Opis:: W artykule przedstawiono specyficzne problemy bezpieczeństwa pracy i ergonomii występujące w procesach łączenia struktur statków powietrznych. Wielu pracowników w przemyśle lotniczym w Polsce uczestniczy w procesach łączenia materiałów za pomocą nitowania, klejenia lub zgrzewania. W artykule opisano typowe wypadki przy tych pracach i omówiono charakterystyczne zagrożenia i uciążliwości występujące przy wykorzystaniu różnych technologii łączenia stosowanych w przemyśle lotniczym. W artykule podano także przykłady wyposażenia pracy oraz działań prewencyjnych służących poprawie komfortu pracy podejmowanych w istniejących uwarunkowaniach prawnych i techniczno-organizacyjnych.
The article presents particular problems of occupational safety and ergonomics in aircraft assembly. Many employees in the aircraft industry in Poland participate in processes of joining materials by riveting, gluing or welding. The article describes typical accidents that may happen during such works and discusses distinctive risks and strenuousness present during application of different technologies of aircraft assembly. The article also provides examples of work equipment and prevention measures for improvement of safety and comfort at work undertaken in the existing legal and technical-organizational conditions.

Opis:: Początek XXI wieku charakteryzuje się wzrostem znaczenia gospodarczego Chińskiej Republiki Ludowej. Gospodarka Państwa Środka zajmuje obecnie drugie miejsce na świecie pod względem nominalnej wartości produktu krajowego brutto (PKB) oraz pierwszą pozycję, jeśli uwzględni się parytet siły nabywczej (PPP). Ponadto Chiny są największą potęgą handlową świata. Jednakże, przemówienie prezydenta Xi Jinpinga podczas Światowego Forum Ekonomicznego w Davos (17 stycznia 2017 r.) pokazało, że Chiny mogą nie być tak silne, jak wygląda to na papierze, zwłaszcza w obliczu protekcjonistycznej retoryki prezydenta Donalda Trumpa. W tym kontekście rodzą się pytania o bieżącą i przyszłą pozycję waluty chińskiej. Czy rosnące aspiracje Pekinu na scenie międzynarodowej idą w parze z siłą juana (CNY), znanego również pod oficjalną nazwą renminbi (RMB)? Celem niniejszego artykułu jest próba odpowiedzi na powyższe pytania.
The beginning of the twenty-first century is characterised by the increasing economic importance of the People's Republic of China. The Chinese economy ranks as the second largest in the world in terms of nominal gross domestic product (GDP) and the largest when you take into account the purchasing power parity (PPP). Moreover, China is the largest trading power in the world. However, the speech delivered by President Xi Jinping at the World Economic Forum in Davos (17 January 2017) showed that China may not be as strong as it looks on paper, especially in the face of President Donald Trump's protectionist rhetoric. In this context, questions arise about the current and future position of Chinese currency. Another question is whether Beijing's growing aspirations in the international arena go hand in hand with the strength of the yuan (CNY), also known under the official name of the renminbi (RMB)? The purpose of this article is to attempt to answer the above questions.

Opis:: Introduction. Diabetes is associated with a lower quality of life (QoL). Insulin therapy is perceived as an additional factor affecting QoL. The objective of this study, using standardized tools, was to evaluate to what extent insulin treatment has an effect on QoL in diabetes. Materials and method. 60 diabetic patients treated with insulin and 90 with oral drugs, all aged over 30, were included into the study. To assess the QoL of patients, SF-36 v.2 and WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires were used. In addition, demographic data were collected. Results. Insulin treated patients had a significantly lower Mental Component Score in SF-36 v.2 questionnaire. No significant differences between the two groups were found in the components of physical domain of SF-36 v.2 and in four domains of WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires. Insulin therapy was significantly associated with lower educational level. The strongest association with QoL in both questionnaires was found for professional activity and age. Conclusions. The results of this study indicate the need for psychological support for patients with diabetes treated with insulin to improve their mental coping. Diabetic patients should also be advised to continue their professional activity for as long as possible due to its important role in maintaining QoL.

Opis:: Introduction. Impaired hearing organ function including abnormalities in auditory brainstem response (ABR) are more frequent in diabetic subjects compared to the general population. The aim of our study was to assess the impact of selected modifiable factors on ABR latencies in diabetic subjects. Material and Methods. 58 patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, aged <45 years, with diabetes duration <10 years, and without clinically overt hearing impairment or diabetic neuropathy, were included. In all subjects vital signs and blood samples were obtained, and ABR audiometry was performed. Results. Significantly delayed latencies in ABR were found in patients with total cholesterol <192 mg/dL, with HDL-cholesterol <49.5 mg/dL, with triglycerides >89 mg/dL, with presence of hypertension, and with systolic and diastolic blood pressure >135 and >78 mm Hg respectively. A linear correlation between triglycerides and wave I and III latencies, and between systolic blood pressure and wave III latency were revealed. A relationship between ABR latencies and HbA1c, LDL-cholesterol or BMI was not found. Conclusions. Several modifiable factors affect functioning of the retrocochlear part of the auditory pathway. If these results were confirmed in further studies, a vast area of possible therapeutic interventions to preserve hearing function in diabetic patients would become available.

Pierwszym krokiem na drodze do wdrożenia technologii reaktorów wysokotemperaturowych w Polsce była realizacja projektu GOSPOSTRATEG-HTR. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi podsumowanie najważniejszych celów i osiągnięć projektu.
Climate protection requires the deployment of zero-emission energy sources, such as nuclear reactors. Hightemperature reactors can be a perfect complement to large-scale nuclear energy by supplying the energy market with hightemperature heat for various technological processes. The first step towards the implementation of high-temperature reactor technology in Poland was the implementation of the GOSPOSTRATEG-HTR project. This article is a summary of the most important goals and achievements of the project.

Opis:: Japanese economy is one of the largest economies in the world, but its share in the global GDP is decreasing steadily. Relative weakness is caused by both internal and external factors. Internal factors derive from a socio-economic model that was successful after World War II, but became less effective in the 21st century. On the other hand, external factors include: the growing competition from China and South Korea (the countries that initially emulated the Japanese model) and also the impact of natural disasters, which after several decades of relative seismic calm, have increasingly begun to affect the weakened economy of the Land of the Rising Sun. In addition, companies of the Silicon Valley have emerged on the market. When the software era arrived, Japan was still stuck to the production of hardware. In the face of the aforementioned challenges, successive governments in Tokyo have tried to break the unfavorable trend, which usually ended up with growing the public debt only. At the turn of 2012 and 2013 Shinzō Abe, an experienced politician, became the head of the Japanese government and announced a reform program named after his name – abenomics. The purpose of this article is the attempt to evaluate this program from the perspective of over four years from the time of its announcement.
