The general aim of the paper is to indicate the key role played by banks in Schumpeterian innovative evolution. Moreover this paper studies an impact of innovations in financial sphere of modified Debreu monetary economy on its real sector and, specifically, on social welfare. W artykule przeprowadzono symulację toru lotu oraz procesu penetracji przez strzałę wystrzeloną z łuku angielskiego, płyty stalowej imitującej zbroję średniowiecznego rycerza ciężkiej jazdy, stosowaną podczas bitwy pod Crécy, która rozegrała się 26 sierpnia 1346 roku. Bitwa ta stanowiła przełom i ugruntowała, na prawie 200 lat, szczególną rolę w taktyce i sposobie użycia na polu walki łuku angielskiego, do czasu wprowadzenia do powszechnego użycia broni palnej w postaci arkebuza czy muszkietu. Podstawowe parametry techniczne, niezbędne do procesu symulacji uzyskano na podstawie informacji ze źródeł historycznych. Na podstawie obliczeń numerycznych wyznaczono parametry toru lotu strzały z grotem „przeciwpancernym” do maksymalnej do-nośności. Dzięki zastosowaniu metody elementów skończonych (AUTODYN), oszacowano zdolność penetracji zbroi XIV-wiecznego jeźdźca przez strzałę wystrzeloną z łuku angielskiego.
The paper presents simulation of flight path of an arrow shot with a longbow and its penetration process through a steel plate imitating an armor of a medieval heavy cavalry knights used during the Battle of Crécy on 26 August, 1346. The battle was a turning moment which had settled the specific role of the English bow in tactics and methods of its deployment on battle fields for almost 200 years until the fire-arms such as arquebuses or muskets started to be commonly used. The basic technical parameters necessary for the simulation process are based on historical information. On the basis of numerical calculations, the parameters of the flight path of the arrow with the "anti-armor" head were determined up to the maximum range. Thanks to use of the finite element method (AUTODYN) the penetration capacity of the arrow shot from longbow against horseman’s armor of XIV century was estimated.

Opis:
Time is absolute in standard quantum theory and dynamical in general relativity. The combination of both theories into a theory of quantum gravity leads therefore to a “problem of time”. In my essay, I investigate those consequences for the concept of time that may be drawn without a detailed knowledge of quantum gravity. The only assumptions are the experimentally supported universality of the linear structure of quantum theory and the recovery of general relativity in the classical limit. Among the consequences are the fundamental timelessness of quantum gravity, the approximate nature of a semiclassical time, and the correlation of entropy with the size of the Universe.

In the Schumpeterian vision of economic development economic evolution is based on the innovative activities of producers and evolutionary changes in the production sphere realized through credits created by banks from savings. The possibility of innovative changes in the demand sphere and the active role of consumers in innovative processes are neglected. Hence the main aim of this paper is an extension of the previous results obtain in the formal modelling of Schumpeter’s theory through the axiomatical analysis of innovative changes in the consumer in the formal apparatus of the modern Arrow-Debreu theory of general equilibrium.

This paper explores nostalgic memories from an unconventional perspective and their complex relationship with parallel universes. The arrow of time is not necessarily linear, and nostalgic memories pertaining to the past or the future, be it in this world or in parallel universes, could be accessed in various states of consciousness. Whatever is inside (in the internal environment of an individual) is outside (in the external environment), which is in line with esoteric teachings and individualistic experiences. The Indian concept of Maya (illusion) that applies to the material world, acts as a hindrance to experiencing Brahman or the ultimate Truth. Until one is able to perceive the infinitely connected universe in all its gigantic underlying unity, it may be posited that nostalgic memories exist in parallel universes.

The aim of the paper is to reconstruct the Senian idea of development as a growing range of freedoms in the research program of modelling Schumpeterian evolutionary economics in the dynamical version of the Arrow-Debreu general equilibrium theory. In the context of the Schumpeterian circular flow freedom of choice of consumers and producers is studied in both qualitative and quantitative setting. The static results presented in the form of mathematical theorems are generalized by use of the theory of quasi-semi-dynamical systems, where cumulative extension of economic systems under consideration is preserved over time and models a growing range of freedoms as well as their quality.

W artykule zaprezentowano, strzały, groty, i typową kuszę oraz zalety tej broni, a także zagrożenia, jakie powodować może jej użycie. Zamieszczono wyniki badań balistyki przejściowej i zewnętrznej. Przedstawiono efekty oddziaływania strzał (bełtów) wystrzeliwanych z kuszy na pakiet balistyczny, odporny na ostrzał 7,62 mm pociskami TT (klasa K2 zgodnie z PN-V-87000: 2011) oraz tory lotu tych bełtów podczas strzelania w terenie. Przytoczone zostały akty prawne, które regulują zasady posiadania i używania kusz w Polsce.
The paper presents advantages of a typical crossbow and arrows and arrow-heads with threats of its use. The results of tests for transitional and external ballistics are included. The effects of interaction between the arrows projected from the crossbow and the ballistic block that is resistant against 7.62 mm rounds fired from TT gun (class K2 according to PN-V-87000:2011) and the trajectories of arrows in the open range are also presented. Legal regulations that govern the ownership and use of crossbows in Poland are included.

