In this article there have been presented examples of texts written by people with only primary education. On the basis of linguistic analysis it has been stated that all of them use the same language code. The deliberation was based on the theory of language deeply rooted in a social context. It has been concluded that it is not only primary socialisation in the form of family context which contributes to linguistic development, but first of all, it is a decent education. Nevertheless, biological predisposition, e.g. intelligence can enhance shaping the developed linguistic code, even in children from neglected backgrounds, on the condition that they will be supported by the system of education.

Because of the formal and non-formal changes which are taking place in Polish higher education, the role and function of the university is also changing. Contemporary Polish students consider higher education as one of the phases of their career. The new generations of students expect rapid and effective education, perceiving academic education as a purchase of services or professional training.  The aim of the study was to diagnose if those trends are visible also in the processes of communication between the students and the academic staff. To verify this thesis, the author diagnoses the language expression of students, in the form of essay writing. Expressions were analysed quantitatively and were correlated with some chosen indicators of the students social background. Results indicated that students language expression could be divided into three types: mixed, restricted and elaborate expression. Each of those types can be classified as social codes, which have their own features. Gathered data only partially confirmed the hypothesis tested by the author. Because of the low scale of the study, it can only be considered an inspiration for other researchers and future studies on a high-scale level.

The article outlines the sociolinguistic parameters of language attitudes in terms of speech behaviour. The choice of language as a native tongue and the choice of language code in a multilingual environment and speech activity within the same language determine the balance between the rational and emotive attitude to language. Language priorities, language orientation and language competence and assessment of status, prestige and the power of language are the main indicators that show an attitude to language in specific speech situations and communicative situations. The analysis of their impact on linguistic behaviour is the basis for a forecast of the language situation in Ukraine.

Opis:
In this paper a standardised language code for rail freight operations is developed that aims to facilitate communication between dispatchers, train drivers and traffic managers when running freight trains abroad. In developing the language code the existing situation in the bi-lingual Belgian railways has been taken as a starting point. Communication codes from public services like police, fire brigade, ambulance and military services have been studied. It is believed that, if implemented, the code will improve significantly integrated rail freight services in Europe.
W niniejszej pracy zaprezentowano rozwój standaryzowanego kodu językowego dla obsługi pociągów towarowych, którego celem jest ułatwienie komunikacji pomiędzy dyspozytorami, motorniczymi oraz zarządzającymi ruchem podczas wysyłania pociągów towarowych za granicę. W rozwoju kodu językowego, w obecnej sytuacji, na początek zwrócono uwagę na dwujęzyczne koleje belgijskie. Kody komunikacyjne dla służb publicznych takich jak policja, straż pożarna, karetki pogotowia oraz wojsko zostały przeanalizowane. Wierzy się, że wraz z wprowadzeniem kodów zintegrowany transport kolejami towarowymi w Europie zdecydowanie się polepszy.

In the modern era the use of English has become very widespread, the language being used more and more by non-native speakers in a variety of contexts. The objective of the paper is to explore the use of the English language as a second and as a foreign language by bilingual Polish-English and Hindi-English speakers in the medium of Computer Mediated Communication, represented in the following study by the social network context, in order to demonstrate differences in the use of the language by the two groups, stemming from the status of English in the two respective circles, the Outer and the Expanding. The particular aspects of analysis include the frequency of the use of English, the length of the English posts and, notably, the phenomenon of code-switching, its typology and the functions which the respective languages typically perform in the switched elements.

The twentieth century has developed three models for describing contemporary art. Three narratives dominated in the 1930’s and the 1940’s: Paris-French, German-Expressionist and avant-garde-international. In the 1950’s and the 1960’s, avant-garde-centrist model included two basic phases or formations in the art of the twentieth century. Historical avantgarde period covered the years 1905–1930. Neo-avant-garde lasted from 1955 to 1970. To a pair of avant-garde – neo-avant-garde, some authors add yet proto-avant-garde they considered as the nineteenth century artistic trends leading to the birth of the historical avant-garde - romanticism, realism of Courbet, impressionism, post-impressionism and on the other hand post-avant-garde, or art after the fall of the avant-garde. In the 1980’s and the 1990’s, avant-garde model was superseded by a model operating the opposition modernism - postmodernism. According to that model, the twentieth century art include two cultural and artistic formations: modernist and postmodernist formations. The first experienced its climax around 1910, when abstract art was born; the second in the 1980’s. Modernism and postmodernism can be considered as two codes that define literary (artistic) codes, but there is a significant difference between them. The modernist code reveals modernist essentialist attitude, the trend of looking for essence, individuality, specificity of art, trying to melt pure art, while postmodernist code refers to the avant-garde and the expanded field of art, focusing on the relationship of art and life.

The following article considers the concept of the trichotomous arrangement of codeprocesses involved in acquiring foreign languages. It particularly focuses on the site, course, and results of processes whereby foreign-language structures are encoded. The processes of encoding known foreign-language structures take place: first, during the completion of consolidating exercises that aim at attaining appropriate proficiency; second, in the course of decoding and coding foreign-language information; and third, in the course of ego-centered communicative processes, in which the language user fulfills the function both of sender and of receiver.

