    The paper is devoted to the issue of facilitating transport processes in intelligent high bay warehouses. The presented solutions are based on a real enterprise where inefficiencies and bottlenecks have been identified, processes occurring in the transport system of the high bay warehouse have been analysed. Based on real data, the concept of implementation of a telematics system has been elaborated and verified by means of Anylogic programme. While designing a simulation model of the analysed process, a discrete nature of the phenomena was established (e.g. vehicles coming to the warehouse at different time intervals). The simulation tools reflected non-determining parameters as well as dynamics of phenomena occurring in the transport process. For these purposes research has been done on probability distributions of parameters such as the time for preparation of delivery acceptance zone, the time for unloading a delivery (including transportation to intermediate storage areas), duration of a quality check. The simulation research confirms the adequacy of the elaborated concept.

    Mobility supported via transportation processes are the engine to economic growth of any country. Unfortunately, the existing infrastructure cannot keep up with both growth of population and people mobility, especially in the developing countries. One of the main problem in transportation processes in Africa are accidents caused among others by reckless driving, fatigue, and illegal overloading, as well as poor transportation infrastructure. To improve transportation-oriented safety and drastically reduce transport based accidents and the unnecessary loss of lives are the main today important goal. Can this goal be achieved using telematics? Telematics is a fast-growing industry and it is interesting for various applications and places around the world. The subject of the article is the concept of transport telematics system and its introduction on the example of Burundi. In most cases, intelligent transport system applications in Africa are focused on: traffic monitoring using CCTV cameras, automatic number plate recognition systems, automatic vehicle location systems, and variable traffic management systems.

    The result expansive development in urban and suburban areas have put in a difficult situation in terms of sustainable development, where pollution, traffic congestion and accidents, the strong negative external impact on the economy and health of citizens. All these problems are encouraged to develop new global strategies for sustainable urban transport. The strategies relate only a wide range of mitigation measures, but also use innovative technologies and infrastructures. The concept of an efficient, effective and safe transport prevails today in the new transport policy. Among the innovative technologies and infrastructures, it should be noted that the use of telematics systems for transport provides for several measures to enable the route and means of transportation that help reduce the time and route of travel, while searching for the increase traffic volume, a better level of service roads, and the rationalization of consumption and emissions, as well as inspection services and information in real time. The introduction of these systems should lead to the development of research population movement and settlement, with improved popular routes, in order to optimize the introduction of TST (Transport System Telematics).

    The article presents opportunities for the Intelligent Transport System for the city of Wroclaw. In the first part the authors illustrate the current state of the system. The next section presents the results of studies into roads in the city of Wroclaw. The survey respondents were included, i.e. drivers, transport companies and employees of the police, the ambulance and fire brigade. The Author’s research tool was a questionnaire, and the study was conducted using a diagnostic survey. The remaining results show some disadvantages of the system and new perspectives of its development. On the basis of studies the authors presented improvements of the overall architecture of the system. This will allow the police and internships brigades to work more efficiently with primarily alert.

    Existing defi nitions for sustainable intelligent transport may vary and promote one particular dimension such as the environment (green transport), society (mass transport) or the economic dimension (eff ective and competitive transport). However, the sustainable intelligent transport is generally aimed at balancing the economic, social and environmental dimensions of the sector in an integrated manner to ensure synergies, complementarities, and coherence. The sustainable intelligent transport systems require, among other following features: the ability to provide safe means of transport socially inclusive, affordable, reliable, affordable and fuel/energy efficient, environmentally friendly, low-carbon and resilient to shocks and disturbances, including those caused by climate change and natural disasters. The three basic pillars of a sustainable transport system include economic, social and environmental aspects related to technology. The subject of the paper is the concept of the sustainable intelligent transport system on the Iraq example.

    Artykuł powstał na podstawie analiz prowadzonych w latach 2011-2013 przez działającą przy Instytucie Transportu Samochodowego Polską Platformę Inteligentnych Systemów Transportowych (PPT ITS). Przedstawiono w nim, czym są Inteligentne Systemy Transportowe. Omówiono ich znaczenie w kształtowaniu koncepcji zrównoważonego transportu w Europie. Opisano główne obszary problemowe związane z wdrażaniem ITS w Polsce oraz postulaty zmian w tym zakresie. Przedstawiono przykłady dobrych praktyk oraz wskazano głównych graczy rynku ITS w Polsce.
    The article was written on the basis of the analyses conducted in 2011-2013 by the Polish Technology Platform for Intelligent Transport Systems (PPT ITS) operating within the framework of the Motor Transport Institute. The article outlines Intelligent Transport Systems and discusses their significance for the development of the concept of sustainable transportation in Europe. It also describes major problem areas related to the implementation of ITS in Poland and postulates changes in that respect. It presents examples of good practices and lists major players on the ITS market in Poland.

    In the modern economy we may observe a very rapid development of telematics systems. The authors of this paper present a mathematical model facilitating determination of telematics system’s reliability in internal transport on a production line of a selected enterprise. Due to the fact that the transportation telematics system operates in the areas of determinist and indeterminist (uncertain, of incomplete fuzzy observation) environments, a model combining the Bayes classifier with fuzzy sets has been proposed. Moreover, in this paper the authors indicate a possibility of adjusting the model to other telematics systems used in a variety of sectors of the economy. As the telematics systems operate in determinist and indeterminist areas, and the system’s reliability depends on all of its symptoms, therefore a combination of these two theories was essential to be able to describe a risk of their operation.

    Systemy telematyki drogowej i wspomagania kierowców mogą stanowić prawdziwą okazję do wspierania mobilności i poprawy bezpieczeństwa. Niezależnie od tego konieczne jest jednak opracowanie ich zgodnie z wymaganiami i potrzebami użytkownika, w celu zapewnienia ich odpowiedniości i wykrycia potencjalnych szkodliwych skutków szerszego zastosowania.

    Opis:
    The concept of eCall automatically informing system of traffic accidents is one of the key-points of the European initiative eSafety and aims to create a Pan-European system of quick notification of traffic accidents. The system will use the telephone 112 or E112. The accident data will be transferred to emergency points. The estimation of costs and profits of the eCall system within the E-MERGE project and research SeiSS6 shows a possibility of avoiding even 2500 deaths a year and diminishing the results of accidents by about 15% on European scale. This paper presents rules of the eCall system operation and introduces some problems associated with the system implementation. The paper includes the eCall infrastructure, legal problems and the data transmission from a vehicle to a PSAP centre. The following technical issues are being discussed as well: accidents detection, ICT communication and data transmission in the voice channel.
