Opis:: Duration of relationship, endorsement of partners’ opinions concerning stereotypical role of woman in relationship and quality of communication as determinants of satisfaction with a relationshipThe aim of the research was to determine whether relational satisfaction is dependent on the type of relation (engagement, marriage relations of different duration: up to three years and over ten years), the quality of communication between partners, and the level of the endorsement of partners’ opinions concerning the stereotypical woman’s role in a close relationship. Two hundred sixteen engaged and married couples took part in the research. Seventy two couples were engaged, seventy two couples were married and the duration of the marriage did not exceed 3 years, and seventy two couples were married for a period longer than 10 years. Participants completed The Questionnaire of Marriage Communication (Kaźmierczak, Plopa, 2005), the level of endorsement of the partners’ opinions concerning stereotypical woman’s role in a close relationship and relational satisfaction were also measured. The results show higher relational satisfaction of participants engaged. Moreover, it was observed that the longer the relation, the lower the assessment of relational satisfaction, and the worse the quality of communication. The important factors determining relational satisfaction are both the quality of communication and the level of endorsement of partners’ opinions concerning stereotypical feminine role in a relationship. Obtained results were analysed in the light of modern theories of relations and gender roles

Opis:: Objectives Existing research has documented that shiftwork consequences may depend on the shift system parameters. Fast rotating systems (1–3 shifts of the same kind in a row) and day work have been found to be less disruptive biologically and socially than slower rotating systems and afternoon and night work. The aim of this study was to compare day workers and shift workers of different systems in terms of rotation speed and shifts worked with regard to work–family and family–work positive and negative spillover, marital communication style, job satisfaction and health. Material and Methods Employees (N = 168) of the maintenance workshops of transportation service working different shift systems (day shift, weekly rotating 2 and 3‑shift system, and fast rotating 3-shift system) participated in the study. They completed the Work– Family Spillover Questionnaire, Marital Communication Questionnaire, Minnesota Job Satisfaction Questionnaire and the Physical Health Questionnaire (a part of the Standard Shiftwork Index). Results The workers of quicker rotating 3-shift systems reported significantly higher scores of family-to-work facilitation (F(3, 165) = 4.175, p = 0.007) and a higher level of constructive style of marital communication (Engagement F(3, 165) = 2.761, p = 0.044) than the workers of slower rotating 2-shift systems. There were no differences between the groups of workers with regard to health and job satisfaction. Conclusions A higher level of work–family facilitation and a more constructive style of marital communication were found among the workers of faster rotating 3-shift system when compared to the workers of a slower rotating 2-shift system (afternoon, night). This may indicate that the fast rotating shift system in contrary to the slower rotating one is more friendly for the work and family domains and for the relationship between them. Opis:: Shift workers (N = 42) of a large Polish production company took part in the study investigating linkages between work-family interface, marital communication and health. The following instruments were used in the study: the Work-Family Spillover Scale, the Marital Communication Questionnaire and GHQ-28. The obtained results point to a few phenomena: (1) mental health complaints in shift workers (somatic symptoms, anxiety and sleeplessness, social dysfunction, acute depression, and general health) correlate with work-family conflict (Pearson r coefficients: 0.32; 0.43; 0.41; 0.52; 0.52, respectively); (2) family–work facilitation correlates with constructive styles of marital communication (support, engagement – 0.40 and 0.36, respectively) and work–family conflict presents a moderate correlation with a destructive communication style: depreciation (r = 0.31). Work–family interface is therefore related to marital communication and health of shift workers.
Wśród pracowników zmianowych (N = 42) dużej polskiej firmy produkcyjnej przeprowadzono badania w zakresie powiązań pomiędzy relacją praca–rodzina, komunikacją małżeńską i zdrowiem psychicznym. Wykorzystano Skalę Wzajemnego Wpływu Pracy i Rodziny, Kwestionariusz Komunikacji Małżeńskiej i Partnerskiej oraz GHQ-28. Uzyskane rezultaty wskazują, że: (1) dolegliwości związane ze zdrowiem psychicznym pracowników zmianowych (objawy somatyczne, lęk i bezsenność, dysfunkcja społeczna/zaburzenia funkcjonowania, ostra depresja i ogólny stan zdrowia) mogą być w umiarkowanym stopniu powiązane z konfliktem praca–rodzina; (2) facylitacja rodzina–praca koreluje umiarkowanie z konstruktywnymi stylami komunikacji małżeńskiej (wsparcie i zaangażowanie), natomiast konflikt praca–rodzina koreluje umiarkowanie z destruktywnym stylem komunikacji w diadzie: deprecjacją. Relacja praca–rodzina wiąże się zatem w umiarkowanym stopniu z komunikacją małżeńską i zdrowiem pracowników zmianowych.

Opis:: Marriage is a very unique type of interpersonal relationship between two people. Proper communication between spouses is a crucial issue for the good health of the marriage. This article is focused on some communication processes between partners. The communication axioms, as the principles of great impact on the marital relationship, have been shown together with the possibilities of the spouses’ communication difficulties. The role of non-verbal communication, as well as the specification of some concrete communication behaviors, are the highlighted topics in the following article.
Relacja małżeńska jest specyficznym typem relacji interpersonalnej, a w jej funkcjono-waniu niezwykle ważną rolę odgrywa skuteczna komunikacja między małżonkami. Ten arty-kuł prezentuje niektóre procesy komunikacyjne zachodzące pomiędzy małżonkami. Ukazane są w nim aksjomaty komunikacyjne jako zasady funkcjonujące również w relacji małżeńskiej; przedstawiona jest rola umiejętności komunikacyjnych w dobrym funkcjonowaniu małżeństwa, a także możliwe trudności w komunikacji małżeńskiej. Ponadto w artykule uwypuklona jest rola komunikacji niewerbalnej w małżeństwie oraz charakterystyka konkretnych zachowań komunikacyjnych w relacji pomiędzy małżonkami.

