    Opis:
    The parish of Korczew was probably established as early as in the 13th century. Over the several centuries of its existence it often changed its administrative jurisdiction, both secular and ecclesiastical. In the secular administrative system, until the Partitioning of Poland it belonged to Sieradz voivodeship. The greatest changes took place after II Partition of Poland in 1973 in the Prussian sector and after the creation of the Congress Kingdom of Poland in 1815, when Korczew parish found itself in the Russion sector. At that time it belonged to Kalisz voivodeship, renamed in 1837 as gubernya. Since the end of World War I (except for the years 1975–1998, when it belonged to Sieradz voivodeship) it has been part of Łódź voivodeship. In the church administration system, the main change was in 1818, when it left Gniezno archdiocese and was incorporated in Włocławek diocese, to which it belongs to this day.

    W niniejszym artykule analizujemy wpływ kapitału społecznego na procesy integracji miasta Opola w kontekście przyłączonych doń miejscowości 1 stycznia 2017 roku. Głównymi metodami zastosowanymi w pracy jest analiza danych zastanych oraz treści internetowych. Dodatkowo stan instytucjonalnego kapitału społecznego w Opolu został zaprezentowany przy wykorzystaniu analizy SWOT. Przeprowadzone badania pozwalają ocenić stan instytucjonalnego kapitału społecznego jako dobry, dowiedziono również, że instytucje, które w 2017 roku zostały wcielone w strukturę miasta Opola, w jawny sposób nie rozpowszechniają treści, które mogłyby prowadzić do dezintegracji miasta. Fakty te wraz z innymi obserwacjami potwierdzają tezę o dobrych warunkach instytucjonalnego kapitału społecznego do integrowania mieszkańców Opola.
    This article analyzes the impact of social capital on the integration processes of the city of Opole in the context of the towns connected to it on January 1, 2017. The main methods used in the work are the analysis of existing data and Internet content. Additionally, the state of institutional social capital in Opole was presented using the SWOT analysis. The conducted research allows to assess the condition of institutional social capital as good, it has also been proved that institutions that were incorporated into the structure of the city of Opole in 2017 do not openly disseminate content that could lead to the disintegration of the city. These facts, together with other observations, confirm the thesis about good conditions for institutional social capital to integrate the inhabitants of Opole.

    Opis:
    This article is a comparative analysis of biographies of the two women. One of them lives in Elk, Poland and the other in Swiecionys, Lithuania. Both of them live in the areas where came from their ancestors, from generation to generation. Both of them were born in the 20’s of the 20th century in the villages situated nearby the towns they are currently living, however their homes used to be in different countries than nowadays. Before the World War 2, both Vilnius Region and Eastern Prussia were multicultural, multilingual and multi-denominational with one major religion, to which followers belonged both characters of the analysed biographies. Local customs of different provenance were characteristic for the whole village, irrespectively of its inhabitants’ identities. The end of World War 2 and the change of the borders became a traumatic experience for young at that time girls. They were forced to make difficult decisions, to choose their state and their nationality, to decide about their personal life and about separation from their close family. The both women were not involved in the war, neither military nor politically. However, they both were afflicted by political decisions made by the victors of the war, which were the consequences of the actions of those who started that war. The sense of identity of ordinary people living in multicultural areas, which are changing their statehood in different historical periods, is very complex and difficult. The aim of this article is to show the factors which can influence on national and cultural identity of ordinary people living in areas, where the statehood has changed.

    Opis:
    Borders have always reflected the state of relations between neighboring countries and were an image of a given era. They are sensitive barometers of changes taking place in an international environment and usually respond to these changes the most quickly. Since the borders ceased functioning only in a territorial dimension and entered a spatial level, they have been defined as mobile borders, vacillating borders and smart borders. Nowadays, countries can conclude agreements on border cooperation even though they do not share a common border. This is due to an emergence of many new transborder threats that require cooperation to combat them. The aim of the article is to indicate changes in the nature of contemporary borders in relation to the factors determining these challenges. Two types of determinants are distinguished: long-term trends and turning points that have had an impact on an essence of modern borders. There are several phenomena such as globalization, integration of the European Union, migrations and terrorist attacks, to mention a few. Each determinant is related to the border and its change. The author applied factor analysis in the article.
    Las fronteras siempre han reflejado la calidad de las relaciones entre los países vecinos y constituían la imagen de una época determinada. Son barómetros sensibles de los cambios que tienen lugar en el entorno internacional y generalmente responden a estos cambios más rápidamente. Desde que las fronteras dejaron de cumplir sus funciones solo en la dimensión territorial y también entraron al nivel espacial, se las define como fronteras móviles, fronteras vacilantes o fronteras inteligentes. En la actualidad, los Estados concluyen acuerdos relacionados con sus fronteras, incluso si no comparten una frontera común. Esto se debe, entre otros, por causa de la aparición de muchas nuevas amenazas transfronterizas que requieren cooperación para combatirlas. El objetivo del artículo es indicar la dinámica de las fronteras contemporáneas en relación con los factores que determinan sus propiedades. Se han especificado dos tipos de determinantes: tendencias a largo plazo y puntos de inflexión, los cuales tienen el mayor impacto en las características de las fronteras contemporáneas. Estos determinantes incluyen varios fenómenos como la globalización, la integración de la Unión Europea, las migraciones y los ataques terroristas, entre otros. Cada uno de los determinantes ha sido caracterizado por separado en relación con su impacto sobre las fronteras. La autora aplicó el análisis factorial en el artículo.
