Katechizm Kościoła Katolickiego w punkcie 737 zawiera informację o kluczowej roli Ducha Świętego, który nie tylko „przygotowuje ludzi”, ale ponadto „uprzedza ich swoją łaską, aby pociągnąć ich do Chrystusa”. Trzecia Osoba Trójcy Świętej pełni zatem istotną rolę dla zaistnienia oraz rozwoju wiary człowieka. Wymienione zagadnienie w swoim przepowiadaniu rozwijał podczas blisko 18-letniej posługi w Archidiecezji Lwowskiej Kardynał Marian Jaworski. Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje najważniejsze zagadnienia dotyczące roli Ducha Świętego w kształtowaniu i rozwoju wiary. Analiza materiału empirycznego pozwoliła na podział odnalezionych odniesień w dwóch grupach. Pierwsza dotyczy Ducha Świętego, który jest „Duszą Kościoła”. Druga koncentruje się wokół pojęcia Trzeciej Osoby Trójcy, która warunkuje i jest źródłem poznania Boga.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church in point 737 mentions the essential role of the Holy Spirit, who not only “prepares men” but also “goes out to them with his grace, in order to draw them to Christ.” Therefore, the Third Person of the Holy Trinity plays an essential role for development of human faith. The above-mentioned issue was developed by Cardinal Marian Jaworski during his almost 18 years pastoral service in the Archdiocese of Lviv – Ukraine. This article presents the most important issues regarding the role of the Holy Spirit in developing human faith. The analysis of material made it possible to divide the references into two groups. The first concerns the Holy Spirit, who is “the Soul of the Church”. The second focuses on the concept of the Third Person of the Trinity, who is the source of knowing God.

The author reflects on the problem of social transformation in terms of receiving and classifying humor, as shown by the example of disappearing lyrical species called ‘trifle’. In his view, contemporary Polish poetry (and, in fact, all world literature) avoids decidedly satirical and humorous forms. Poetry is domi-nated by discreet and mixed humor, such as black humor, irony, pure-nonsense, mockery, persiflage, derision, grotesque. The analysis is based on poetry by the artists of three generations: Tadeusz Rozewicz, Bohdan Zadura and Krzysztof Jaworski.

The poetry of Bohdan Ihor Antonych (1909–1937), a Ukrainian writer born in Lemkivshchyna near Gorlice, attracted Kazimierz Andrzej Jaworski’s attention with its fairy-tale qualities, a feeling of unreality and idealization of the world. From three collections of poems, Welcome to Life (1931), Three Rings (1934) and Book of the Lion (1936), varying in terms of their subject matter, the translator from Lublin chose works which reveal youthful joy of life and optimism Lemkivshchyna endowed their author with. Jaworski devoted most attention to the poems from The Green Gospel collection (1938), reflecting the essence of Antonych’s poetry, in which nature becomes religion. Jaworski was inclined to select works which were close to his own poems, e.g. from The Tatras and I cycle and the collection On a Granite Mast (1920). In the Polish version of Antonych’s poems, the translator’s interference is clearly noticeable. Jaworski does not fully rely on the original; he often introduces certain transformations within lines or stanzas as well as additions and semantic equivalents which are far from the Ukrainian version. This could result from his personal observations on nature, which he admired. It could also be caused by the difficulties of translation ensuing from linguistic complexities, as Antonych had the remarkable ability to represent complex images in a few lines. He achieved it through an appropriate choice of words and metaphorical constructions, which often prove to be challenging for the translator. Kazimierz Andrzej Jaworski was one of the first Polish translators who faced this task. As early as in the 1930s, he familiarized Polish readers with a few poems of the Lemko poet who lived and wrote in the period when Polish-Ukrainian coexistence within the borders of one country was being shaped.

