    Opis:
    As a result of the dynamic development of technology, glass-aluminum facades are now widely used. Not only representative facades in city centers, but also small buildings, such as commercial and office buildings, are equipped with aesthetic glass facades. To properly fulfill the functions of a curtain wall (thermal protection, water tightness, etc.), glass aluminum systems must be properly designed and assembled. The aim of the article is to identify the most common errors made when implementing small investments on the basis of information about problems that emerge during assembly, as well as the reasons for complaints filed by investors. The most popular post-and-beam systems on small construction sites were analyzed. The data was obtained from companies operating in the northern part of the Silesian Voivodeship, dealing with the distribution and assembly of these systems. Scoring was made of the negative impact of the identified errors on the structure. It was found that the main problem in this issue is the lack of due diligence during assembly, in particular deviations from catalog recommendations.

    Opis:
    Fasady aluminiowo–szklane to jedno z rozwiązań wykonania lekkiej ściany osłonowej. Jest to znak współczesności, jakości i estetyki. Powszechność wykorzystania fasad aluminiowo–szklanych wynika z dużej funkcjonalności oraz wysokiego standardu użytkowania. Różnorodność oferowanych przez producentów systemów fasad aluminiowych sprawia, że inwestor musi dokonać wyboru takiego, który spełni przez niego określone kryteria. Celem artykułu jest prezentacja i ocena wybranych i najczęściej stosowanych systemów fasad aluminiowych. Analizie poddano trzy warianty oferowanych na rynku systemów. Wybór wariantu został dokonany z wykorzystaniem metody analizy wielokryterialnej. Celem autorów jest przedstawienie i porównanie kilku metod wykorzystywanych w analizie wielokryterialnej poprzez rozwiązanie problemu decyzyjnego, jakim jest wybór optymalnego systemu fasady aluminiowo–szklanej.
    Aluminum–glass facades are one of the solutions for the light curtain wall. It is a sign of modernity, quality and aesthetics. The common use of aluminum and glass facades is due to the high functionality and high standard of use. The variety of aluminum facade systems offered by manufacturers means that the investor must choose one that meets certain criteria. The aim of the article is to present and evaluate selected and most frequently used aluminum facade systems. Three variants of systems offered on the market were presented and analyzed. The choice of the best variant was made using the multi–criteria analysis method. To enable the comparison and evaluation of the variants authors proposed four criteria. To encode the data four different methods were used to maximize the objectivity of the result.

    As an element of structural and material solutions, aluminium and glass façades are the mainstay of urban architecture; they are especially used in public utility buildings. The article provides a review of architectural styles and trends of the 20th century, when exterior elevations began to take the form of aluminium and glass façades. It illustrates the main architectural trends of urban architecture in the 20th century and their evolution throughout the years. Furthermore, it specifies and refers to the architecture of the 20th and 21st centuries in Kraków and presents selected public utility buildings which have become an integral part of architecture in this city.

    Opis:
    Collisions between birds and buildings are a common phenomenon given the increasing anthropogenisation of the environment and the emergence of human settlements along traveling routes of species’ migration. Glass surfaces, which are increasingly frequently used in modern construction engineering, appear to be particularly dangerous in this aspect, as birds may not recognise them as obstacles even during the day. In this paper, the results of a study of collisions between birds and different types of buildings in the urban zones with low, medium and high proportions of green areas in buildings were analysed. The highest number of collisions was observed for buildings located near enclaves of vegetation, characterised by high biological diversity. The presence of distractors on the glazing had a significant impact on reducing the number of collisions.
    Kolizje ptaków z budynkami są zjawiskiem powszechnym ze względu na postępującą antropogenizację środowiska i powstawanie osiedli ludzkich wzdłuż tras migracji gatunków wędrownych. Szczególnie niebezpieczne w tym aspekcie wydają się być powierzchnie szklane, coraz częściej stosowane w nowoczesnym budownictwie, gdyż ptaki mogą nie rozpoznawać ich jako przeszkód nawet w ciągu dnia. W niniejszej pracy przeanalizowano wyniki badań kolizji ptaków z różnymi typami budynków w strefach miejskich o niskim, średnim i wysokim udziale terenów zielonych w zabudowie. Największą liczbę kolizji zaobserwowano dla budynków zlokalizowanych w pobliżu enklaw zielonej roślinności, charakteryzujących się dużą różnorodnością biologiczną. Obecność elementów rozpraszających na szybach istotnie wpływała na spadek liczby kolizji.
