    Opis:
    The following article seeks to analyze some linguistic mechanisms which occur in selected English verbal, or linguistic jokes. The focus of the research is concentrated on selected stylistic figures and pragmatic mechanisms that contribute to the creation of humorous contexts. The study is based on a corpus of miscellaneous linguistic jokes. The linguistic mechanisms that contribute to the funniness of the analyzed jokes will be analyzed from the pragmatic and rhetorical points of view. Pragmatically, we will seek examples based on entailments, presuppositions, violation of the maxims, implicatures. Stylistically, or rhetorically, our analysis will pertain to the occurrences of various stylistic devices, such as hyperbole, allusion, alliteration, euphemism, phraseology, irony, colloquial expressions, anaphora, cataphora, simile, puns, metaphor, metonymy. We will seek to determine which pragmatic mechanisms and which rhetorical devices are the most frequent in the jokes.
    W poniższym artykule podjęto próbę analizy niektórych mechanizmów językowych występujących w wybranych angielskich dowcipach słownych lub językowych. Badania skupiają się na wybranych figurach stylistycznych i pragmatycznych mechanizmach, które przyczyniają się do tworzenia kontekstów humorystycznych. Badanie opiera się na korpusie różnych dowcipów językowych, których tematyka jest różna. Mechanizmy językowe, które decydują o śmieszności analizowanych dowcipów, zostaną przeanalizowane z pragmatycznego i retorycznego punktu widzenia. Pragmatycznie będziemy szukać przykładów opartych na implikacjach, założeniach, naruszaniu maksym, implikaturach. Stylistycznie lub retorycznie nasza analiza będzie dotyczyć występowania różnych środków stylistycznych, takich jak hiperbola, aluzja, aliteracja, eufemizm, frazeologia, ironia, wyrażenia potoczne, anafora, katafora, porównanie, kalambury, metafora, metonimia. Postaramy się ustalić, jakie mechanizmy pragmatyczne i jakie środki retoryczne występują w dowcipach najczęściej.

    The work tends to classify the stylistic characteristics which can be found in those par- ts of Serbian folk poetry that deal with the motif of the “end of time” vision. The “end of time” is a Biblical topie about the curse and the finał judgement that will lead to the de- struction of the Earth due to the sins and lawlessness of the people living on it. The “end of time “vision consists of a longer or a shorter listing of the human lawlessness and the events that foretell the coming of the end. In this world destruction the four basie life sym- bols will disappear: the sheep and the wheat, the bee and the flower.  In order to express the apocalyptic vision of the world disaster, a specific “scenario” is madę; the “scenario” in which the apocryphal picture of paradise and heli is given. That picture enabled the folk poet to produce specific poetic images with a lot of stylistic figu- res in a finely sharpened poetry.

    In French comic quoted forms mechanisms of comism connected with taboo can be defined by means of semantic and stylistic analysis, however, the most comprehensive description can be obtained by employing linguistic pragmatics research instruments. Comic violation of taboo stems from breaching the maxim of politeness and quantity. Another source of humour comes from the contrast between the cultural presupposition and the sense of the sentence or its implicature. Implied topics are the basis for humour, quite like the implied structure of an utterance. Such sentences represent indirect speech acts: illocutionary tropes, as well as allusive derivatives packed with vulgarisms. From the semantic point of view, contrasts between the specific inherent semes and the afferent ones prevail. Oppositions within specific inherent semes or afferent contextual ones can also be observed. Quoted comic forms represent simple or complex tropes as well as rhymed paraphrases. Taboo content can be found in lexemes with broad connotations.
    Dans les formes citées françaises à caractère humoristique, les mécanismes du comique lié au tabou se laissent préciser à l’aide des analyses sémantique et stylistique, mais la description complète est obtenue grâce à l’appareil de la pragmatique linguistique. La violation comique du tabou découle de la transgression des maximes de politesse et de quantité. Comme source de l’humour, il faut citer le contraste entre une présupposition culturelle et le sens de la phrase ou l’implication. Les sujets impliqués se trouvent aussi à la base de l’humour ainsi que la construction implicative de l’énoncé. Les phrases en question appartiennent aux actes de langage indirects : aux tropes illocutoires et aux dérivations allusives truffées de vulgarismes. Du point de vue sémantique, ce sont les contrastes entre les sèmes spécifiques inhérents et afférents qui prévalent. On observe aussi des oppositions à l’intérieur des sèmes spécifiques inhérents ou afférents contextuels. Les formes autonymes comiques sont des tropes simples ou complexes ainsi que des périphrases rimées. Les contenus tabouisés apparaissent dans des lexèmes à connotation large.

    Opis:
    Autorka rozpatruje tkankę składniowo-stylistyczną twórczości wybitnego ukraińskiego poety Iwana Nyzowego, którego dorobek artystyczny dotychczas pozostaje poza zasięgiem zainteresowań językoznawców. Nieodłącznym składnikiem przestrzeni językowej poety są środki stylistyczne o charakterze składniowym. Badaczka analizuje funkcjonowanie w utworach poety takich środków stylistycznych, jak figury dodawania (anafora, epistrofa, homoioteleuton), figury gromadzenia (gradacja, polisyndeton, asyndeton), figury przemieszczenia (inwersja, chiazm), figury retoryczne (zwrot adresatywny, pytanie, negacja, afirmacja, okrzyk). Za pomocą wymienionych środków figuratywno-ekspresyjnych o charakterze składniowym poeta tworzy wyjątkową tonację emocjonalną tekstu poetyckiego, uwypukla swoją wypowiedź, układa swoisty rysunek rytmiczno-melodyczny i kreuje wyraziste kontury obrazu poetyckiego, a zatem jako autor osiąga najbardziej wyrazisty efekt stylistyczny w manifestacji swojego światopoglądu indywidualnego.
    The author of the article considers the stylistic and syntactic features of the individual style of the famous Ukrainian poet Ivan Nyzovyi. His works were not appreciated enough from the linguistic point of view. Stylistic means based on the syntactic constructions are the main feature of the language of Ivan Nyzovyi’s poems. This article is devoted to the functions of such stylistic figures. The author examines the stylistic units as figures of addition (anaphora, epistrophe, homeoteleuth); figures of accumulation (gradation, polysyndeton, asyndeton); figures of displacement (inversion, chiasm); rhetorical figures (appeal, question, denial, affirmation, exclamation) in the poems. She concludes that the expressive means of syntactic origin create a special emotional tonality of the poetic narrative, highlight the key phrases, organize a peculiar rhythm pattern and relief contour of the poetry, and therefore achieve the most expressive stylistic effect in the presentation of the author’s worldview.
