“National literature” (kokubungaku) arose together with the modern national state, and as a building block of Japanese cultural identity, was subjected to cleansing from foreign influences. What was discarded was the “Chinese literature” (kanbungaku) – an intellectual foundation shared by the whole of Eastern Asia. Even though the ideology developed during the Meiji Period and was confronted with the WWII defeat, the tendency lingered and continued on after the war. The stress the university departments of “national literature” (or Japanese literature – Nihon bungaku) put on works created originally in local syllabic kana (instead of in “Chinese writing” – kanbun), like Genji monogatari (The Tale of Genji) or Makura no sōshi (The Pillow Book), give proof to that. On the other hand the year 1900 brought the discovery of the Dunhuang manuscripts. In Japan, the issue of portions of Tang dynasty texts and their old transcriptions, predating the versions compiled during the rule of the Song dynasty, no longer existing in China, have been brought to light since the publication of Keiseki hōkoshi (Bibliography of Chinese Classics), authored by Mori Risshi (1807-1885) among others. However the first ones to notice the Dunhuang documents were the Frenchman Paul Pelliot (1879-1945) and his coworker Luo Zhenyu (1866-1940), who started their research with the Tang dynasty texts preserved in Japan. An increased interest in Chinese classics can be noted at the southeast outskirts of the Chinese civilization area of influence in East Asia at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century. The “national literature”, however, partially dismissing this research, did not try to actively incorporate them into the field. After the cold war, the internationalization and globalization wave reached the world of “national literature” and the consecutive universities went on to change their administrative units’ names from “department of national literature” to “department of Japanese literature”. From the 1990’s research using the term “Eastern Asia” as a keyword is extensive, but this change does not translate into a quality shift in “national literature”. Japanese culture consists of two interconnected layers – Chinese culture and the native culture. The author’s area of research is Japanese kanbun, an intermediate text of sorts between Chinese and native writing. The article stresses the importance of kanbun and organizes the topic of quotations of Chinese classics (bunsen) – the excerpts from Tang dynasty texts (or their transcriptions) – like those that can be found in the diaries of Heian aristocrats, for one example of Japanese kanbun.

Zgodność zachowań z normami obowiązującego prawa jest oczywistą ogólną i powszechną zasadą wszystkich profesji prawniczych. W praktyce prawniczej jednak niekiedy zachowania zawodowe niektórych prawników odbiegają od tej normy. Zwykle tego rodzaju zachowania są bardzo zróżnicowane, ale mieszczą się w granicach między z jednej strony skrajnościami dramatyzmu i z drugiej strony skrajnościami komizmu. W niniejszym tekście znajdują się zwięzłe opisy i oceny treści publikacji dotyczących rzeczywistych komicznych zachowań prawników w polskim systemie wymiaru sprawiedliwości czasów międzywojnia, realnego socjalizmu i obecnych. Były to zdarzenia autentyczne, zebrane i osobiście zaobserwowane przez wieloletniego katowickiego prokuratora Zygmunta Ogórka, cieszącego się dużymi sukcesami zawodowymi i szerokim uznaniem społecznym. Zostały ujęte w bardzo atrakcyjnej dla czytelników formie klasycznych anegdot opublikowanych w trzech nagradzanych ich książkowych zbiorach. Zasługują na wnikliwe poznawanie nie tylko przez prawników, ponieważ w inteligentny sposób zarówno obnażają potknięcia zawodowe prawników, jak i sugerują, jak tego unikać.
Compliance with applicable laws in an obvious general and universal principle of the all legal professions. But sometimes the behavior of some professional lawyers differs from the rules. This kind of behavior is very varied, but within the limits between on the one hand drama and comic on the other extremes. This text includes concise descriptions and assessment of the content of publications concerning the real behavior of lawyers in the Polish justice system interwar, socialism and present times. There are authentic events heard and personally observed by the Katowice prosecutor Zygmunt Ogórek enjoying a successful professional and widely socially recognized. Publications haeve a very attractive form for readers of classic comic stories in three books collections. Are worthy of notice to insightful learning not only by lawyers as a mart way to both expose the stumbling professional lawyers and they suggest how to avoid it.

