The paper deals with the concept of didactic approach to German Syntax from the point of view of students whose mother tongue is not German language. There exist many Grammars of German as foreign language (cf. Helbig/Buscha 2001). Nevertheless even in higher education of foreign students arise a lot of syntactic problems which need special treatment and specific explanation due to the lack of competence in German. Such items are for instance the pronoun es in different syntactic functions, the use of prepositions, the difference between verbal and nominal valency, the use of definite, indefinite, and zero article, verbs with double object compliments, and trends in everyday use of language.

The ageing of people is one of the most important social issues of the modern world. This is a global phenomenon, concerning all regions and almost all countries. This problem pertains also to Poland and Germany. The following article is based on empirical studies whose subject were the social competencies profiles of Polish and German students preparing for caregiving of the elderly people. The method of the study was a diagnostic survey, whereas the research instruments used in the study were PROKOS. Social Competencies Profile by A. Matczak and K. Martowska and The questionnaire for the analysis of motivation to work with elderly people for students of social wellbeing majors (self-constructed questionnaire). Research studies were carried out between October and December 2018. In Poland, they involved students from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin and the University of Rzeszów, while in Germany, students from universities of Münster, Osnabrück, Bielefeld and Wolfsburg. German students (200 people) constituted the main group, whereas the comparative group consisted of 167 Polish students. The results of the research demonstrated significant statistic differences in the range of all distinguished types of social competencies between the examined Polish and German groups of students (p < 0,001).

The purpose of this research was to determine the level of study competences among students of physical education. The study encompassed first-year students aged 18 to 26, who began their studies in 2010, 2011 and 2012. The Standard Progressive Matrices Plus, the Social Competence Questionnaire, the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, the Coping Orientation of Problem Experience Inventory, NEO Five-Factor Inventory, and the Multidimensional Self-Esteem Inventory were used. Students were characterised by a high level of study competence with regard to skills and personality. The study group was moderately homogeneous: the students starting their studies in consecutive three years did not significantly differ with respect to the analysed skills. This undermines the circulating opinions of lowering the level of competence of students in the recent years.

Marina Klimenko, a senior lecturer at the Universi-ty of Florida, developed an innovative digital textbook entitled Research Methods in the Social Sciences (2020) with the focus on investigative psychology. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the university education system in Albania to operate in distance through information and communication technologies. The purpose of this study is to explore students’ perceptions about accessibility, learner intentions, social and lecturer issues in online learning. In order to achieve the aim of the study, the quantitative method is used. The data are collected online through the completion of a survey which contains closed questions. The sample included in this study are students of bachelor and master degree (N = 236) who belong to the teaching programs from the University of Tirana and “Aleksander Moisiu” University of Durrës. The study points out some challenges faced by students during online learning which are related to online accessibility, lack of motivation of students and the barrier of their involvement in online group work activities. It was also noted that the online environment presents challenges for lecturers, which require a better mastery of digital competence by the academic staff. The findings of this study are designed to help policymakers, education executives and academic staff to have a clearer view and make the necessary interventions to overcome these challenges faced by students during online learning.

It is assumed that the university education positively impacts the student’s moral reasoning. The purpose of this research was to examine the Moral judgment competence MJC between systems and management students at a public university in Hidalgo, Mexico. The effectiveness of their curricula and the university years have impact on students’ moral judgment competence. Data was collected through survey exploration with the Moral Judgment Test completed by 272 administration students and 79 systems students of all semesters. The moral judgment competence was evaluated by C index. The C index score was higher for the management than the systems students. The C index score was slightly lower for senior than freshman students. The scholar years did not improve the senior students’ C index, more years of university career were not associated with the senior students’ C index score. Additionally, the results indicated that moral judgment Competence is the same in any gender of the students. Planned moral judgment competence in university curricula is necessary to improve students’ moral reasoning. In this paper, background, theoretical framework, results are discussed.

This article presents the principles of reconstruction of the semantic structure of the concepts of legal discourse and the methodology of evaluation of the results by involving a professionally oriented audience. The procedure was applied on the example of semantic structuring of the term “child” according to texts of international and Ukrainian legislation in the field of child protection. The article concretises and deepens the idea of the conceptual meaning of the term “child”, which combines common language (non-professional) and professionally oriented idea about reality. The associative-semantic experiment held for the purposes of the study set three areas of work: (1) checking the level of students’ knowledge of provisions on the rights of the child; (2) checking the knowledge of key legal terms in this domain and the ability to use them in legal proceedings; (3) teaching students to differentiate correctly between legal and general vocabulary in a given field. It was also established that the semantic structure of the term “child” in legislative texts is determined by associative subcomponents – semantic microfields “child and life”, “child and protection”, “child and health”, “child and family”, “child and freedom”, “child and dignity”, “child and development”, “child and work”, “child and well-being”, “child and crime”, “child and war”, the verbalisers of which are syntactic nominations of the child and the corresponding stereotypical statements that mean a right of the child.
Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia zasady rekonstrukcji struktury semantycznej pojęć dyskursu prawniczego oraz metodologię oceny jej wyników przy udziale odbiorców ukierunkowanych zawodowo. Procedurę zastosowano na przykładzie struktury semantycznej terminu „dziecko” zgodnie z tekstami ustawodawstwa międzynarodowego i ukraińskiego w zakresie ochrony dziecka. Artykuł konkretyzuje i pogłębia koncepcję pojęciowego znaczenia terminu „dziecko”, który łączy w sobie potoczne i zorientowane zawodowo wyobrażenie o rzeczywistości. Przeprowadzony na potrzeby badania eksperyment asocjacyjno-semantyczny wyznaczył trzy kierunki pracy: (1) sprawdzenie poziomu znajomości przez studentów przepisów dotyczących praw dziecka; (2) sprawdzenie obeznania z kluczowymi terminami prawnymi w tym zakresie i umiejętności posługiwania się nimi w postępowaniu prawnym; (3) wdrożenie studentów do prawidłowej dyferencjacji słownictwa prawniczego i ogólnego w danym zakresie. Ustalono również, że strukturę semantyczną terminu „dziecko” w tekstach prawnych wyznaczają asocjacyjne subkomponenty – mikropola semantyczne „dziecko i życie”, „dziecko i ochrona”, „dziecko i zdrowie”, „dziecko i rodzina”, „dziecko i wolność, „dziecko i godność”, „dziecko i rozwój”, „dziecko i praca”, „dziecko i dobrostan”, „dziecko i przestępczość”, „dziecko i wojna”, których werbalizatorami są nominacje syntaktyczne dziecka i odpowiadające im stereotypowe stwierdzenia, które oznaczają prawo dziecka.

