    Prezentowany artykuł przybliża wizerunek św. Piotra naszkicowany przez autora Czwartej Ewangelii. W dziele Janowym odkrywamy charakter i temperament tego apostoła. Ukazany jest on tutaj jako człowiek żywiołowy, porywczy, charakteryzujący się lojalnością wobec Mistrza, a także posiadający prymat wśród osób podążających za Nim. Uważna lektura poszczególnych perykop i wędrówka przez miejsca, do których prowadzi nas autor Czwartej Ewangelii, pozwalają ujrzeć proces wewnętrznej przemiany Piotra oraz etapy w jego drodze stawania się uczniem Jezusa.
    The article presented here takes a closer look at the image of St Peter sketched by the author of the Fourth Gospel. In the work of John we discover the character and temperament of the Apostle. He is portrayed here as an impetuous, impulsive man, characterised by his loyalty to the Master and having primacy among those who follow him. A careful reading of the individual pericopes and a journey through the places to which the author of the Fourth Gospel leads us allow us to see the process of Peter’s inner transformation and the stages in his journey of becoming a disciple of Jesus.

    The article seeks to shed light on the Johannine presentation of Peter, by focusing on the scenes surrounding Jesus’ arrest and his trial before the high priest. The analysis opens with pointing out the importance of Peter as a secondary character in the Gospel of John, specifically in John 18:1-27. There follows an overview of recent scholarly studies on the characters found in the Gospel of John, and how they are characterized. In the next four sections of the article, the figure of Peter is analyzed as he appears in four episodes: (1) Peter’s taking up the sword during Jesus’ arrest (18:1-12); (2) Peter’s accompanying Jesus as he is led to the place of trial (18:15); (3) Peter’s entering into the courtyard of the high priest’s house (18:15-16); (4) Peter’s three-fold denial (18:17-27). The final section of the article confronts the issue of Peter’s apparent lack of remorse in the wake of his third denial, as reflected in the Johannine narrative.

    Artykuł nosi tytuł Piotr jako pasterz w J 21,15-19. Główny cel opracowania stanowi ukazanie oryginalnych akcentów teologicznych dotyczących Piotra, zawartych we wskazanym fragmencie Ewangelii wg  św. Jana. Rozdział  21 to tekst uważany za późniejszy dodatek do całości tej ewangelii. W celu uzyskania wiarygodnych wniosków egzegetycznych konieczne jest zatem zwrócenie szczególnej uwagi na związane z tym tekstem kwestie redakcyjne. Fragment J 21,15-19 pomimo swojej pozornie prostej struktury  stawia także inne wyzwania. Należy do nich przede wszystkim zagadkowa zmienność stosowanej terminologii. W celu usunięcia wszelkich wątpliwości dotyczących jej właściwego doboru konieczne jest zwrócenie uwagi na możliwe warianty krytyczno-literackie. W J 21,15-19 Piotr jest przedstawiony jako pasterz. Funkcję tę otrzymuje od Zmartwychwstałego Jezusa. Owczarnia, którą ma paść pozostaje własnością Jezusa. J 21,18-19 wiąże posługę Piotra z perspektywą martyrologiczną. Tekst J 21,15-19 posiada także wyraźny potencjał ekumeniczny. Przekazanie władzy pasterskiej może być traktowane jak wydarzenie jednorazowe. Jednak kontekst historyczny dodania J 21 do reszty ewangelii wskazuje na jednoczący charakter posługi pasterza Piotra. Rodzi się pytanie: czy odczytanie tego tekstu w duchu ekumenicznym może ułatwić dialog na temat natury prymatu Biskupa Rzymu.
    The article is titled Peter as a shepherd in John 21:15-19. The main objective of development is to show the original theological emphasis on Peter the Apostle The main objective of development is to show the original theological emphasis on Peter the Apostle. Chapter 21 is a text considered to be a later addition to the Gospel of John. It is necessary to pay special attention to the related issues of editorial text. Despite its seemingly simple structure Jn 21:15-19 poses other challenges. One of them is a puzzling variation of terminology. It is therefore necessary to draw attention to possible variants of critical-literary ?assessment? of the biblical text. In Jn 21:15-19 Peter is presented as a shepherd. This particular mission gives him the Risen Jesus. The flock, which he has to feed, remains the property of Jesus. Jn 21:18-19 associated the ministry of Peter with his martyrdom. Text of Jn 21,15-19 has ecumenical significance. The delegation of pastoral authority can be treated as a one-off event. The historical context of  Jn 21  indicates the unifying character of the ministry of Peter the Apostle. Proper reading of the text can facilitate dialogue on the nature of the primacy of the Bishop of Rome.
    Das Hauptziel des Artikels besteht im Aufzeichnen der originellen theologischen Akzente der Gestalt des Petrus, enthalten im behandelten Fragment des Johannesevangeliums. Das 21. Kapitel wird heute für einen späteren Zusatz zum Text des Evangeliums gehalten. Um glaubwürdige exegetische Schlussfolgerungen erhalten zu können, muss man eine besondere Aufmerksamkeit auf die mit dem Text zusammenhängende redaktionelle Fragen richten. Trotz seiner auf den ersten Blick einfachen Struktur, ist das Fragment Joh 21, 15-19 eine Herausforderung. Dazu gehört vor allem eine rätselhafte Veränderung der verwendeten Terminologie. Um alle Unsicherheiten bezüglich der gewählten Terminologie ausräumen zu können, müssen verschiedene kritisch-literarische Varianten berücksichtigt werden. Petrus wird in Joh 21, 15-19 als Hirte dargestellt. Diese Funktion erhält er vom Auferstandenen. Die Herde, die von ihm geweidet werden soll, bleibt das Eigentum Jesu. Verse 18-19 verbinden den Dienst Petri mit der martyrologischen Perspektive. Der ganze Text Joh 21, 15-19 hat ein deutliches ökumenisches Potential. Die Übergabe der Hirtengewalt kann zwar als ein einmaliges Ereignis betrachtet werden. Doch der historische Kontext um die Hinzufügung des Kapitels 21 zum Rest des Evangeliums verweist deutlich auf den einheitsstiftenden Charakter des petrinischen Hirtendienstes. Es stellt sich die Frage, ob die Lektüre des Textes im ökumenischen Sinn den Dialog über das Wesen des Primats des Bischof von Rom erleichtern kann.