Artykuł dotyczy postaci lwowskiego historyka, antykwariusza, kolekcjonera, dziennikarza, publicysty Franciszka Jaworskiego (1873–1914). Jego prace poświęcone polskim pierścieniom historycznym z lat 1911–1913 są pierwszymi, które dokumentują te przedmioty, pochodzące z końca XVIII stulecia i z wieku XIX. Zwłaszcza praca o pierścieniach powstała w 1913 roku wywarła znaczący wpływ na późniejsze piśmiennictwo poświęcone polskiej biżuterii. Jej autor był pierwszym badaczem postrzegającym pierścień jako ważny obiekt historyczny, dokument kultury minionych czasów, na pozór tylko przedmiot drobny, pozbawiony znaczenia. Zabytki zebrane w pracy Pierścienie historyczne polskie podzielił Jaworski na grupy uporządkowane chronologicznie. Cztery najstarsze pierścienie odnosiły się do schyłku Rzeczypospolitej, a pozostałe 114 wiązały się z osobami i wydarzeniami XIX wieku (ostatni z pierścieni pochodził z 1894 roku). Typologia pierścieni wprowadzona przez Franciszka Jaworskiego stała się ważna dla późniejszych systematyzacji polskiej biżuterii. Choć była to grupa dzieł przygodnie przez niego zebranych, stała się dla kolejnych generacji podstawą do wyodrębnienia nowej kategorii biżuterii, znanej dziś jako „biżuteria patriotyczna”. Z tego powodu Franciszka Jaworskiego należy traktować jako pierwszego ich historiografa, który swoim opracowaniem zwrócił uwagę na potrzebę badań na tym nierozpoznanym polu.
The article concerns the figure of Franciszek Jaworski (1873–1914), a historian, antiquarian, collector, journalist, and journalist from Lviv. His works on Polish historical rings from 1911–1913 are the first to document these items from the end of the 18th century and the 19th century. Especially the work on rings, written in 1913, had a significant impact on the subsequent literature on Polish jewelry. Its author was the first researcher to perceive the ring as an important historical object, a document of the culture of bygone times, seemingly only a small, meaningless object. The items collected in the work Historical Polish Rings were divided by Jaworski into groups arranged chronologically. The four oldest rings related to the decline of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the remaining 114 were related to people and events of the 19th century (the last of the rings was from 1894). The ring typology introduced by Franciszek Jaworski became important for the subsequent systematization of Polish jewelry. Although it was a group of works accidentally collected by him, it became a basis for the next generations to distinguish a new category of jewelry, known today as “patriotic jewellery”. For this reason, Franciszek Jaworski should be treated as the first historiographer who drew attention to the need for research in this unrecognized field with his study.

This article looks at Professor Stanisław Jaworski’s contribution to the development of textual criticism in Poland. It was his book I write, therefore I am that offered Polish readers a comprehensive and erudite introduction to French genetic and textual criticism. Published in 1993, it set this enormously important critical movement in the broader perspective of cultural and literary anthropology. The second part of the article examines the impact of this book on Polish studies into the processes of text creation and the ‘avant-textes’. The third, fi nal part surveys the late Professor Jaworski’s role in organizing conferences and stimulating debate on all aspects of genetic criticism.

This article presents a profi le of Stanisław Jaworski as a literary scholar with a life-long involvement in avant-garde literature. He defi nes the avant-garde as a mosaic of diverse trends with no common aesthetic or ideological denominator and, at the same time, as a transcultural network of artists apparently unrelated artists. Focusing on his major studies (Foundations of the Avant-garde, Tadeusz Peiper: Writer and Theoretician, Between the Avant-garde and Surrealism, and The Avant-garde) the article reconstructs Jaworski’s insights and theoretical constructs in the context of contemporary network studies and reassesses his commitment to both history and theory of literature.

In the Poetry of Philosophers anthology (Kraków–Wrocław 1984) Wit Jaworski published 221 works by 114 authors, starting with Tales from Milet to John Paul II. Almost all known philosophers composed poetry, which often complemented their philosophical reflections or concepts. The list of names also includes Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz, who wrote poems from his youth until his death, although at the same time regretting that he had no poetic talent and used some of his works in his dramas as examples of a graphomaniac’s work. Many poems have a humorous and parodical, which brings them closer to his numerous grotesque drawings. They were collected and published by Anna Micińska in an album entitled Wistość tych rzeczy jest nie z świata tego (Kraków 1977), illustrated by Urszula Kenar. In the anthology, under the name of Witkiewicz, there is a poem which begins with words: “Otom jest zwyciężony/ Ginę zgubą wszelkiego żywego stworzenia”. There is no doubt that this is the beginning of the third stanza of the well-known poem by Czesław Miłosz entitled St. Ign. Witkiewicz, published in the volume Ocalenie (Warsaw 1945). Is it an unfortunate mistake on the part of the author of the anthology, a seasoned critic and experienced editor, or is it his fortune to confuse the censor, who did not allow Miłosz’s texts to be published and thus to “smuggle” his poem in under the guise of Witkiewicz? The puzzle remains unresolved. The mistake is inscribed in the history of Witkacy’s so-called “dodges”, which he did to his friends and acquaintances, and then to those who dealt with his life and work. To attribute to him the authorship of Miłosz’s excellent work would certainly make him happy.
