    Opis:
    This study examines the effectiveness of concept maps in promoting long-term memory among Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) students. It focuses on the accuracy of content transmission and the acquisition of meaningful learning in bilingual education by connecting new and carefully organized information to students' prior knowledge. Thus, the research assesses the use of concept maps as instructional tools in foreign language (L2, or 'second language') settings, addressing a lack of evidence regarding their effectiveness. It also considers how concept mapping affects long-term memory through factors such as perception, processing, cognition, and transfer. The study examines how bilingualism, bilingual education, and curricular content influence instructional design when using concept maps. The study involved 60 Spanish primary education students attending a semi-public bilingual school. The research results aim to contribute to the development of effective teaching strategies and instructional design in CLIL classrooms, ultimately enhancing students' long-term memory and learning outcomes.

    Zapisy wspomnień (np. pamiętniki, dzienniki, listy) jako najlepsze źródło danych biograficznych w socjologii „złoty wiek” mają już za sobą. Od początku lat 80. zeszłego stulecia liczba ogłaszanych konkursów na materiały autobiograficzne dramatycznie się zmniejszyła. W kontekście współczesnych przemian społecznych, demokratyzacji form zapisu i związanego z tym rozwoju „wyobraźni socjologicznej”, istnieje potrzeba „odświeżenia” refleksji o wybranych elementach metody dokumentów osobistych, która na świecie jest rozpoznawana za sprawą między innymi Floriana Znanieckiego. Ta refleksja dotyczy trojakiego rodzaju zagadnień. Po pierwsze, etycznego uwikłania opisów fenomenologicznych w potoczne i naukowe interpretacje; po drugie, doświadczeniowych i refleksyjnych cech aktu zapisu, charakteryzującego zarówno badanych, jak i badaczy; po trzecie, możliwości procedury mapowania zapisów autobiograficznych z wykorzystaniem map mentalnych (concept maps). Te zagadnienia zostały w artykule przedstawione w odniesieniu do literatury socjologicznej i niesocjologicznej, bowiem społeczne zakorzenienie praktyk piśmiennych przekracza granice dyscyplin. Elastyczność, otwartość i prostota procedury mapowania uwrażliwia teoretyków, jak i praktyków spoza środowiska akademickiego na obecne możliwości opisu zakorzenienia doświadczeń człowieka w rozwarstwionych, ale uporządkowanych obszarach życia codziennego.
    The golden age of memories recorded in written form (e.g., memoirs, diaries, letters) as the best source of biographical information in sociology has come to an end. Since the early 1980s, the number of contests for autobiographical documents has rapidly decreased. In the context of modern social changes, democratization of forms of written record, and the related development of “sociological imagination” there arises a need to “refresh” reflections on several elements of the method of personal documents, which is recognized worldwide thanks to, among others, Florian Znaniecki. This reflection concerns three categories of issues. First, the ethical involvement of phenomenological descriptions in casual and scientific interpretations; second, experience-related and reflective features of an act of creating a record, characteristic for both the researched and the researchers; third, the procedure of mapping written autobiographical records with the use of concept maps. These issues are presented in the article in relation to sociological and non-sociological literature, as social grounding of writing acts crosses disciplinary boundaries. Flexibility, openness, and simplicity of the mapping procedure make both theorists and practitioners from outside the university milieu aware of present possibilities of describing the grounding of human experience in multi-tier but ordered spheres of everyday life.

    Opis:
    The creator of the meaningful learning theory ‒ D. Ausubel – understands the learning process as creating cognitive schemas by implementing new cognitive representations to the schemas of prior knowledge. He distinguished traditional approaches to school learning, which is learning by heart, from meaningful learning, that is learning with understanding. According to Ausubel, the effectiveness of learning depends on advanced ways of organizing the content that facilitates learning with understanding. Such learning allows for quick recalling the acquired declarative knowledge and placing it in the structure of readily available information. Concept maps by Novak are graphic tools for organizing and representing knowledge, the theory of which originated from Ausubel’s Meaningful Learning Theory.
    Twórca teorii znaczącego uczenia się ze zrozumieniem – D. Ausubel – rozumie proces uczenia się jako tworzenie schematów poznawczych poprzez implementację nowych reprezentacji poznawczych do schematów wiedzy uprzedniej. Odróżniał on tradycyjne podejścia do uczenia się szkolnego, jakim jest uczenie się na pamięć, od znaczącego uczenia się, tj. uczenia się ze zrozumieniem. Według Ausubela efektywność uczenia się zależy od zaawansowanych sposobów organizowania treści, które ułatwiają uczenie się ze zrozumieniem. Takie uczenie się pozwala na szybkie przywoływanie nabytej wiedzy deklaratywnej i ulokowanie jej w strukturze łatwo dostępnych wiadomości. Mapy konceptów (concept maps) autorstwa Novaka są narzędziami graficznymi do organizowania i reprezentowania wiedzy. Ich teoria wyrosła z teorii znaczącego uczenia się Ausubela.

    Opis:
    The answer to the question whether teaching of geography nowadays respects the universal ideas of the great geographer, is not clear. A critical look at teaching achievements of Wacław Nałkowski, as well as at the contemporary state of geographical teaching, seems to be difficult due to the individual views and personal experiences. This paper is an attempt to assess the extent to which the important educational concepts of Nałkowski are respected in contemporary educational practice. The author particularly emphasizes the idea of geography as a synoptic field, which was to integrate the arts and the sciences, the „rationality” principle in geography, the views of Nałkowski concerning the use of maps, and the role and shape of geographical handbooks. In conclusion it was ascertained that the guiding principles of teaching geography, which were developed by Nałkowski and introduced by him to educational practice, today are mainly plain postulates. Although these principles did not lost their validity, what is confirmed by numerous authors, educational practice, form and content of geographical textbooks still deviate from Nałkowski’s recommendations. Also in geographical education at academic level many educational ideas of Nałkowski are not implemented.