Oryginalnym osiągnięciem pracy jest przedstawienie metody diagnostycznej znajdującej zastosowanie w ocenie wytrzymałości złączy klejonych stosowanych w łączeniu szyby z konstrukcją nośną pojazdu lub budynku. Metoda ta pozwala na wyznaczenie maksymalnej wartości strzałki ugięcia lub kąta skręcenia, przy której następuje inicjacja uszkodzenia złącza klejonego. Badania realizowane były na maszynach wytrzymałościowych z zastosowaniem próbek o oryginalnej postaci.
The original achievement of the presentation is the diagnostic method used in assessing the strength of the adhesive joints used in connecting the pane to the vehicle or building support structure. This method allows to determine the maximum value of the deflection arrow or the angle of twist at which initiation of glue joint failure initiates. The research is carried out on endurance machines using samples of original design.

The arrow of time problem belongs to the most discussed questions of the contemporary philosophy of physics. Some aspects of this problem are discussed in this paper in the context of Henry Mehlberg's philosophical views. Mehlberg devoted a significant part of his work to the enigma of time. He argues that all major empirical theories are invariant with respect to time reversal. In the present paper, the difference between temporal isotropy as expressed in the everyday language and in scientific theories is first presented, then Mehlberg's arguments on behalf of temporal symmetry are analyzed and, finally, some philosophical implications of arrowless time are discussed.

The Dirac equation consistent with the principles of quantum mechanics and the special theory of relativity, introduces a set of matrices combined with the wave function of a particle in motion to give rise to the relativistic energy-momentum relation. In this paper a new hypothesis, the wave function of a particle in motion is associated with a pair of complementary waves is proposed. This hypothesis gives rise to the same relativistic energy-momentum relation and achieves results identical to those of Dirac. Additionally, both the energy-time and momentum-position uncertainty relations are derived from the complementary wave interpretation. How the complementary wave interpretation of the Dirac equation is related to the time-arrow and the four-vectors are also presented.

Artykuł jest próbą usystematyzowania i dodania pewnych wątków do dyskusji o sukcesie gospodarczym kalifornijskiej Doliny Krzemowej. W opracowaniu postawiona została teza mówiąca, że źródła owego sukcesu tkwią w skutecznym przezwycięzeniu trzech dobrze znanych w ekonomii problemów: dylematu innowatora, paradoksu Arrowa oraz kosztów transakcji. Jednoczeoenie używając koncepcji klastrów oraz konkretnego przykładu Doliny Krzemowej artykuł próbuje wykazać ograniczenia koncepcji gospodarki opartej na wiedzy.
The article makes an attempt to systematize and add some points to the discussion on the economic success of the California Silicon Valley. The paper argues that the source of its prosperity lies in successfully overcoming three well-known economic problems: the innovator’s dilemma, Arrow’s paradox, and transaction cost. At the same time, using the concept of clusters and the specific example of the Silicon Valley, the article seeks to demonstrate limits of the theory of knowledge-based economy.

Artykuł poświęcony jest tematyce sterowania ruchem drogowym w kontekście prawidłowego projektowania, opiniowania i zatwierdzania organizacji ruchu drogowego, w tym ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zasad i praktyk bezpieczeństwa użytkowników infrastruktury drogowej. Dogłębnie objaśniane są w nim aspekty formalno-prawne, wywodzące się z podstawowych przepisów ustawy Prawo o ruchu drogowym oraz aktów wykonawczych do tej ustawy. Zarówno projektanci, jak i organy zarządzające ruchem, mają duży dylemat interpretacyjny wielu układów faz sygnalizacyjnych. Świadczą o tym wyniki badań – aż 71% z poddanych analizie skrzyżowań zawierała błędy w zakresie stosowania sygnału dopuszczającego skręcanie w kierunku wskazanym strzałką. W artykule objaśniono możliwości stosowania poszczególnych sygnałów świetlnych na drogach, w szczególności problematykę związaną z tzw. „zieloną strzałką”. Wnikliwie scharakteryzowano mankamenty interpretacyjne dotyczące sterowania ruchem środków publicznego transportu zbiorowego, sterowania ruchem na przejściach dla pieszych oraz w „obszarze skrzyżowania”, w tym z wlotem drogi niepublicznej. Artykuł został podzielony na trzy części. Pierwsza z nich poświęcona jest podstawom prawnym sterowania ruchem drogowym w kraju, oraz charakterystyce zasad poruszania się uczestników ruchu drogowego w okresie kierowania ruchem za pomocą sygnalizacji świetlnej. Trzyczęściowy artykuł, jako całość, zwieńczą konkluzje autorów, które znajdą się w ostatniej jego części, wraz z zaleceniami zmian w ustawie Prawo o ruchu drogowym oraz aktów wykonawczych.
The paper is devoted to the issue of signal traffic control in the context of proper design, opinion, and approval of traffic organization, focusing on the safety principles and practices of road users. Formal and legal aspects derived from the basic provisions of the Act on Road Traffic and its executive acts are explained in depth. Both designers and traffic management authorities have a major dilemma about the interpretation of many signal phase systems. This is confirmed by the results of a study - as many as 71% of the analyzed intersections contained errors in the application of the signal allowing turning in the direction indicated by the “green arrow”. In the paper the possibilities of using individual traffic signals on roads and intersections, and the problems associated with the so-called “green arrow” in particular are explained. Interpretative shortcomings regarding the traffic control of public transport means, traffic control at pedestrian crossings and in the “intersection areas”, including the entrance of a non-public road are thoroughly characterized. The paper is divided into three parts. The first one is devoted to the legal basis of signal traffic control in Poland, and description of the rules of traffic participants’ movement in the conditions of traffic controlled by traffic lights. The three-part paper, as a whole, will be crowned by the authors' conclusions in the final part, along with recommendations for amendments to the Act on Road Traffic and executive acts.
