The paper is focused on the meso- and microstructural characteristics of selected shearing zones in the Western Tatra Mts. The domains of crystalline rocks studied (Długi Upłaz Ridge, Rakoń Mt., Zabraty Ridge and Zabrať Pass, Wołowiec Mt., Trzydniowiański Mt., Czubik Mt. and Jarząbczy Mt.) show evidences of heterogeneous shearing with development of shear zones. Four types of shear zones were distinguished: (1) ductile shear zones in gneisses, (2) brittle-ductile complex shear zones, (3) gneisses with clear later brittle deformation; (4) leucogranites, produced by anatexis with later brittle deformation. The development of these shear zones is characterised by occurrences of various types of fault rocks: cataclasites, S-C cataclasites and mylonites. The different shearing-related rocks and structures are interpreted as an effect of protolith diversity and strain partitioning. Shape-preferred orientation is an important structural feature of all the shearing-related rocks. Kinematic analyses revealed generally a southward sense of shearing documented by structures related to brittle conditions and northwards sense of shearing recognised in ductily sheared crystalline rocks. The time relationships between different shear zone types are discussed, leading to the conclusions that the 1st type of shear zone is pure Variscan, the 2nd type is Variscan with Alpine brittle deformation, and the 3rd and 4th types are mainly Alpine brittle deformations of Variscan syntectonic anatectic leucogranites.

The paper presents a method enabling determination of the extent of landscape zones, based on the criterion of area coverage by vegetation. This method made it possible to objectively determine the extent of landscape zones both in the entire Tatra Mts. and in their particular parts. The altitude, at which dominant type of vegetation changes, is considered to mark the boundary of a landscape zone. Boundaries distinguished in this way in the Tatra Mts. are presently situated at: 1,510 m a.s.l. (forest zone), 1,730 m a.s.l. (subalpine zone), and 1,880 m a.s.l. (alpine zone).

This article has two aims: the cognitive one and the methodological one. The first one focuses on delineating city areas (of Łódź in this case), in relation to which a conscious parking policy should be implemented, including differentiation of the base parking fee and dynamics of parking cost increment in time. The methodological aim, in turn, consists in elaborating a research algorithm based exclusively on the geographical information system, which is based on generally available vector data, together with data obtained from intelligent transport systems. For their realization of the authors of this article elaborated their own methodology. It consists of five stages. The basic research unit is the surveying district. The area on the basis of which the research was made is the Łódź urban zone defined in the Strategy of Spatial Development for Łódź (2012). Each research stage corresponds to defining the power of impact of the variable which, as an research overview shows, affects the parking policy. Since the research is conducted on the basis different variables at individual stages and finally the coefficient assumes the form of five elements, it is necessary to standardize partial results. The article uses a procedure based on the quotient of the difference between the calculated value and the average for the whole group, divided by standard deviation. The results of the conducted research in the cognitive scope show that problems connected with parking organization do not concern only the very city centre (mostly the district of Śródmieście). Particular attention should be drawn to areas next to the city’s main transport arteries which go latitudinally (for instance, Piłsudski avenue) or meridionally (e.g. Kościuszki street, Zachodnia street).

Several dozen of self-governments – municipal and county councils and regional assemblies passed resolutions and declarations against the LGBT ideology. The authors of these documents emphasized the will to protect the family based on traditional values and to defend the education system against LGBT propaganda/ideology. Opponents warned against the stigmatization of non-heteronormative people. The guideline for the above-mentioned documents became the “Local Government Charter of Family Rights”, published in 2019. Signs “LGBT-free zone” have appeared at the entrances to areas administered by self-governments that have adopted such declarations or resolutions. The dispute has become increasingly wide-ranging and has involved the media, the courts, the prosecutor’s office, the Ombudsman, the European Parliament, and the European Commission. The author of this article does not take sides. He merely believes that unnecessary quarrels harms our country. To demonstrate the absurdness of the argument over “LGBT-free zones”, the article refers to: – the selected documents relating to local government (declarations, resolutions, court judgments) and the “Local Government Charter of Family Rights” – generally binding acts of law relating to the self-government, family and educational tasks; – biographies of people (e.g. writers) who should be considered positive in Polish and World history, despite their complicated family life. The selection of the analyzed data can be considered subjective. The author chose the documents of local governments of Małopolska and Beskid Mountains, because he considers the areas managed by them to be very attractive for tourists – he likes to spend holidays in Cracow, Zakopane and Beskid Śląski and Żywiecki, e.g. in Koniaków and Żywiec. The reading list for secondary schools, adopted by the Minister of National Education, determined the selection of writers’ biographies. The choice of the others was determined by the uniqueness of their biographies and the impact on the history of Poland and the world. Finishing work on the article in March 2022, the author consciously introduced the theme of Ukraine.

