Opis:
Abstract Methane production from natural gas hydrates will enable the reduction of a great part of natural gas import deliveries and to give up them completely in the future. Gas hydrate technologies compared with existing ones, also gives the possibility to transport gas, divide gas and liquid mixtures, concentrate water solutions, utilize and store СО2, etc. with greater efficiency. However, methane production technologies have not developed industrially and their study was performed with the help of experimental units and in separate gas hydrates deposits in the mode of tests and elaborations. The prospects of the hydrate technologies development in the Ukraine were determined: transportation of natural gas in the form of hydrates, long-term storage of natural gas in hydrate state, natural gas production from its hydrate deposits. Positive international experience in terms of the development of hydrate technology is studied. In order to study formation and dissociation hydrates of carbon dioxide and natural gas components, Gas Institute have made hydrate stand facility. The express method of determining thermodynamic and kinetic parameters of hydrate transformation was tested. Natural gas hydrates as well as carbon dioxide hydrates were produced with the help of the express method. It was determined that the composition of original natural gas and gas of hydrates decomposition is of great difference – it means that “selective” hydrates formation of natural gas formation is performed.A set of experiments was also performed to study the process of methane replacement with the help of carbon dioxide. According to the gaseous phase analysis, 14% increase of methane content was fixed. This fact proves its replacement in hydrates with the help of carbon dioxide.

Opis:
Stosowanie najlepszych dostępnych technik (BAT) w projektowaniu i realizacji instalacji i obiektów energetycznych gwarantuje PGE Elektrowni Bełchatów SA wypełnianie wszystkich norm ochrony środowiska, zarówno krajowych, jak i Unii Europejskiej. Elektrownia Bełchatów rozpoczęła w 2007 roku realizację kompleksowego programu modernizacji bloków 3-12, który zakończy się w roku 2013. Przeprowadzane modernizacje bloków energetycznych umożliwią istotne zmniejszenie emisji zanieczyszczeń, głównie tlenków azotu oraz gazów cieplarnianych, w szczególności dwutlenku węgla do atmosfery. Kontynuacją rozwoju niskoemisyjnych technologii węglowych w PGE Elektrowni Bełchatów SA jest prowadzenie od roku 2007 prac badawczych i przygotowawczych do zabudowy instalacji wychwytywania, transportu oraz geologicznego składowania dwutlenku węgla (ang. CCS - carbon dioxide capture and storage) dla bloku 858 MW. Instalacja demonstracyjna "post combustion" usuwania CO2 ze spalin bloku energetycznego 858 MW wykonana zostanie w technologii zaawansowanych amin i będzie wychwytywała CO2 ze spalin w ilości ok. 2,1 mln ton CO2 rocznie. Realizacja projektu umożliwi zdobycie niezbędnej wiedzy inżynierskiej i doświadczenia w zakresie projektowania, budowy i eksploatacji instalacji CCS, a następnie optymalizację i komercjalizację tych instalacji. PGE Elektrownia Bełchatów SA czyni starania o zakwalifikowanie się do Europejskiego Programu Demonstracyjnego CCS.
The application of the best available techniques (BAT) in design and construction of the plant and all the power generation facilities guarantees the compliance with all the environment protection standards, both the national ones and the EU ones. In 2007 the Bełchatów Power Plant started the implementation of a comprehensive modernization and refurbishment programme of units no. 3-12, which will end in the year 2013. The modernizations will reduce considerably the emission of pollutants, especially nitrogen oxides and such greenhouse gases as carbon dioxide. Since 2007 the development of the low emission carbon technologies in PGE Elektrownia Bełchatów SA has resulted in the ongoing research and preparatory works on the construction of a CCS plant fully integrated into the 858 MW unit. The demonstration post combustion CO2 capture plant of the 858 MW unit will be based on the advanced amine technology. It will capture yearly around 2.1 million tons of CO2 from flue gases. The project execution will enable Company to obtain both the necessary engineering knowledge and experience in the design, construction and operation of CCS plant, and subsequently - their optimization and future commercial use. PGE Elektrownia Bełchatów SA has endeavoured to get qualified to the EU CCS Demonstration Programme.

Cement sheath serves primarily as a zonal isolation for the life of the well while protecting and supporting the casing. Nowadays, more and more solutions in the term of different cement slurries compositions appear on the market. One of them is application of fluid ashes as an alternative substitution of cement itself. The purpose of it is to overcome a challenging environment where a high concentration of corrosive gases or fluids exist. An example of that aggressive substance is carbon dioxide. Moreover, this is how it might reduce the cost of the cementing process. Laboratory research was conducted at the Drilling, Oil and Gas Faculty and Materials Science and Ceramics Faculty at AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow.

Opis:
The objective of this paper is to define the main approaches to the implementation of carbon dioxide sequestration technologies in the oil and gas industry in Russia, and also to identify ecological, economic and social issues of their usage. Promotion of the technology of carbon dioxide (CO2) sequestration by means of capturing and injecting it into underground reservoirs is a promising mechanism of reducing carbon dioxide concentration. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies might be used to enhance oil recovery (EOR-CO2) and production by means of oil extraction and decreasing oil viscosity. Conceptual view of the potential of EOR-СО2 technologies within the context of oil and gas industry sustainable development are presented. Incentives of the CCS projects implementation are identified. On the basis of the conducted research a number of scientific research and practical areas of the CCS technology development are presented.

Opis:
Three commercially available intercooled compression strategies for compressing CO2 were studied. All of the compression concepts required a final delivery pressure of 153 bar at the inlet to the pipeline. Then, simulations were used to determine the maximum safe pipeline distance to subsequent booster stations as a function of inlet pressure, environmental temperature, thickness of the thermal insulation and ground level heat flux conditions. The results show that subcooled liquid transport increases energy efficiency and minimises the cost of CO2 transport over long distances under heat transfer conditions. The study also found that the thermal insulation layer should not be laid on the external surface of the pipe in atmospheric conditions in Poland. The most important problems from the environmental protection point of view are rigorous and robust hazard identification which indirectly affects CO2 transportation. This paper analyses ways of reducing transport risk by means of safety valves.

Opis:
The paper deals with numerical modelling of carbon dioxide capture by amine solvent from flue gases in post-combustion technology. A complex flow system including a countercurrent two-phase flow in a porous region, chemical reaction and heat transfer is considered to resolve CO2 absorption. In order to approach the hydrodynamics of the process a two-fluid Eulerian model was applied. At the present stage of model development only the first part of the cycle, i.e. CO2 absorption was included. A series of parametric simulations has shown that carbon dioxide capture efficiency is mostly influenced by the ratio of liquid (aqueous amine solution) to gas (flue gases) mass fluxes. Good consistency of numerical results with experimental data acquired at a small-scale laboratory CO2 capture installation (at the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal, Zabrze, Poland) has proved the reliability of the model.
