Opis:
The subject of the study is martensitic 22MnB5 steels, which are used in the automotive industry. The main purpose of the performed analyses is a study of strength differences in heat affected zones of the spot welding. For the needs of the strength decrease assessment, the critical layer of the heat affected area was experimentally simulated. The aim of the work is to determine the most suitable methodology for evaluating the local changes of the elastic-plastic material response. The aim of this work is to determine the optimal methods for the determination of the yield strength and to find a firming trend in these zones.

Opis:
A rapidly increasing number of mandibular condylar fractures and some complications related to injuries of temporomandibular elements make this study important. Intra-articular disorders lead to secondary pathological findings such as osteoarthritis, deforming osteoarthrosis, and temporomandibular joint ankylosis that limits mouth opening, mastication, swallowing, breathing, and decreased/lost working capacity or disability. Early diagnosis of intra-articular disorders can prevent from long-lasting functional complications caused by temporomandibular joint injuries. This study was performed for the purpose of early detection and investigation of organic pathological changes in the cartilaginous and osseous tissues of the temporomandibular joint caused by traumatic fractures of the mandibular condyle. Twenty patients underwent a general clinical examination, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and immune-enzyme testing for biochemical markers of connective tissue injury (pyridinoline and deoxypyridinoline) in urine. Disk dislocation, deformation, adhesion, perforation or squeeze, tension or disruption of ligaments, and injury of articular surfaces are among complications of mandibular fractures that can be revealed on MRI. As regards biochemical findings, we revealed a sharp rise in the levels of pyridinoline and deoxypyridinoline before treatment and a lack of stabilization within 21 days of treatment.

Opis:
Plate fixation is a commonly used surgical method in clavicular fracture treatment. The main purpose of this treatment is making the painless shoulder girdle and bring the functions to the optimum level. Plate fixation position still remains controversial. We aimed to investigate the effect of the plate position in clavicle midshaft fractures during shoulder movements. Methods: A normal anatomical shoulder joint was modeled using computed tomography images. A fracture line was created on the clavicle. Plate was placed superior to the clavicle in group 1 and anterior in group 2. The impacts of joints, plates, screws, ligaments and clavicle have been shown during 150° flexion and abduction movements of the shoulder by finite element analysis. Analyzes were made non-linear using ANSYS (version 18) and the same boundary conditions were applied in all models. Results: The load values in the plate, screws, ligaments, and clavicle were higher in group 1 than group 2 during abduction and flexion movements. Especially the load on the ac ligament was excessive. Load value in the glenohumeral joint was found similar both groups. The load values in the flexion movement were higher than the abduction movement in both groups. Conclusions: Anterior clavicle plating provides less stress on material and shoulder girdle, compared to superior plating, during shoulder abduction and flexion movements.

Opis:
The quality of welded joint is an assumption of long-term reliability in operation. On the contrary, defective work of bad quality welded joint leads to fracture and crashes of plants. In this paper the authors state that experimentally obtained causes of rails and pipes fractures were the result of bad realization of welded joint. Pores, blowholes, slags, lack of fusion, non-plastic non-metallic particles, cracks, shrink holes were the defects observed in the welded joint area. These defects substantially decreased the load-bearing cross section and the final result was fracture. The railway and high-pressure gas lines out of operation are undesirable and accompanied by considerable financial losses.
