The paper contains a comparative analysis of the competences needed to practice engineering in Poland and the United States (USA). Surveys of industries were conducted in Poland and the USA. Legal background of curricula was discussed. The surveys were done for the purpose of assessing the importance of competences as well as level of mastery those skills and attributes by engineering graduates. The results confirm differences in approach of entrepreneurs to graduates of engineering studies in Poland and the USA. In the USA entrepreneurs have higher expectations and the importance of individual competences is also different. The comparative analysis was done to identify the weaknesses in the engineering curricula and identifying the best practices.

Modern economy requires graduates to possess particular competences, not only those associated with knowledge and skills emerging from the particular course of studies. The subject matter of the present paper contributes to the discussion on shaping university graduates’ vocational competences. The objective of the study was to identify expectations of employers who employ graduates of fiance and accounting studies with regard to their finess for employment. The analysis encompassed required competences and areas defied by employers as additional qualifiations. As the results of the study, the practical recommendations for students of economics were formulated.
Współczesna gospodarka oczekuje od absolwentów szczególnych kompetencji związanych nie tylko z wiedzą i umiejętnościami wynikającymi z ukończenia danego kierunku studiów. Problematyka prezentowanego opracowania wpisuje się w dyskusję nad kształtowaniem kompetencji zawodowych absolwentów szkół wyższych. Celem badań była identyfiacja oczekiwań pracodawców zatrudniających absolwentów kierunku fianse i rachunkowość wobec kandydatów do pracy. Analizie poddano wymagane kompetencje oraz te obszary, które pracodawcy oceniali jako dodatkowe kwalifiacje. Dzięki przeprowadzonym badaniom opracowano rekomendacje praktyczne dla studentów kierunków ekonomicznych w zakresie zapotrzebowania pracodawców na kompetencje absolwentów.

The aim of the current study is to examine the program of pronunciation training and its implementation from a new perspective, which is that of MA graduates. The data were obtained from 65 graduates of the Faculty of English at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań by means of an online survey. The research questions posed in the study explore the matter of taught models and varieties of English, materials, teaching, and opinions regarding the accent the participants received. By providing a new perspective on the teaching and learning of pronunciation the study might help university teachers to enhance the pronunciation courses in their institutions.

Department of Industrial & Production Engineering started its glorious journey from 2006 in Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology. Since then approximately 250 students graduated and continuously enhancing the global quality of the department through leading discovery and innovation. Despite their shines in career, some problems come their way and make them realize that they should be more careful about them in their University life. In order to get the regarding information, we surveyed about 100 graduates of IPE from different series. They are now working in different sectors with a different designation. Their experience about their career life will help us to find out the problems faced by the fresh IPE graduates as well as it will help us to solve the problems in our University life. We analyzed the data & build methodology through the brainstorming process & finally achieved our result. This will provide a way to overcome the problems faced by the fresh IPE graduates in their initial career.

The transition of university graduates in the 21st century from the stage of education to employment seems to be one of the most complex and difficult processes taking place at the labour market. The transition paths of people who finish studies in individual countries are mainly an effect of differences in economic level and economy conditions, social and cultural disparities and system differences, including the teaching systems. The efficiency of this process, apart from demographic and macroeconomic trends is influenced by accumulation of "career capital" especially the ability of transferring skills enquired in higher education into potential and real workplaces, individual and personal features, such as: aspirations, adaptability. The purpose of this paper is to present the determinants influencing the successful transition of graduates into the labor. The empirical research results based on theoretical considerations exemplify the influence of selected determinants, belonging to the group of educational capital, on the pace and nature of the transition to the labor market in the European countries and among the geography graduates in Poland.

