Opis:
The demand for cobalt has increased significantly in recent years due to its use in a wide variety of products and processes. Cobalt and nickel often accompany each other in nature and close physicochemical properties of both metals make their separation a complicated practical problem. Organophosphorous extractants have been widely used to separate cobalt from nickel. This paper presents the preliminary results obtained for separation of cobalt from nickel using Cyanex 272 containing supported liquid membranes prepared by a novel ultrasound-assisted method. The results show that this novel supported liquid membrane preparation method leads to higher separation factors than those described in the literature under similar separation conditions.

Opis:
This paper secures soliton solutions to optical couplers in presence of Hamiltonian perturbation terms by the aid of undetermined coefficients. Both twin core couplers and multiple core couplers are studied. Bright, dark and singular soliton solutions are obtained for the model. The existence criteria for the solitons are also presented. The study is focused to the Kerr and power laws of nonlinearity.

Opis:
Novel polymeric packaging materials susceptible to environmentally friendly decomposition appeared on the global market. The paper is devoted to an investigation of the impact of degradable polymer packaging on marine life. The chosen polymer was a commercial packaging based on thermoplastic starch (TPS over 85%). The microorganism chosen was Phaeodactylum tricornutum diatom (identified in many aquatic reservoirs, with a tendency to flow with seawater plankton in places of great saline oscillation). The packaging material was incubated both in natural seawater and in the presence of diatom population. The chlorophyll a content was determined as the criterion of diatom growth in the presence of tested polymers. The polymer surface and the colour changes in the diatom culture were recorded photographically. The presence of polymeric samples significantly changed the kinetic of diatom growth in seawater during incubation affecting its biological balance. During the experiment in seawater, diatom adhered to polymer surfaces and the polymer stimulated their growth.

Opis:
The paper explains principles of fault locating based on traveling waves measured only at line terminals for hybrid lines comprising overhead and cable sections. The paper introduces an adaptive autoreclosing control logic to allow or cancel reclosing based on the location of the fault. The paper includes examples that explain and illustrate these principles.