The awakening of Miss Prim is a novel that tells the story of Prudencia Prim in the small town of San Ireneo de Arnois. In the novel, Prudencia is surprised by the way of life of the irenites, who seem to despise the modern world. The novel serves as a framework for ideas that go far beyond the plot. It is a reflection on the value of truth, good and beauty and how they crystallized in Western civilization. This paper aims to shed some of the main ideas that give substance to the novel and gauge its value. In particular, the relationship between the present and the past, between tradition and progress and the option of accommodation or rebellion against current mainstream dynamics, will be valued. Finally, this paper will try to show how the whole novel revolves around the notion that there is a truth and that it is beautiful and what role that truth has in human life.

The author demonstrates how during the first decade of the 20th century the position of V. Dunin-Martsinkevich was gradually strengthened in Belarusian canon and how general estimation of his personality and his creative work changed.

Albert Lewis Kanter launched Classic Comics in 1941, a series of comic books that retold classic literature for a young audience. Five of Shakespeare’s celebrated plays appear in the collection. The popularity of Classics Illustrated encouraged Seaboard Publishing to issue a competitive brand, Stories by Famous Authors Illustrated (1949-51), which retold three Shakespearean dramas. Although both these enterprises aimed to reinforce a humanist perspective of education based on Western literature, the classic comics belie a Posthuman aesthetic by presenting Shakespearean characters in scenes and postures that recall Golden Age superheroes. By examining the Shakespearean covers of Classic Illustrated and Stories by Famous Authors, this essay explores how Shakespearean characters are reimagined as Superhuman in strength and power.

Niniejszy tekst wyrasta z potrzeby badań aktualnego świata wartości uczniów, którego obraz należy traktować jako fundament edukacyjnej refleksji i organizacji procesu dydaktycznego. Pierwszym punktem odniesienia dla wyżej wskazanego zagadnienia było przywołanie badań nad wizerunkiem aksjologicznym młodego pokolenia, które zostały przeprowadzone na przestrzeni ostatnich trzydziestu lat. Drugim polem odwołań były doświadczenia odbioru klasyki we współczesnej szkole. Wskazane w temacie zagadnienie było omówione w odniesieniu do zebranego materiału egzemplifikacyjnego – zapisu wypowiedzi uczniowskich, które powstawały na lekcjach języka polskiego poświęconych pierwszemu odbiorowi wybranych do analizy tekstów literackich. Analiza zgromadzonych wypowiedzi udokumentowała znaczące przesunięcia w obrębie uczniowskiego świata wartości – coraz wydatniejszą dewaluację wartości moralnych, relatywizację zasad etycznych, a także coraz znaczniejszą dominację wartości pragmatycznych, wiązanych z materialnym i wymiernym interesem jednostki. Wykazuje także coraz wyraźniejszy odwrót młodego pokolenia od obiektywistycznego myślenia o wartościach. W konkluzji autor tekstu zaznacza, że świadomość istniejącego stanu rzeczy może mieć ogromne znaczenie dla właściwej organizacji procesu dydaktycznego – pozwala chronić się przed działaniami naiwnymi i nieskutecznymi, umożliwia podjęcie działań adekwatnych do zdiagnozowanego stanu rzeczy, uruchomienia odpowiedniej strategii wychowawczej.
The following text emerges from the need to research student’s current world of values and the image of such world should be treated as the foundation for educational reflection and the organization of teaching process. The first point of reference for the issue mentioned above was referring to research on the axiological image of young generation, which was conducted within the last thirty years. The second point of reference are the experiences regarding the reception of classic literature at modern school. The issue mentioned in the topic has been discussed in reference to the exemplifying material, which constituted the record of student’s opinions gathered during Polish language classes regarding the very first reception of a literary text chosen for discussion. The analysis of those opinions revealed a significant shift in the area of students’ values, i.e. a clearer devaluation of moral values, relativization of ethical principles, as well as stronger domination of pragmatic values connected with material and tangible interest of an individual. This text also shows a clear withdrawal of young generation from the objective consideration of values. At the end, the author emphasizes that the awareness of such state of things could be of utmost importance to a proper organization of educational processes, as it allows to prevent naïve and inefficient activities and makes it possible to take adequate actions in order to diagnose the state of things and implement appropriate didactic strategies.