Background: The Bicol University identifies if gender equity is an issue among its graduates. Purpose and Research Objectives: The study sought to identify if there is a relationship between the Bicol University graduates’ gender and their scholastic circumstances and employment/ employment-relevant setting. Sample and Research Design: The study used the 622 questionnaires retrieved in the original research and employed secondary analysis as its research strategy Results: This study found out that gender among the graduates of Bicol University seems to have a bearing on the course they took in college, their present employment and their present occupation. On the other hand, sex appears not to have an influence on the honors they received in college, the reason for taking the college course, their present professional skills, their place of work, the relation of the college course to their first job, the length of time in finding job and the job level. Scholastic performance in college seems not be influenced by sex. The latter also does not have any bearing on the reasons why these graduates took the courses they had in college. Recommendation: Managers in colleges and universities, and the industries may find in these findings some basis for making decisions vis-a-vis male and female Bicol University graduates.

W artykule zaproponowano kategoryzację polskich uczelni akademickich, która wykorzystuje dwa wybrane syntetyczne wskaźniki wyznaczane w ogólnopolskim systemie monitorowania ekonomicznych losów absolwentów. Kombinacje wartości tych wskaźników pozwalają na wyodrębnienie kategorii uczelni, których absolwenci są w różny sposób oceniani przez pracodawców. Przedstawiono wyniki kategoryzacji uczelni według ich przynależności do konferencji rektorów poszczególnych typów uczelni. Analiza wyników wskazuje, że istotny wpływ na uzyskane kategorie (a więc na ekonomiczne losy przeciętnego absolwenta) ma przynależność do określonego typu uczelni.
The article proposes a categorization of Polish universities using two selected composite indicators from the national system for monitoring the professional careers of graduates. These two indicators combined make it possible to distinguish different categories of universities depending on how their graduates are evaluated by employers. The results of this categorization are presented divided according to the affiliation of various kinds of universities to their respective Rectors’ Conferences. The analysis of the findings reveals that attending a specific type of university has a significant impact on the professional careers of graduates.

All research identifying the issue of occupational competence among university graduates in Poland should pay an important role in the process of planning the educational system. That demand is connected with the assumption that there is a direct connection between the educational offers of Polish universities and the main labour market indexes. Regardless of the commonly discussed strength of that connection, it should be claimed that the area of research practice is full of competitive methodology. The variety of research attitudes raises some vagueness in the interpretation of the results of generalization about the graduates’ population. Research presented herein is based on the graduates’ personal opinions about the possibility of acquisition of occupational competence (during their studies) in the context of employers’ actual expectations. The research sample consists of Polish employed graduates of private economic universities in Wrocław and its regions.

This article presents the contemporary challenges faced by universities. It focuses on the traditional and the modern approach to the University maintaining relations with their socio-economic environment. These relationships are described in the framework of the social network theory. The second part presented an innovative model of education ideAGORA, the concept of lifelong learning based of a lasting relationship between university and graduate. The results of evaluations carried out after the stage of testing the ideAGORA model demonstrated its high efficiency: it contributes to strengthening alumni’s ties with the University, the sincerity of their motivation to study and activity as well as the interest in additional training in the case of graduates and academic staff.

The main aim of the article is to analyse expectations of entrepreneurs in the recruitment process of vocational schools graduates representing three countries: Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. Questionnaire survey conducted in 2016 is confirming that the most crucial elements to which employers are paying attention at seeking the employee are the experience of the candidate and the ability to constantly learn and improve. Moreover, the most desired skills in the view of employers are communicativeness, self-reliance, teamwork and organisational skills. One should emphasise there is a competence discrepancy between companies representing the analysed countries. An example can be the level of ICT skills and knowledge of foreign languages. Potential employers from Poland and Latvia agreed that the candidate for work does not have to be fluent in another language, for example, English. A communicative level in their point of view is sufficient.

The aim of the study is to examine the difference in the change of anxiety level and of success hope in 6 months prior to leaving exam between groups with different styles of coping with stress. It is assumed that during this period the level of anxiety and hope will change depending on the preferred style of coping. In order to verify the hypotheses a group of 144 high school graduates was tested. The first survey took place 6 months and the other 14 days before final exams. The following tests were used: CISS, STAI, KNS. The results of this study indicate that the overall level of anxiety has increased in the research group and this increase was greatest in the emotions-focused group. However, the level of success hope significantly decreased in the group favoring task-oriented style. There were no significant changes observed in the level of success hope in the remaining groups.
