Dodatkowo, w treści artykułu przedstawiono przegląd stanu dotychczasowej wiedzy w zakresie metod określania granic wybuchowości na potrzeby bezpieczeństwa w transporcie i w magazynowaniu ciekłych substancji palnych.
The paper contains the results of experimental study on flammability limits for methanol, ethanol and 1-butanol at elevated temperatures of 40 °C, 60 °C, 80 °C, 100 °C and 120 °C. Experimental investigation was done using the B method described in the standard PN-EN 1839. In addition, a state of the art was made on norms, research methods and apparatus used for the determination of flammability limits in terms of transport and storage safety of combustible vapors.

For a given linear operator L on $ℓ^∞$ with ∥L∥ = 1 and L(1) = 1, a notion of limit, called the L-limit, is defined for bounded sequences in a normed linear space X. In the case where L is the left shift operator on $ℓ^∞$ and $X = ℓ^∞$, the definition of L-limit reduces to Lorentz's definition of σ-limit, which is described by means of Banach limits on $ℓ^∞$. We discuss some properties of L-limits, characterize reflexive spaces in terms of existence of L-limits of bounded sequences, and formulate a version of the abstract mean ergodic theorem in terms of L-limits. A theorem of Sinclair on the form of linear functionals on a unital normed algebra in terms of states is also generalized.

The supporters of the idea of introducing a term limit for Vogts and mayors argue that long-lasting incumbency leads, among other things, to atrophy of political involve-ment at the local level. The aim of the article is to validate the above-mentioned belief through checking how the duration of tenure of Vogts and mayors affects the voter turn-out and the number of candidates in the local elections. The study draws on the data from National Electoral Commission regarding the re-sults of and candidates in the local elections (2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014) in 317 Polish electoral districts. The statistical analysis reveals that time of incumbency can correlate negatively with po-litical engagement in some aspects, although these relationships are not very strong.

Opis:
Electromagnetic method of registration of partical velocity profile U(t) has been used for investigation of nitromethane/methanol mixtures of different concentration including mixtures in which weigh ratio is close to the detonation limits concentration. In all mixtures in the experimental records of U(t) a typical spike was registered, this enables to locate the Chapman-Jouguet state, and to determine a set of detonation parameters including the pressure PC-J data which are necessary for finding of true detonation limits on concentration according to methods proposed by Dremin recently. Attention was given to some disagreements with one-dimensional ZND detonation theory.

This paper studies the subset of singular traces generated by exponentiation-invariant extended limits. We describe relations between this subset and other important subsets of singular traces. We prove several conditions for measurability of operators from the weak trace class ideal with respect to the traces generated by exponentiation-invariant extended limits. We resolve an open question raised in [S. Lord, F. Sukochev, Measure theory in noncommutative spaces, SIGMA Symmetry Integrability Geom. Methods Appl. 6 (2010), paper 072, 36] in the setting of the weak trace class ideal.

Opis:
Sulfacetamide sodium (SFS), in combination with prednisolone sodium phosphate (PSP), is indicated for ophthalmic infections. The present study describes a reverse phase-high performance liquid chromatography method for simultaneous estimation of these two drugs using diode-array detector. Isocratic elution with solvent system acetate buffer (0.01 M, pH 7): acetonitrile: methanol 75:20:5 (v/v/v), at a flow rate of 0.8 mL min-1 gave optimum resolution. The detection limits for SFS and PSP were calculated as 1.15 µg mL-1 and 1.45µg mL-1, while quantification limits were 3.83 µg mL-1 and 4.84 µg mL-1 respectively. Accuracy was found to be 99-101% with relative standard deviation (RSD) values less than 2%. The proposed method is accurate, precise, sensitive, reproducible and applicable for normal usage in quality control laboratories. It would prove advantageous in utilizing less time and resources as previously there is no reported single assay for simultaneous quantification of the aforementioned drugs.