Autor artykułu nie opowiada się po żadnej z polemizujących stron. Uważa jedynie, że niepotrzebne kłótnie szkodzą naszemu krajowi. Dla wykazania absurdalności sporu o „strefy wolne od LGBT”, w artykule odniesiono się do: wybranych dokumentów dotyczących samorządu terytorialnego (deklaracje, uchwała, wyrok sądu) oraz „Samorządowej Karty Praw Rodzin”; powszechnie obowiązujących aktów prawa odnoszących się do zadań własnych samorządu terytorialnego, rodziny oraz oświaty; biografii osób (np. pisarzy), które zapisały się pozytywnie w historii Polski i świata, mimo pogmatwanego życia rodzinnego. Dobór analizowanych danych można uznać za subiektywny. Autor wybrał dokumenty samorządów Małopolski i Beskidów, bo zarządzane przez nie tereny uważa za bardzo atrakcyjne dla turystów – lubi spędzać wakacje w Krakowie, Zakopanem oraz Beskidzie Śląskim i Żywieckim, np. w Koniakowie i Żywcu. Wykaz lektur dla szkół ponadpodstawowych, przyjęty przez Ministra Edukacji Narodowej, zadecydował o doborze biografii pisarzy. O wyborze pozostałych osób przesądziła niezwykłość ich życiorysów oraz wpływ na historię Polski i świata. Kończąc pracę nad artykułem w marcu 2022 r. autor świadomie wprowadził wątek Ukrainy.

Celem pracy było zbadanie rozmieszczenia współczesnych stref przemysłowych w stosunku do lokalizacji terminali intermodalnych (kontenerowych) oraz wskazanie rekomendacji w zakresie zwiększenia wykorzystania transportu kolejowego i intermodalnego. Do analizowanych stref przemysłowych autor zaliczył specjalne strefy ekonomiczne oraz parki przemysłowe i technologiczne. Przedstawiono także różnice pomiędzy deklarowaną a rzeczywistą polityką transportową i przemysłową państwa. Artykuł stanowi diagnozę uwarunkowań wykorzystania kolei i transportu intermodalnego przez przedsiębiorstwa działające w strefach przemysłowych. Uwzględniono procesy zachodzące od początku transformacji ustrojowej w zakresie rozwoju stref przemysłowych i transportu intermodalnego w Polsce. Jak wynika z przeprowadzonych badań, dostęp stref przemysłowych do terminali intermodalnych był ograniczony. Przy lokalizacji stref przemysłowych w małym stopniu brano pod uwagę możliwość doprowadzenia bocznicy kolejowej czy też odległość od terminali kontenerowych. Stanowiło to barierę w rozwoju transportu intermodalnego w Polsce oraz wpływało na zwiększenie kosztów zewnętrznych transportu i jego negatywnego wpływu na środowisko.
The aim of the study was to investigate the location of modern industrial zones in relation to the location of intermodal terminals (containers) and to make recommendations in terms of increasing the use of rail and intermodal transport. As analysed industrial areas, the author has included special economic zones and industrial and technological parks. The differences between the declared and actual transport and industrial policies of the state are also presented. The present article is a diagnosis of the conditions for the use of railways and intermodal transport by companies operating in industrial zones. The processes that have taken place since the beginning of the systemic transformation in the development of industrial zones and intermodal transport in Poland have been taken into account. According to the research, access to intermodal terminals was limited. For the location of industrial zones, the possibility of connecting a railway siding or the distance from container terminals was considered to a small extent. This constituted a barrier to the development of intermodal transport in Poland, increased the cost of external transport and its negative impact on the environment.

