Low-frequency mechanical vibrations can trigger disasters such as coal-gas outbursts. An in-house “vibration-triaxial stress-seepage” experimental apparatus was used to measure the gas flow rate of rock specimens with varying vibrational frequency, gas pressure, and confining pressure. The results of these tests were then used to derive expressions that describe how the permeability of gas-containing coal rocks is related to these aforementioned factors. In addition, sensitivity coefficients were defined to characterise the magnitude of the permeability response to each permeability-affecting factor (i.e., vibrational frequency and gas pressure). The following insights were gained, regarding the effects of vibrational frequency on the permeability of gas-containing coal rocks: (1) If gas pressure and confining pressure are fixed, the permeability of gas-containing coal rocks rapidly increases, before gradually decreasing, with increasing vibrational frequency. Thus, the permeability of the gas-containing coal rock is always larger with vibrations than without. (2) If vibrational pressure and confining pressure are fixed, the relationship between the permeability of gas-containing coal rocks and gas pressure is consistent with the “Klinkenberg effect,” i.e., the permeability initially decreases, and then increases, with increasing gas pressure. (3) The change in permeability induced by each unit change in gas pressure is proportional to the gas pressure sensitivity coefficient. (4) The change in permeability induced by each unit change in vibrational frequency is proportional to the vibrational frequency sensitivity coefficient.

To study creep characteristics of deep rock masses under low-frequency earthquakes and other loads, sandstone and marble samples were used to characterize soft rock and hard rock, respectively. Shear creep tests of anchored rock masses under fatigue loading were carried out by using the graded loading method. A new nonlinear rheological model was constructed to characterize mechanical properties of anchored rock masses under fatigue loading. Creep fatigue curves of soft rock and hard rock have clear creep characteristics including instantaneous, attenuation, steady-state and accelerated creep stages. This work provides new insights into the stability of rock masses.

The research primarily aimed to observe the fibre structure of cotton stock fabric through a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Then, textile durability, appearance, and comfort were tested in line with the international standards organization’s (ISO) guidelines. For this, the storage time and a series of performance indicators including breaking strength, tensile strength, colour fastness to soap washing, colour fastness to dry rubbing as well as wet rubbing were evaluated, tested and analysed. Finally, through statistically analysing the data obtained, the limit value of the physical performance index and storage time of the fabrics were acquired, and further forming of the upcycling standards of cotton stock fabric. In this study, two cotton fabrics were selected, namely, natural-coloured cotton fabric (width 162 cm, weight 120.8 g/dm2, density 281 / 10 cm × 252 / 10 cm) and black-coloured cotton fabric (width 157 cm, weight 136.1 g/dm2, density 482 / 10 cm × 210 / 10 cm). The research experiments showed that when cotton stock fabrics were stored in a natural environment (temperature 20℃, humidity 65%), as the storage time increased, the surface yarns gradually began to loosen, with some loose yarns appearing on the surface. After 90 days the loosening intensified, and after 270 days the yarn looseness was obvious. After 330 days, a break in the fibrous structure on the surface of the natural-coloured cotton stock fabric could be observed. When natural-coloured cotton stock fabric was stored in a natural environment for 360 days, it lost 4.4% of its warp-breaking strength and 12.56% of its weft-breaking strength. For black cotton stock fabric, the figures were 5.66% and 20.54% for the warp-breaking and weft-breaking strength, respectively.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to propose a method to construct corneal biomechanical model which is the foundation for simulation of corneal microsurgery. Methods: Corneal material has two significant characteristics: hyperelastic and viscoelastic. Firstly, Mooney–Rivlin hyperelastic model of cornea obtained based on stored-energy function can be simplified as a linear equation with two unknown parameters. Then, modified Maxwell viscoelastic model of the cornea, whose analytical form is consistent with the generalized Prony-series model, is proposed from the perspective of material mechanics. Results: Parameters of the model are determined by the uniaxial tensile tests and the stress-relaxation tests. Corneal material properties are simulated to verify the hyper-viscoelastic model and measure the effectiveness of the model in the finite element simulation. On this basis, an in vivo model of the corneal is built. And the simulation of extrusion in vivo cornea shows that the force is roughly nonlinearly increasing with displacement, and it is consistent with the results obtained by extrusion experiment of in vivo cornea. Conlusions: This paper derives a corneal hyper-viscoelastic model to describe the material properties more accurately, and explains the mathematical method for determination of the model parameters. The model is an effective biomechanical model, which can be directly used for simulation of trephine and suture in keratoplasty. Although the corneal hyper-viscoelastic model is taken as the object of study, the method has certain adaptability in biomechanical research of ophthalmology.

Opis:
Cutting blasting has been widely used for tunnel excavation. The cutting forms significantly influence the blasting effect. This research focuses on the study of the relationship between cutting forms and blasting effects. Similarity theory is proposed for the experimental study of the rock blasting using small models. Then four experimental modes with different cutting forms are used to study the blasting effect due to the cutting forms. The cutting depth, borehole utilization rate, fragments volume, and average fragment size are analysed. The blasting effects with various cutting forms are compared. The influences of the borehole space and the blasting delay are discussed. It is concluded that the spiral cutting form can produce more fragments and is recommend for the small section tunnel excavation.