Theoretical background: The 2008/2009 financial crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in 2020 or the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, all these affected market volatility causing greater interest in counterparty credit risk (CCR) management especially in the OTC derivatives market. This study investigates selected method to mitigate the CCR, namely the application of various risk limits. The research is focused particularly on the pre-settlement risk that financial institutions face after transaction conclusion until the contract’s final settlement. Instead of one single limit there may be a wide range of different treasury limits (a multiple treasury limit setup) applied not only to cover the credit exposure but also to support and enhance the entire market risk management process and day-to-day operations in the financial institutions. Purpose of the article: The paper examines treasury limits employed to manage pre-settlement risk in the Polish OTC derivatives market in the relation between financial institution and non-financial institution. The current literature on this subject includes works on various risk limits, especially in the Polish inter-bank market, however, there is still no broader view on this topic from the analysed perspective. The study indicates different pre-settlement risk limits to be applied in practice both for daily and credit-related transactions considering multiple determinants, such as counterparty and financial instrument type, asset class or collateral form. Research methods: Research methods comprise the analysis of guidelines and recommendations of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority as well as reports, documents and market risk management principles of selected financial institutions. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of legal backgrounds on treasury limits in Poland and bank’s sources, such as master agreements, general conditions of cooperation in the field of treasury products, regulations, information brochures, etc. Selected data from the 2022 Triennial Central Bank Survey of Foreign Exchange and OTC Derivatives Market Activity in Poland is used in the context analysis. Main findings: Different determinants of pre-settlement risk limit setup are identified and on this basis a directory of pre-settlement treasury limits is developed. The paper indicates also some challenges related to their practical application, concerning, for instance, the breaches of contractual terms (events of default), timely renewal of treasury limit or issues regarding the market risk estimation.

The article includes the content of sample experiments whose results may be useful in the management of human capital creativity. It presents selected experiment concepts concerning ideational fluency, flexibility and originality and their subordination to basic patterns: simple real experimental patterns, simple basic pre-experimental patterns, simple basic quasi-experimental patterns. In addition, it includes the account of the experiment on attitude shaping. Methodical, ethical and economic limits of experiment application were determined, based on the analysis of reference books related to the method of the experiment and creativity management. The way to understand the constraints is included below in the glossary of key phrases. The subject of the study was chosen on the basis of the existent research gap. As results from analyses based on the study of foreign reference books conducted by J. Samul [2015], the experiment is still a rarely used research method in the area of human capital management. It can, therefore, be concluded that the same also (and perhaps even more so) applies to experiments concerning the management of employee creativity.

The limits of fourmajor icesheets can be traced in the present landscape of Poland. Glacial deposits and ice-dammed lakes indicate a stream-like pattern of advancing ice bodies, dependent both on ice dynamics in the marginal zones and on the pre-existing landscape in their forefields. The southernmost extent of the Pleistocene ice sheets is indicated by the Scandinavian erratics and was formed by the South Polish Glaciations (Elsterian), partly replaced in the west by the Odranian of the Middle Polish Glaciations (Saalian I). The subsequent Wartanian Glaciation of the Middle Polish Glaciations (Saalian II) and the Vistulian Glaciation (North Polish Glaciation, Weichselian) were limited to areas further to the north.

For years, management of companies has been turning to proven techniques and tools to achieve even higher productivity. They hope for, if possible, all-inclusive, easy and efficient procedures to manage their production systems. In principle, this applies to all organizations, regardless of the sector or the company focus. Especially in industrial enterprises with different machines and equipment for production processes, the quantitative indicator „Overall Equipment Effectiveness“ (OEE) has been used in recent years as a key indicator to monitor their efficiency and process performance. This indicator provides relatively simple information about the possibilities and utilization of machines and equipment as well as the quality achieved in the production processes. If the OEE indicator is determined correctly, based on the available and correct data in a system, processes can be better controlled, managed and improved. However, it is important to properly monitor (decode) the data and to understand them. The paper presents the potential but also the limits (obstacles) of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) on case studies in selected domestic enterprises in the Moravian-Silesian region.

This article analyses the short story collection Granice świata (“The Limits of the World”) by Kazimierz Wierzyński. It emphasises two war narratives, namely The Patrol and Sentence of Death, in which the firstperson narrator (the author himself) experiences extreme events. Wierzyński’s characters commit terrible atrocities, and the writer describes their ruthless and unexpected reactions to highly distressing episodes.