Social competence (SC) is one of the most important competences required for successful performance of the teaching profession. Strengthening students’ social and emotional competences provides aid and support for lifelong learning and social and emotional implementation of the teaching process. By triangulating the results of a questionnaire, sociometry and interviews with students of teacher study, a significant level of social competence was observed. Students’ sociometric status is not in full accordance with their self-assessment of SC, so more frequent are the allocations of popular students, but one rejected. SC is usually acquired in the family; college is placed in second place, which increases the importance of this issue in terms of intentional education.

Opis:
On the basis of the analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature and empirical studies of the educational process in higher educational economic institution, the necessity of systematic teachers’ training for the organization of independent work of students, while studying mathematical disciplines, has been defined in this article. Taking into account modern requirements of scientific and pedagogical activities, the definition of "didactic competence of the teacher of mathematical disciplines" has been proposed as an important condition of organization of independent student’s work. The components of the didactic competence as a system unit have been characterized, namely motivational-value, cognitive, methodically-organizational and reflective components. To ensure a sufficient level of didactic competence of teachers of mathematical disciplines, it has been proposed to conduct trainings, consultations and interviews in accordance with the principles of coaching technology.

The aim of this paper is to explore the effectiveness of tandem classrooms in promoting intercultural communicative competence by comparing the competence of students before and after participation in tandem classes. This research is based on the descriptive statistics from a survey administered at a university in South Korea. The survey was conducted in 2016 during the second semester, and it used students who participated in tandem classrooms by employing a questionnaire to measure the effectiveness of the tandem classrooms in relation to intercultural communicative competence and the students’ perception of their own competence after completing the tandem classes. The result of the research shows that unlike the initial expectations, there is no meaningful sign that the surveyed students have developed intercultural communicative competence, which means that tandem classrooms did not actively help students improve this competence. In this study, an in-depth interview with students was also conducted in 2019 to find out why such a result occurred. Although tandem classrooms would be highly valuable as a language learning method, the approach may require redesigning and reimplementation in great detail to become a method for developing intercultural communicative competence. Therefore, this study highlights the underlying need for a revised curriculum for students attending tandem classrooms.

The article presents a training model aimed at the formation of sociocultural competence in 7-11 years old students from ethnic communities in Bulgaria, based on Geert Hofstede’s (2003) theory of culture. A schematical description of the teaching methodology of the model is offered as well as some results of a study among the trained students conducted according to pre-defined criteria and indicators. The article comprises methodological ideas for the formation of sociocultural competence in 7-11-year-old students in the conditions of digitalization considering the possibilities of the electronic textbooks, which are part of the compulsory educational content. It turns out that these textbooks are necessary for the purposes of training in the digital world, as well as for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aim. The research presents a division of soft skills important for better socialising and being. Methods. The main method was a questionnaire survey completed by 98 pupils in the 3rd year of the mentioned schools. Results. We briefly describe the findings of the self-reflective evaluations of the students of two high schools and how they perceive and appreciate their personality in terms of soft skills. We mainly focused on social and personality skills from several areas and divisions of soft skills. Conclusion. Education must pay more consistent attention to the development of these skills because it is soft skills and their use in life that will be key not only for the advancement of the individual but for the advancement of the entire society. Based on our findings from the questionnaire, we make some important recommendations for the students.

In the school year 2009/10 a mathematics achievement test was conducted on a sample of 576 students in the 3th grade of school. A mathematical skills test examined the ability to complete both simple and complex tasks. It also tested their aptitude for the application of knowledge to practical and problematic situations. The skills checked were mastered at a level of about 65%. Skills in geometrics were at a lower level - around 37%. Problem solving ability was mastered at a very low level. One of the reasons is that school pupils are usually under teacher guidance while solving simple typical tasks. Rarely do they solve them independently or collectively. The teacher does not allow the student to err in search of a solution, and problematic tasks rarely be found in text books.