We propose a design of series-connected one-dimensional photonic crystal nanofiber cavity sensor (1-D PC-NCS) and one-dimensional photonic crystal nanofiber bandgap filter (1-D PC-NBF). The proposed structure can get a single air mode for refractive index sensing with its extinction ratio of 58.64 dB. It filters out the high order mode and reduces the interaction between signals. By 3D FDTD, the calculated sensitivity is 848.18 nm/RIU (RIU – refractive index unit). Compared with general silicon on-chip nanobeam cavity, the sensitivity is increased by eight times. The additional 1-D PC-NBF will not change the sensitivity and the position of the resonance wavelength. Therefore, the new design we propose addresses the issue of crosstalk, and can be applied to ultra-high sensitivity index-based gas sensing and biosensing without the need for complicated coupling systems.

The kinetics of hydrophobic agglomeration of molybdenite fines in aqueous suspensions has been studied in this work. This study was performed on minus 5 μm molybdenite particles through turbid-ity measurements and imaging. The results have showed that stirring strength and kerosene addition greatly affected the agglomeration rate of molybdenite fines in aqueous suspensions. The higher was the stirring strength, the larger the agglomeration rate was. Kerosene addition enhanced not only the agglom-eration rate, but also the agglomerates structure. It was recommended to use radial impeller for the for-mation of hydrophobic agglomeration, because it produced a stronger shear field in impeller zone.

Opis:
Truck arrival management (TAM) has been recognized as an effective solution to alleviate the gate congestion at container terminals. To further utilize TAM in improving the overall terminal performance, this study integrates TAM with the other terminal operations at a tactical level. An integrated planning model and a sequential planning model are presented to coordinate the major terminal planning activities, including quayside berth allocation, yard storage space allocation and TAM. A heuristic-based genetic algorithm is developed to solve the models. A range of numerical examinations are performed to compare two planning models. The result shows that: the integrated model can improve the terminal performance significantly from the sequential model alone, particularly when the gate capacity and the yard capacity are relatively low; whereas the sequential model is more efficient than the integrated model in terms of computational time.

Periodic motion of a plunging airfoil causes continuous changes in the surrounding flow field. The time-dependent thrust coefficient depends entirely on unsteady characteristics of the flow field. On the contrary, the time-dependent thrust coefficient may also reflect the unsteady characteristics of the corresponding flow field. With the fast Fourier transform (FFT) and dynamic mode decomposition (DMD), unsteady aerodynamic forces can be correlated with the flow field characteristics in the frequency domain. In the present paper, DMD is performed to analyze the unsteady characteristics of the flow field around a plunging NACA0012 airfoil at the Reynolds number of 20 000.

By researching the nonmetallic minerals in molybdenum tailings, this paper investigated the possible application of sodium dodecyl glycinate (SD) to deslimed tailings as an alternative to the large dosage and complex flotation reagent systems of conventional combination collectors (dodecylamine and sodium oleate). The floatability differences of nonmetallic minerals under different SD dosages were analyzed via pure mineral flotation experiments, and the adsorption behavior of SD onto different mineral surfaces was analyzed by quantum chemical calculations. The results of the calculated adsorption structures and energies of the different mineral surfaces show that SD was chemically adsorbed onto the albite (001), phlogopite (010), diopside (110), dolomite (101), calcite (104) and calcite (101) surfaces and that physical adsorption occurred at the phlogopite (001) surface. The corresponding adsorption trend was dolomite > calcite > diopside > albite > phlogopite. These results theoretically verify the feasibility of applying SD to the flotation of nonmetallic minerals in tailings and provide a basis for the selection of inhibitors needed for separating phlogopite from other minerals. In the flotation of deslimed molybdenum tailings, the recoveries of the nonmetallic minerals achieved with SD were close to those in pure mineral flotation, which was greater than the recoveries achieved with dodecylamine and sodium oleate (NaOl), and the dosage was reduced by approximately 25%.

Jarosite residues, which are generated in a zinc production plant by a hydrometallurgical process, contain a large amount of valuable metal components. In this study, a method was proposed for the recovery of lead, zinc and iron from the residues and simultaneous sulfur fixation through direct reduction followed by magnetic separation. The influences of the roasting temperature, roasting time and the concentration of SO2 gas in the direct reduction process were researched in detail. Results showed that the volatilization rates of lead, zinc and sulfur were 96.97%, 99.89% and 1.09%, respectively, and the iron metallization rate was 91.97% under optimal reduction conditions; roasting temperature 1523 K for 60 min. The magnetic concentrate with the iron content of 90.59% and recovery rate of 50.87% was obtained from the optimal reduction product by grinding and magnetic separation. The optimum fineness for separation 96.56% less than 37 μm accounted with magnetic field strength 24 kA/m. The theoretical analysis was carried out by thermodynamics, X-ray powder diffraction, gas analysis and scanning electron microscopy.

