    The city of Banska Stiavnica and technical monuments in its vicinity were in year 1993 registered in the List of the World Cultural Heritage UNESCO (the mining region). The Salamander Parade in Banska Stiavnica as part of intangible cultural heritage of Slovakia represents specific and unique cultural traditions of miners that had formed during 150 years of existence of the Academy of Mining in Banská Stiavnica, during the following 80 years of active mining, and moreover, during 20 years following its finishing in 1993. The “Ausus” tradition nominated by the mining association Herrengrund is located in the mining settlement of Spania Dolina.

    The study deals with chosen examples of various activities (their positives and negatives) from the cultural area according to cultural heritage perspectives in Spišský Hrhov – the village of the year 2015. From the point of view of the endogenous sociocultural resources, the local leaders did their best to preserve the traditions of the local handicrafts. They have established the MusikMuseum in the village and they organize a festival of entertainment – Harhovske čuda a zabaviska (Harhov’s curiosities and funs). The festival represents the handicraft traditions in the village and a peculiar sense of humour and hyperbolism of Spiš/Hrhov.
    Badanie dotyczy wybranych przykładów różnych działań (zarówno ich stron pozytywnych, jak i negatywnych) z obszaru kultury zgodnie z perspektywami dziedzictwa kulturowego w Spišský Hrhov – wiosce roku 2015. Z punktu widzenia endogenicznych zasobów społeczno-kulturowych lokalne władze zrobiły wszystko, co w ich mocy, zachowując tradycje lokalnego rękodzieła. Założyli we wsi MusikMuseum i organizują festiwal rozrywki – Harhovské čudá a zábaviská (Cuda i zabawy Harhova). Festiwal reprezentuje tradycje rękodzielnicze w wiosce oraz ciekawe poczucie humoru i hiperbolizm Spiša/Hrhova.

    The aim of considerations is the analysis of the cultural space of neighbouring places situated in central Slovakia, namely Banska Bystrica and Zvolen. Basing on historical and ethnographic data the attempt was made to show the existence of various types of borders between the centers in question (a geographic, political, economic, economic, cultural and linguistic one). The emptirical studies assumed that the way of perceiving and interpreting the influence of the the very borders on people’s daily life, as well as their former and current influence on the local / town identity of inhabitants will be captured. The emphasis was put on presenting the actions of the inhabitants having a competitive and cooperative nature that have shaped the present-day economic, social and cultural needs, as well as the influence of a domestic and local politics aiming at forming one regional centre.

     Cultural and art heritage of Slovakia has been since 2007 one of the priorities in research and development. As a consequence of growing globalization and acculturation there is a real danger of the loss of traditional cultural values. That is why it is crucial to pay special attention to the research of cultural and art heritage. Application of knowledge on cultural heritage in the educational process is highly important because the level of national and ethnic identity and pride of young generation is not connected with cultural and art traditions of Slovakia.
