This paper contains formulation of a parametric method for evaluation of SWATH ship’s hull resistance. The method was elaborated on the basis of numerical calculation results obtained by using structural methods based on ship hydrodynamic theory and performed for sufficiently large series of body forms with systematically changing ship form parameters. Also, results of verifying investigations dealing with features of the method in question are presented by comparing the obtained resistance characteristics with those achieved by other authors as well as with ship model experimental test results. The obtained results of the verification indicate that the elaborated method can be useful in preliminary designing the SWATH ships.

Tetrazene [1-(5-tetrazolyl)-4-guanyltetrazene hydrate] is widely used in ordnance systems as a sensitizer of primer compositions, for use in both percussion and stab applications. It can be synthesized by reacting aminoguanidinium bicarbonate (AGB) with sodium nitrite (NaNO2) in the presence of acetic acid. However, little is known about its optimal synthesis parameters in the manufacturing process. In this study, Taguchi's experimental design method was used to further improve the yield of tetrazene. Under the condition that the molar ratio of AGB to NaNO2 was fixed at 1.0:1.2, a L9(33) orthogonal array with three control factors and three levels for each control factor was used to design nine experimental conditions. The experimental data were transformed into a signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio to analyze and evaluate the experimental conditions of the optimal parameter combination for the maximum yield of tetrazene. Verification of the results indicated that the optimal synthesis parameters were as follows: pH value of AGB solution was 5.0, reaction temperature was 35 °C and reaction time was 6 h; the maximum yield of tetrazene could reach 83.7%. Furthermore, the synthesized tetrazene was identified and characterized by elemental analysis (EA), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), optical microscopy (OM),particle size distribution analysis (PSDA), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and its impact sensitivity was determined using a BAM Fallhammer apparatus and the Bruceton analysis method.

In the paper, we demonstrate the feasibility of interdigital electrodes fabrication with the usage of inkjet printing technology. The emphasis was put to obtain better shape quality and lower spacing between electrodes with respect to typical printing process. The paper presents an analysis of the main factors that have an influence on the dimension and quality of printed structures and proposes two methods that allow eliminating the main problems. The first proposed method is based on controlling the time between patterning of successive drops. While the second method is based on changing the design methods considering printing orientation. Both methods do not require any additional technological processes or the use of any special surface preparation methods. Finally, the obtained results and conclusions were presented and discussed.

Postulat sensownego wykorzystywania lokalnych zasobów w projektowaniu urbanistycznym wydaje się kwestią niebudzącą większych sporów. W praktyce jednak nader często spotykamy się z sytuacjami „straconych okazji”, czyli właśnie niewykorzystanych czy wręcz zaprzepaszczonych zasobów lokalnych albo konfliktów w sytuacji konieczności trudnego wyboru dotyczącego tego, który z identyfikowanych lokalnych zasobów warto wykorzystać. Przedsięwzięcia inwestycyjne, podejmowane zwykle przez samorząd, bywają wspierane opracowaniami studialnymi, na ogół jednak wykonywanymi już po podjęciu ogólnych kluczowych decyzji. W artykule rozważane są uwarunkowania i możliwości zmian w procesie przedprojektowym, które dałyby szansę na lepsze gospodarowanie zasobami lokalnymi.
The postulate of reasonable use of local resources in urban design seems to be a matter of little dispute. In practice, however, we often encounter situations of "missed opportunities", i.e. unused or even wasted local resources, or conflicts when faced with a difficult choice as to which of the identified local resources should be used. Investments usually undertaken by the local government, are sometimes supported by studies, but usually carried out after the general key decisions have been made. The article considers the conditions and possibilities of changes in the pre-project process, which would give a chance for better management of local resources.

In this work, thermo-mechanically treated 42CrMo steel was subjected to cryogenic treatment conducted by means of orthogonal design method, followed by low-temperature tempering to investigate the effect of different parameters of cryogenic treatment on wear resistance of 42CrMo steel and to optimize parameters of cryogenic treatment for improving wear resistance. The results of hardness test and wear test show that cryogenic treatment significantly improves wear resistance with marginal changes in coefficient of friction and hardness. Specifically, cryogenic temperature has the largest impact on wear resistance of 42CrMo steel, holding time has medium impact, and the parameter of treatment cycles has the least impact. The optimum parameters of cryogenic treatment are -196°C for 12 hours with one cycle for improving wear resistance. The results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD) analysis indicate that marginal changes in hardness and coefficient of friction may be owing to little amount of transformation of retained austenite, and the significant influence of cryogenic treatment on improving wear resistance of 42CrMo steel can be mainly attributed to segregation of carbon atoms promoted by cryogenic treatment resulting in more precipitation of carbides in subsequent tempering.

At the present day, the duration of product life is much shortened as a result of the customer demands changing rapidly and intensive competition. The customary design and production technologies have remained incapable against such hard conditions and consequently new concepts and methods have arisen. One of those concepts is “Mechatronics Engineering”. The mechatronics design method is based on an integrated approach to form the design eventuating in mainly match-purpose products instead of sequential design. The basic combination of the mechatronics approach is based on the usage of system model and simulation through prototype stages. The first step in development of the mechatronics systems is analyzing customer demands and the technical frame in which the system is combined. Generally the Mechatronics Design Process is rounded up the under seven mean headings. At the present day, remote controlled robotic systems are required for various purposes such as research, education, commerce etc. The target in this study is to design a remote controllable robot equipped with control capability with a robotic arm, to be developed following the Mechatronics Design Processes and used for the purpose of bomb defusing.