Dane literaturowe wskazują, że istnieje możliwość prowadzenia modyfikacji glinokrzemianów na drodze fizycznej lub chemicznej. Zabieg ten prowadzi się głównie poprzez wymianę kationów w przestrzeni miedzypakietowej w celu poprawy właściwości adhezyjnych i termostabilnych minerałów. W pracy przeprowadzono charakterystykę termiczną i strukturalną attapulgitu (APT) pod kątem jego zdolności do wymiany jonowej (CEC). Stwierdzono, że attapulgit jako naturalny minerał wykazuje niską wartość CEC w zakresie temperatury 23-700 °C w porównaniu do stosowanego szeroko montmorylonitu aktywowanego jonami sodu (MMT-Na). Niska wartość CEC attapulgitu wynika z jego budowy krystalicznej, stąd przeprowadzenie modyfikacji chemicznej APT stanowi kolejny etap prac w tym obszarze.
Literature data indicate that there is a possibility to carrying out the aluminosilicates modification by using a physical or chemical method. The modification process is mainly conducted by exchange of cations into space between layers of packet in purpose to improve the adhesiveness and thermostability of minerals. In this paper the thermal research and structural characteristic of the aluminimumsilicate from palygorskite group - attapulgite (APT) for determine its cation exchange capacity (CEC) were conducted. It was found that attapulgite as a natural mineral has low value of CEC in the temperature range 23-700 °C, compared to widely used montmorillonite activated by sodium ions (MMT-Na). Low values of CEC attapulgite is due to its crystalline structure, thus the conducting chemical modification APT is the next stage of work in this area.

The author of the article claims that Igor Żuk’s scientific heritage manifests long and lasting typological relationship on the level of ideas and contacts between Belarusian studies in Grodno and Bialystok. Igor Żuk’s coherent opinion concerning the development of Belarusian literature presented in the book “Ruch naprzeciw” turns to be particularly interesting. It expresses a new conceptual look at Belarusian perspective of historical-cultural and spiritual development. The context, analyzed in the article, is complemented by Igor Żuk’s valuable project “Central and peripheral factors in literary-cultural situation of Belarusian border”.
W artykule zwrócono uwagę na to, że naukowa spuścizna profesora Igora Żuka daje wszelkie podstawy do twierdzenia, że istnieje długa i trwała wzajemna relacja typologiczna między grodzieńską a białostocką białorutenistyką na poziomie idei i kontaktów. Szczególnie interesujący pod tym względem okazuje się pewien spójny pogląd Igora Żuka na rozwój literatury białoruskiej przedstawiony w książce „Ruch naprzeciw”, świadczący o nowym, konceptualnym spojrzeniu na białoruską perspektywę historyczno-kulturowego i duchowego rozwoju. Uzupełnia ten kontekst analizowany w tym artykule niezwykle wartościowy projekt Igora Żuka pt. „«Centralne» i «peryferyjne» czynniki w literacko-kulturowej sytuacji białoruskiego pogranicza”.

Formuła „walki romantyków z klasykami” wciąż powraca w rozprawach historycznoliterackich dotyczących początków polskiego romantyzmu. Stefan Kawyn, twórca antologii Walka romantyków z klasykami, wydanej w 1963 r., szeroko wykorzystując batalistyczną metaforykę, przedstawił konfrontację dwóch prądów, odbywającą się w czasopismach, prywatnej korespondencji i wierszach. Legenda walki, sięgająca korzeniami trzeciej dekady XIX w., w pracy Kawyna została wzmocniona i wzbogacona o nowe egzemplifikacje. Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje, w jaki sposób skonstruowano tę antologię: w polu uwagi znajdują się problemy selekcji i organizacji materiału, struktura tomu, komentarze edytorskie.
The formula of the “clash between Classics and Romantics writers” is still a recurring theme in the literary studies concerning the beginnings of the Polish Romanticism. Stefan Kawyn, the author of the anthology of 1963 Walka romantyków z klasykami (“The Clash between the Romantic and Classic Writers”), exposed the conflict between the representatives of the two literary movements and in order to do that skilfully, he frequently resorted to military metaphors. The conflict manifested itself widely on the pages of journals, private letters and in the poems as well. This almost iconic nature of the clash that dates back to 1820s was reinforced and enriched by Kawyn’s anthology. This article presents the way in which this influential anthology was constructed with its focal points referring to material selection, structure of the volume, and editor’s commentaries.

