidance counsellor, able to work in an interdisciplinary team or a workgroup can give appropriate assistance to child victims.