This article is devoted to the phenomenon of such quotation of foreign language lexemes whereby their form depends on the syntactic requirements of the language in which the main text is written, e.g. “dojść do соглашения”. Connections of this type can sometimes also be found in scientific publications, e.g. in articles in Polish describing the Russian language (lexical or grammatical issues, etc.) or Russian cultural and political realities. The study analyses this phenomenon on the basis of selected examples. In sentences quoting foreign language material in this way, the boundary between two languages (e.g. Ukrainian and Polish, Belarusian and Russian, etc.) and their respective syntactic systems is blurred.
W artykule omówione zostało zjawisko takiego przytaczania leksemów obcojęzycznych w tekście, w którym ich forma staje się zależna od wymagań składniowych języka, w jakim napisany jest tekst podstawowy, por. np. „dojść do соглашения”. Połączenia tego typu można czasami spotkać także w publikacjach naukowych, np. w artykułach w języku polskim, opisujących język rosyjski (leksykalnie, gramatycznie itd.) lub np. rosyjskie realia kulturowe i polityczne. W artykule zjawisko to zostało przeanalizowane na podstawie wybranych przykładów. W zdaniach operujących omawianym typem przytaczania materiału obcojęzycznego dochodzi do zacierania granicy pomiędzy dwoma językami (np. ukraińskim i polskim, białoruskim i rosyjskim) oraz ich systemami składniowymi.

W artykule dokonano charakterystyki dwóch składników procesu porozumiewania się: kodu i kontaktu. Punktem wyjścia uczyniono autorską koncepcję niemowności i niemówienia oraz lingwistyki komunikacji alternatywnej i wspomagającej AAC. Wynika z tego, że kontekst analiz zawiera dwie podstawowe składowe: osoby mówiące, czyli posługujące się językiem naturalnym, oraz osoby pozbawione możliwości mówienia, czyli posługujące się jakąś protezą mowy i/lub systemem AAC. Pomimo braku komunikacyjnej symetrii ich wzajemne porozumienie się jest możliwe i dokonuje się nie tylko w ramach dyskursu terapeutycznego. Dzieje się tak dzięki operacyjnemu wykorzystaniu potencjału kodowego komunikacji oraz gotowości do kontaktu jej uczestników. W związku z powyższym nadrzędnym celem tekstu jest ukazanie roli kodu i kontaktu jako składowych aktu mowy w sytuacji komunikacyjnej osób niemownych i niemówiących.
This paper is an analysis of two components of communication – code and contact. The starting point is author’s conception of speaking little and not speaking at all and the linguistics of augmentative and alternative communication. It indicates that the context for analysis includes two basic components: speaking persons, persons using natural language, and persons deprived of the capacity to speak and therefore utilizing a speech prosthesis or/ and the AAC system. Despite lack of symmetry of communication the mutual understanding is possible and is effected not only within the framework of a therapeutic discourse. It is possible due to utilizing the code potential of communication and readiness of participants of communication.

The subject of this paper is a mixed variant of German which arose in large urban agglomerations with participation of mixed youth, indigenous German youth and youth of German lineage. The text outlines historical phenomena, and also linguistic theories which underlie and account for the diversity of mixed code with regard to the standard language.

Bilingual code-mixed (hybrid) languages have become very popular in India as a result of the spread of technology in the form of television, the Internet, and social media. Due to this increase in the use of code-mixed languages in day-to-day communication, the need for maintaining the integrity of the Indian languages has arisen. As a result of this, a tool named Hinglish to Pure Hindi and English Translator was developed. The tool is capable of translating in three ways; namely, Hinglish into pure Hindi and English, pure Hindi into pure English, and vice versa. The tool has achieved an accuracy of 91% in giving Hindi sentences and of 84% in giving English sentences as output when the input sentences were in Hinglish. The tool has also been compared with another similar tools.

The discussion addresses the linguistic code and its contribution to the development of the codematic theory of foreign-language teaching. This theory deals with the essence and properties of the course of processes of coding and decoding foreign-language structures. Teachers and learners participate in these processes as primary and secondary senders and receivers of transmitted lexical-grammatical structures with the aim of learners’ mastering them. The process of learning and mastering foreign-language structures takes place in two stages, that is, during their decoding and construction in the form of structural matrices in the receiver’s appropriate memory. In this way, in the receiver (learner) there forms a warehousing mechanism with regard to the foreign language. This mechanism is equipped with a receptive and (re)productive functioning force, that is a force that activates the structural matrices. Structural matrices in long-term memory attain the appropriate force of activation, and therefore demand constantly being brought up to date in various syntagmatic-syntactic constructions, that is in the process of their encoding.

This paper discusses cyberinformation studies of the chemical elements composition in nature, in particular the identification of scientific terminology that could describe this phenomenon, ie, the study of biochemical information, as well as the relationship between the digital language of chemical elements and theoretical aspects of this elements and cybernetics. In digital pictures of biochemistry, physical and chemical parameters are in a strict submission to programmed, cyber and information rules. Greetings and wishes comprehended as acts of etiąuette expressed at different occa- sions are the subject of the article. The author analyses wishes sent on post cards prepared for various occasions dating to the 20,h and 21st century. The point of reference for such expression are:1. local newspapers and magazines - the published ready wishes,2. electronic mail - electronic versions of cards for different occasions.The common feature of the above is the possibility of joining the graphic and the lan- guage codę as well as the possibility of sending the wishes on a massive scalę.The relationship between text and time is treated as the influence of time on the text of the wishes. The aim of the article is the observation whether the wishes undergo a change with the passing of time, for example in the course of the century, which aspects - styli- stic-language aspect or the universal hierarchy of values - undergo change and finally for which reasons.

The paper is concerned with teachers' and students' alternation between L1 and L2 within the same utterance, i.e. uses of intra-sentential code-switching which in classroom discourse tends to be less accepted by modern language pedagogy than its inter-sentential counterpart. The rationale for the study is the universal nature of the phenomenon known to occur in the first place in interactions among natural bilinguals and multilinguals. The data analysis sections of the article review eight different patterns which are evaluated pedagogically. It transpires that the category most likely to arouse methodological controversy is code-mixing.