The food economy on the national scale constitutes one of fundamental objectives in the state's economic policy. Till recently it was centrally controlled. And there are many factors pointing at the necess ity of its future inclusion in the national plan in conditions prevailing in the socialist economy. Implementation of the plan guidelines takes place within regional systems in accordance with the territorial differentiation of conditions and factors both in the produotion and consumption spheres. The real regionail compoments of the food economy do not always coincide with the spatial division of the country into administrative provinces but they are a consequence of spatial distribution of big food consumer markets represented by big towns and their agglomerations. In order to optimize provision of these markets with food with simultaneous minimization of transports costs there is postulated creation of „food regions" in Poland. Their focal points should be big consumer markets while their territorial coverage should determine demand for food. Such delimitation should be performed so as to leave at the disposal of each town and its agglomeration its own food-supply area. This area should be supplying amply, first of all, these products whose transport over longer distances is difficult or very expensive. Correct functioning of the postulated regions requires that relations between consumer and producer markets should not be restricted to flow of goods since they should also include co-operation ih the sphere of services and production. The concept of food zones for towns has been known in the scientific literature for a long time. It should, however, be constantly up-dated since technical, organizational, and economic progress leads continuously to changes in relations between the town and its food-supplying area. The thesis has been illustrated by a classical example of a highly urbanized and industrialized area spreading where the Rhein and the Main meet with such towns as Darmstadt, Frankfurt, Ludwigshafen, Mannheim, Heildelberg, Mainz and Wiesbaden. Taking the example of Łódź Agglomeration, the author is trying to present for discussion a working model of practical adaptation of a theoretical concept delimitating food zones for agglomerated settlement systems in conditions of Poland's economy characterized with unsatisfactory economic performance.

Opis:
Even small streams may cause severe flooding. The evaluation of the safety of people and objects in the area of a watercourse is related to modelling of flood zones. The area of potential flood zones is calculated on the basis of a Digital Terrain Model (DTM). This paper presents interpolation methods for creating DTMs based on land surveying data. The result of sample modelling is compared with selected interpolation methods.

Opis:
A case study of potential inundation of Saska Kępa in Warsaw is presented. The flood is a result of a hypothetical breach of a segment of the Vistula river embankment. The inundation's evolution is simulated numerically using a model of shallow water hydrodynamics. The finite volume method is used to solve the mathematical model of the flow. Digital models of the floodplain's relief and land cover, as well as a visualization of the simulation results, are prepared using the Geographical Information System. The computations may be useful in estimations of Warsaw's flood risk zones.

The paper presents the changes of coal seams quality near fault zones. Three types of relations have been found. The first one shows an increase of coal quality at the 0.2 m distance from fault surface, as a result of increase of coalification degree. It is assumed that, this type was caused by heat of friction which was rising during faulting. It is revealed as an increase of such parameters as: caking properties, vitrinite reflectance, calorific value and carbon content, as well as the decrease of oxygen, ash, and moisture content. The second type presents differed degree of coal quality decrease. This type was produced due to hypergenic processes. The author found four subtypes of oxidation-type changes of coal quality parameters in fault zones. The first one shows the highest level of hypergenic processes in a coal seam about 1 m off a fault plane. The second presents minor degree of oxidation processes in the coal seam at a smaller distance from the fault. The third one demonstrates minimum oxidation changes of coal quality at a distance of 0.2 m from the fault. The fourth subtype of the oxidation changes of coal quality has been observed only in tectonic breccia and not in the coal seams itself.The third types demonstrates faults which do not show any impact on changes of coal quality parameters. To this type belong faults from SW part of USCB and faults with downthrown up to 20 m.