Opis:: The aim of the study was to investigate the association between marital satisfaction and theperception of partner’s communication style. It was hypothesized, on the basis of literature,that the perception of the partner’s communication behaviours; such as supportive,engaged, and depreciated, is related to marital satisfaction. The study design comprisedof a correlational study in which participants were asked to fill in the questionnaires. The results indicated a significant correlation between marital satisfaction and the perception of partner communication style as supportive, engaged, and depreciated. The higher levelof marital satisfaction was found in the married adults who perceived their partner’scommunication style as highly supportive and engaged, but the least depreciated. The results confirmed the importance of communication between partners for their perceived satisfaction with the relationship.

Opis:: The issue made in the article, is associated with a certain type of marital relationships. I focused on him at quarrels and arguing that occur between partners, because they, in my opinion, determine to a large extent on the totality of these relations. I begin my thoughts to determine the meanings of such terms as: “quarrel”, “dispute”, “conflict” or “crisis”. They are used for the description of behavior, which are the subject of my interests, are therefore the key to their understanding. I assumed – that what determines the nature of marriage, is primarily associated with communication between the partners. I mean communication rather wide and turn in all its scope both verbal and non-verbal behaviour, that determine the communication and mutual affections. Any barriers which make difficult so understood communication leads to conflict and crisis, and these, in turn, take the form of “quarrels” or “disputes”. Therefore, the central problem of this article was to analyze the progress and results of quarrels and disputes that may arise in this type of relationship.
Problematyka podjęta w artykule, związana jest z pewnym typem relacji małżeńskich. Skupiłam się w nim na kłótniach, do jakich dochodzi między partnerami, ponieważ to one, w moim przekonaniu, decydują w dużej mierze o całokształcie tych relacji. Moje rozważania rozpoczynam od ustalenia znaczeń takich terminów, jak: „kłótnia”, „spór”, „konflikt” czy „kryzys”. Służą one bowiem do opisu zachowań, stanowiących przedmiot moich zainteresowań, są zatem kluczem do ich zrozumienia. Przyjęłam, że to, co decyduje o charakterze małżeństwa, związane jest przede wszystkim z komunikacją między jego partnerami. Komunikację rozumiem tutaj dość szeroko i włączam w jej zakres zarówno wszelkie zachowania werbalne, jak i niewerbalne, które decydują o porozumiewaniu się i wzajemnym okazywaniu uczuć. Wszelkie bariery utrudniające tak rozumianą komunikację prowadzą do konfliktów i kryzysu, a te z kolei przyjmują postać „kłótni” czy „sporów”. Dlatego też centralnym problemem tego artykułu stała się analiza przebiegu i rezultatów kłótni i sporów, do których dochodzi w tego typu związkach.

Opis:: Many parents go through a marital crisis, including some who take part in workshops on education skills. For five years, the author has been leading workshops entitled “Bless Children”. The programme of the workshop is similar to the programme of the well-known in Poland “School for Parents and Educators” (based on the book by A. Faber and E. Mazlish How to Talk so Kids Will Listen & Listen so Kids will Talk), but it also includes Marhsall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication approach and some aspects of Christian spirituality. The author’s goal was to examine opportunities and risks related to participation in the workshops on education skills of parents in a marital crisis. The author used the individual case study method and the participant observation technique, in some cases supported by an analysis of e-mails. The goal of the study was achieved partially, which is why the conducted research should be considered a pilot project. the results allowed to draw practical conclusions, which could be useful for leaders of workshops on education skills.

Opis:: Artykuł podejmuje problematykę religijności nupturientów oraz małżonków widzianą jako kryterium jakości narzeczeństwa i małżeństwa. Pierwsza część artykułu prezentuje kryteria dojrzałej religijności. Tylko taka bowiem religijność może być związana z kształtowaniem zarówno ogólnej jakości życia człowieka, jak również życia w związku małżeńskim. Część druga artykułu nawiązuje do teorii jakości związku autorstwa Grahama Spaniera i Roberta Lewisa. Model tych autorów uznawany jest za najszerzej obejmujący swym zakresem znaczeniowym omawiane pojęcie, czyli jakość związku małżeńskiego. Trzecia część artykułu ukazuje związki religijności z ogólną jakością małżeństwa, z komunikacją interpersonalną oraz z rozumieniem miłości.
The article deals with the issue of the religiousness of nupturients and married couple perceived as the criterion of the quality of the engagement period and marriage. The first part of the article presents the criteria of mature religiousness. Only such religiousness may be connected with shaping the overall quality of people’s life and the quality of living in marital relationship. The second part of the article relates to the theory of the quality of marital relationship by Graham Spanier and Robert Lewis. Their model seems to be the widest-ranging in terms of the meaning of the issue in question, namely the quality of marital relationship. The third part of the article presents the connection between religiousness and the overall quality of marriage with interpersonal communication and the understanding of love.