The reception of Alexander Pushin’s ‘little tragedy’ Mozart and Salieri – that was originally meant as a dramatic study of envy – by the Russian literary and theatre scholars, has tended to move in the direction of exhibiting two types of artistic creators: Mozart – the genius, an artist with a Godgiven talent, and Antonio Salieri – the craftsman-composer who practices his musical craft with great skill and, moreover, to using sensational plot devices, such as murder committed out of envy, and the eruptions of human passions and emotions. The authors of the latest versions of Mozart and Salieri, Nikolai Kolyada and Olga Boguslavskaya, make reference to the romantic original work by employing a model situation of contrasting two different types of artists, their opinions on the essence of art (brilliance and genius), and their disposition and ethical principles. They fill in the Pushkin’s pattern with the realities of artistic life in modern Russia. The authors use familiar quotations, situations and selected motifs and submit them to the conventions of the game, typical of the poetics of intertextuality. Thanks to the convention of the game (swapping roles, introducing contemporary themes, such as the role of cultural policy and television in building artistic careers), they manage to avoid the pathos and philosophical stigma of the original, providing, instead, a socio-cultural image of the creative individual’s fate in modern times.

Стаття присвячена проблемі культурного спротиву та модернізації української національної ідентичности за умов посилення імперського тиску в постуенерівський період. Ідеться про стратегії співіснування з переможцями, вироблені в колі київських неокласиків, про настанови на збереження культурного суверенітету попри демонстрування політичної лояльности до режиму. Поняття культурного спротиву виробляється у цій статті з допомогою аналітичного інструментарію постколоніалізму та студій пам’яти. Неокласики, зокрема Микола Зеров, зосередилися на простеженні європеїстських інтенцій вітчизняної літератури. Упривілейованим місцем спогаду стає у поезії Зерова та Рильського Київ. Для цієї мистецької спільноти він завжди зоставався культурною столицею, а реваншистське позбавлення міста столичного маєстату вони завжди сприймали як наругу переможців. Сам літературний побут неокласиків був інваріантом внутрішньої еміграції. Адресатом їхніх текстів бачився свій упривілейований читач, що також означало протистояння панівним концепціям масового, пролетарського мистецтва.
The article is devoted to the problem of cultural resistance and modernization of Ukrainian national identity in the conditions of intensification of imperial grip in the post-UNR period, after national revolution. It deals with the strategies of coexistence with the winners, which were developed in the community of neoclassics in Kyiv, about the preservation of cultural sovereignty while demonstrating political loyalty to the regime. The concept of cultural resistance is interpreted with the additional analytical tools of post-colonial studies and memory studies. Neoclassicists, especially Mykola Zerov, focused on the Europecentered trends in the country’s literature. Kyiv became a place of privilege in the poetry of Zerov and Rylskyi. For this creative community the city was still the cultural capital, and the revanchist divestiture of the city’s capital status was perceived as an act of victors’ revenge. The literary life itself appears to be an invariant of the inner emigration of neoclassics. The addressee of their texts was imagined as a privileged reader, which also meant resistance to dominant concepts of mass, proletarian art.

Artykuł przedstawia poetycką refleksję Wacława Oszajcy na temat arcydzieł malarstwa światowego. W swoich lirykach kapłan-poeta opisuje obrazy należące do klasyków malarstwa: Mona Lisę Leonarda da Vinci, obrazy Rembrandta (Powrót syna marnotrawnego, Ofiara Abrahama), tryptyk Hansa Memlinga Sąd Ostateczny i Ostatnia wieczerza Salvadora Dali. Jego wiersze są bardzo krótkie, zawsze stanowią próbę uchwycenia dramatycznego charakteru sceny. Spośród analizowanych wierszy Oszajcy najciekawszy, najcenniejszy wydaje się utwór o wizerunku Rembrandta Powrót syna marnotrawnego. Sprowadza się on do oskarżenia tytułowego bohatera; autor pomija ważne tematy biblijne - miłosierdzie i skruchę. Poemat Oszajcy opisuje nie tylko arcydzieła malarstwa, ale służy także przywołaniu mniej znanych obrazów - Crayera czy Mariana Malarza.
The article discusses poetic reflection of Wacław Oszajca on the masterpieces of world painting. In his lyric, the priest-poet describes paintings belonging to the classics of painting: Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci, paintings by Rembrandt = (Return of the prodigal son, Sacrifice of Abraham), Hans Memling’s triptych The Last Judgment, and The Last Supper of Salvador Dali. His poems are very short, they are always an attempt to capture the dramatic character of the scene. Among the analyzed poems by Oszajcy, the most interesting, the most valuable one seems to be the work about the image of Rembrandt The return of the prodigal son. It brings accusation of the title character; the author omits important biblical themes - mercy and remorse. Oszajca’s poem describes not only masterpieces of painting, but also serves to recall the lesser known paintings – Crayer or Marian Malarz.