The instant foxtail millet was prepared using microwave vacuum drying (MVD), microwave-hot air drying (MHAD), hot air drying (HAD) and traditional roasting (TR). Their effects on drying kinetics, physicochemical properties as well as sensory quality were evaluated and compared. Results showed that the total drying time varied with the drying method used and was about 160, 100, 260, and 45 min for MVD, MHAD, HAD and TR, respectively. The effective moisture diffusion coefficients (Deff) were 6.57×10-9 m2/s, 9.80×10-9 m2/s, 4.14×10-9 m2/s and 6.20×10-9 m2/s for MVD, MHAD, HAD and TR, respectively. Drying resulted in a significant decrease in L* and an increase in a* and b* of the color of products. MVD, MHAD and HAD products had a comparable rehydration ratio and cooking time. Scanning electron microscopy and rehydration process revealed that MHAD and MVD samples had a similar structure with the HAD sample. Drying caused a loss of 6.5–54.9% in the total phenolic content and a loss of 38.4–62.2% in total yellow pigment content. MVD millet displayed the highest total phenolic content (142.56 mg GAE/100 g dry matter) and yellow pigment content (9.56 mg CE/kg dry matter). In sensory evaluation, MHAD, HAD and MVD samples had comparable scores and were all accepted by the panelists, either in dry or rehydrated form. MHAD and MVD can be used as an alternative to hot air drying or traditional roasting in the production of the instant millet due to shorter drying time and better product quality.

A series of flame retardant low-nitrogen nitrocelluloses (FR/NCs) containing different weight ratios of dimethyl methylphosphonate (DMMP) and long-chain chlorinated paraffin (CP) were directly prepared by blending method, and the burning behaviors, thermal and mechanical properties, pyrolysis process and char residues were investigated.The results showed that (DMMP/CP = 8/2)/NC at a total flame retardant loading of 17 wt % displayed the self-extinguishing behavior following a multi-flame retardancy mechanism with synergistic effect that includes gas-phase effects, endothermic effectsand slightly condensed-phase effects of flame retardancy. In addition, the tensile properties of the (DMMP/CP = 8/2)/NC revealed a synergistic plasticization effect, which could enhance the flexibility of NC. This new system provided a reference for improving a safety storage and widely application of NC in the future.
Metodą bezpośredniego mieszania składników otrzymano serię trudnopalnej nitrocelulozy o małym udziale azotu (NC) zawierającej dimetylofosfonian metylu (DMMP) zmieszany w różnych stosunkach masowych z długołańcuchową chlorowaną parafiną (CP). Oceniano właściwości palne, termiczne i mechaniczne wytworzonych mieszanin, badano również proces ich pirolizy, a także zwęgloną pozostałość po spaleniu. Stwierdzono, że mieszanina (DMMP/CP = 8/2)/NC z udziałem 17 % mas. uniepalniaczy charakteryzowała się zdolnością do samogaśnięcia w wyniku synergicznego wielofazowego mechanizmu uniepalniającego, obejmującego fazy gazową i częściowo skondensowaną, a także efekt endotermiczny. Dodatkowo właściwości wytrzymałościowe przy rozciąganiu wspomnianej mieszaniny wskazywały na synergiczne działanie plastyfikujące zastosowanych związków uniepalniających. Opracowana mieszanina pozwala na zwiększenie bezpieczeństwa przechowywania i użytkowania nitrocelulozy.

This paper proposes a condition-based maintenance policy for the two-phase Wiener degradation process components. The main contribution of this article is to provide the time distribution of degradation failures for the two-phase Wiener process degradationcomponent, as well as the modeling and solving methods for two-phase maintenance. The two-phase maintenance policy includes two-phase inspection and preventive replacement maintenance operations. The established optimization maintenance policy model aims to minimize long-term operation costs. The specific cost calculation equation and the solution method of the maintenance model are given. The feasibility of the maintenance policy model is verified using the two-phase degradation data of the Liquid Coupling Devices. The Particle swarm optimization algorithm can stably solve the described problem, and the results show that the two-phase maintenance policy can be more economical and improve components availability. After that, we also analyzed the impact of the cost parameters on the maintenance policy through sensitivity analysis.

Opis:
The utilization of seawater in mineral flotation is the future development trend because of the shortage of fresh water resources. However, at present, the flotation behavior and mechanism of galena in seawater are not clear. Therefore, this paper comprehensively carried out the effect mechanism of seawater on the flotation of galena. Micro-flotation results illustrated that the recovery of galena was higher in deionized water than that in 5×10-2 mol/L MgCl2 solution, 1×10-2 mol/L CaCl2 solution and seawater. Contact angle determination and Zeta potential distribution measurements showed that hydrophilic substances adsorbed on the surface of galena under alkaline conditions. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis further indicated that these substances were hydroxides precipitates, carbonate precipitates and hydroxyl complexes formed by divalent magnesium and calcium ions, which prevented the adsorption of collector on mineral surface. As a result, the galena recovery declined in 5×10-2 mol/L MgCl2 solution, 1×10-2 mol/L CaCl2 solution and seawater.
