    Opis:
    This paper focuses on stained glass windows created from Jan Matejko’s design drawings, which were installed in the presbytery of the Przemyśl Cathedral. The iconographic analysis of this work of art, demolished in the wake of the World War II, reveals the complexity of its original design, full of religious and patriotic motifs. The paper presents attempts to circumscribe the analysis of the iconographic material within the historical context and to formally describe Matejko’s masterpiece.

    Opis:
    The aim of the paper is to present the results of a typological and chronological analysis of movable finds obtained during excavations at site no. 20 in Przemyśl in the years 2005–2007. The site covers the area located directly on the west side of the cathedral church, around the building of the former Cathedral School at the Cathedral Square. Due to the location of the site on the eastern side of the castle hill in the vicinity of the Romanesque rotunda of St. nicholas, this site is an important research point with reference to Przemyśl. The remains of intensive open settlement were exposed at this site in the form of residential and utility features in two phases: 1. Roman influence (phase B2–C2) and 2. early Middle Ages (between the second half of the 10th or the beginning of the 11th and the end of the 12th century). The immovable features together with the initial report were published after the completion of the research in 2006 and 2007. It was noted that after using the open settlement, an earth rampart was built here, in which six subsequent phases were distinguished. The early Middle Ages ceramic material was the only type of artefacts that were discovered in the subsequent six phases of the earth rampart. On the basis of some characteristics – technology, ornamentation or rim shapes, an attempt was made to determine the chronology of piling up successive layers of the rampart. The material in all layers is similar and it can be dated to the 11th–13th century. Therefore, the rampart was probably created from the end of the 12th or 13th century. A large collection of Modern period pottery sherds was obtained from the mound of the youngest 6th phase of the rampart, which was established as the period from the end of the 16th to the 1st half of the 17th century.

    Opis:
    Podstawę źródłową artykułu stanowi księga zapowiedzi przedślubnych parafii katedralnej obrządku greckokatolickiego w Przemyślu za lata 1913–1924. Obejmuje ona 1296 rejestrów par narzeczeńskich, z których niemal połowę stanowiły związki egzogamiczne (mieszane obrządkowo), prawie w całości ukraińsko-polskie. Rejestry zawierają porównywalne ze sobą elementy treści. Szczegółowe dane osobowe obojga narzeczonych podają personalia ich i ich rodziców, miejsce i datę urodzenia, miejsce zamieszkania, stan cywilny, status społeczno-zawodowy oraz obrządek lub wyznanie. Rejestry zawierają też liczne odwołania do dokumentów i zaświadczeń przedstawionych wcześniej przez narzeczonych w kurii eparchialnej. Zakres treści rejestrów jest bogatszy niż późniejszych zapisów w księdze poślubionych. Rejestrują one dokładnie zjawisko związków mieszanych in statu nascendi, czyli w momencie formowania się związku, podjęcia starań o zawarcie ślubu, w tym przygotowania stosownej dokumentacji i złożenia przysięgi, potwierdzonej obecnością świadków i podpisem na protokole egzaminu przedślubnego. Księga zapowiedzi obejmuje także pary narzeczeńskie, które zrezygnowały później ze ślubu oraz pary, które zgodnie z obowiązującym prawem otrzymały sakrament w kościele parafialnym panny młodej, pozostającej w obrządku łacińskim. Księga jest materialnym świadectwem fenomenu społeczno-religijnego, jakim w dawnej Rzeczypospolitej były na Kresach południowo-wschodnich polsko-ukraińskie małżeństwa mieszane.
    The base research source for the article are the registers of premarital announcements from the years 1913–1924. It contained 1296 register of engaged couples, nearly half of which were exogemic (mixed denominations), mostly Polish-Ukrainian. The mentioned registered are (for the most part) comparable. The personal data of the couples and their parents, place and date of birth, place of inhabitancy and religion and specific denomination. They alsocontain links and summaries of different documents and certificates produced by the eparchial curia. The contents are richer than the later marital books. They register in detail the state of mixed relationships in statu nascendi, at the moment of their forming, making preparations for the wed-ding and gathering the needed documentation and taking the vow among witnesses, along with the signature on the document. The personal range is also much wider, because the registers also contained mentions of engagements that were cancelled and couples, that received the sacrament in the temple of the female bethrothed, in the Roman Catholic denomination. The books present the social and religious phenomenon in the form of mixed Polish-Ukrainian marriages in the frontier territories of the Rzeczpospolita.