Quayside container crane is a kind of large dimension steel structure, which is the major equipment used for lifting container at modern ports. With the aim to ensure the safety and reliability of the crane under seismic loads, an anti-seismic device is designed. To validate the efficiency and reliability of the anti-seismic device, elastic-plastic time history analysis under rare seismic intensity is carried out. And the results of elastic-plastic time history analysis when the crane installed anti-seismic device and uninstalled the device are compared.

The purpose of this article is an application of experiment design method for describing of generalized drying kinetics. Generalized kinetic equation for the first drying period as the linear dependence of the material moisture content vs. drying time and temperature is obtained. For determination of generalized kinetic equation the limited number of experimental data (only two moisture contents of a material for two temperatures of drying agent) is needed. The comparison of calculations of generalized kinetic equation with experimental data for convection drying of sludge and for convectional drying of cotton fabric in the first drying period are fulfilled. The mathematical modification of the two-period model of drying kinetics over the entire drying process is obtained. This modified model permits to avoid of the determination of a characteristic drying time. The comparison of drying kinetic calculations with experimental data for convection drying of sludge in the first and second drying periods for four temperatures using of experiment design method was fulfilled. As follows from calculations, the experimental data of sludge correspond well to the lines obtained through the factorial design which means that this method can successfully be used to determine constant drying rates, total kinetics and the influence of temperature in drying process.

Background. The paper presents the conceptual and empirical examinations of the innovation generation process which is one of the most significant dynamic processes taking place within an organization. The generation of innovation is presented as a sequence of stages, progressing from idea generation through its development to the market introduction of the generated solution and it is considered at the organizational level. Research aims. The purpose of the paper is to examine the broad sets of factors that influence the innovation generation process in the organizational, top managers’ and environmental context. Method. By using the Delphi survey conducted among 264 experts representing a diverse professional and academic experience, the study analyses the perceived significance of each factor for the various stages of the innovation generation process. Key findings. The results of the analysis indicate that the considered factors do not affect the innovation generation process with the same strength but exert varying levels of influence on the subsequent stages. Implications of these findings as well as the suggestions for future research are also discussed.

Opis:
Structural design requirements for flexible culverts are available in several international bridge design codes. Examples are the Canadian (CHBDC), the American (AASHTO) and the Swedish (TRVK Bro ll2). The designation “flexible culvert” may today be somewhat misleading. The word culvert is usually associated with small pipes in road embankments. However, over the years flexible culverts have grown bigger and a more proper designation would be bridges. Therefore, these structures are often also referred to as Soil-Steel Composite Bridges or just Soil-Steel Bridges. With this development also new and more stringent requirements on the structural design follows. In this paper key aspects of a holistic design approach based on the authors experience on the essentials of flexible culvert structural design3 are outlined and is compared to the current design approaches in the CHBDC and the TRVK Bro 11. However, this paper will provide insight into how the holistic design topics are addressed in current design codes and future research and development.

У статті охарактеризовано сучасну парадигму освіти в Україні й умотивовано логіку використання інноваційних методів навчання. Авторка уточнює поняття інноваційних методів, до яких зараховує не тільки новостворені, але й традиційні, які набувають нових якісних ознак у процесі пристосування до вимог сучасної освіти. Значну увагу приділено аналізові проектного, дослідницького, ситуаційного та інтерактивного методів навчання мови, оскільки вони спрямовані на активність, самостійність, креативність, соціальну взаємодію учасників навчального процесу і здатні створити умови, максимально наближені до реальних професійних ситуацій.
The article describes the modern paradigm of education in Ukraine and explains the need of innovative teaching methods. The author clarifies the concept of innovative methods, which include not only recently created, but also traditional ones, which acquire new qualitative features in the process of adapting to the requirements of modern education. The author also focuses on the analysis of projects, researches, as well as situational and interactive methods of language teaching. These methods are aimed at activity, autonomy, creativity, social interaction of participants in the educational process, thus can create conditions that are as close as possible to real professional situations.

Opis:
We present a systematic nonlinear procedure for designing microwave oscillators utilising a nonlinear PHEMT model, the negative resistance approach and the describing function concept. The procedure is applied in the design of a 24 GHz oscillator, which is then realised in hybrid technology. Measurement results show - 6% shift in the frequency but an acceptable agreement in the output power. A detailed analysis shows that the frequency shift arises mainly from inadequate CAD models in the K band, for the microstrip components employed in our design.

Referat zawiera opis badań związanych z mieszankami mineralno–cementowo-emulsyjnymi (MCE). Zostały opisane dotychczasowe doświadczenia związane z oceną odcinków dróg wykonanych z wykorzystaniem tej technologii, ich stan techniczny oraz występujące uszkodzenia po kilku latach eksploatacji nawierzchni. Przedstawione zostaną wyniki badań mieszanek mineralno-cementowo-emulsyjnych prowadzone w celu optymalizacji składu tych mieszanek. W końcowej części publikacji zostanie przedstawiona nowa instrukcja do projektowania mieszanek MCE, jaka powstała w wyniku prowadzonych prac.
The paper describes the researches related to mineral-cement-emulsion mixes (MCE). Previous experiences related to the assessment of road sections made using this technology are described, their technical condition and damage occurring after a few years of exploitation are discussed. In the paper will be presented the results of researches of mineral-cement-emulsion carried out in order to optimize the composition of these mixtures. In the final part of the publication will be presented the new standard method to design mineral-cement-emulsion mixes (MCE), which is the result of work carried out.
